i worked for 3 years at a job that required me to be on the phone all day w/ people all over the country. a relatively small % of the southerners I spoke to had audible southern accents but i swear that EVERY SINGLE PERSON i ever talked to in Massachusetts and also many in surrounding states had thick stereotypical Boston accents.

some dude, Friday, 11 December 2009 23:46 (sixteen years ago)

i think Moore's accent was bad and annoying on purpose but it still really pretty much ruined every scene she was in for me. gonna be pissed if she gets a Hayek-style arc.

some dude, Friday, 11 December 2009 23:47 (sixteen years ago)

OMG

It was OMFG!

that was my saying OMG @ how they wrapped up the ending

I suspected as much, I just wanted to OMG hearing OMFG.

I usually love Julianne Moore, but her presence in this episode grated on my soul. Her attempt at a Boston accent was horribly done and the whole plotline with her was pretty creepy.

The rest of the episode was fairly good, especially Verdukianism, but the Jack and Julianne stuff was terrible. I hope she doesn't turn out to be a regular character.

Also, did anyone notice that Liz had kind of a small role this week? That's kind of a bummer.

i read this before watching the ep and fully expected to disagree with everything you said but...otm. except the episode was really bad by 30 rock standards

k3vin k., Saturday, 12 December 2009 05:08 (sixteen years ago)

k3vin k., Saturday, 12 December 2009 05:08 (sixteen years ago)

jenna's nosebleed fucking killed me

tehresa, Saturday, 12 December 2009 05:19 (sixteen years ago)

and julianne moore's accent seemed more like grey gardens than boston to me.

tehresa, Saturday, 12 December 2009 05:20 (sixteen years ago)

Bizarro! This was a most bodacious episode.

Anyone who doesn't love Jenna gives me a rage stroke.

Leee, Saturday, 12 December 2009 05:26 (sixteen years ago)

WBS* Jenna, in other words.

*would business sext

Leee, Saturday, 12 December 2009 05:27 (sixteen years ago)

good episode but it could have used more tracy.

sonderangerbot, Saturday, 12 December 2009 12:27 (sixteen years ago)

love eps where tracy is the one who knows what's up

tehresa, Saturday, 12 December 2009 19:56 (sixteen years ago)

they need to stop having guest stars to have story arcs with Donaghy. Pain in the arse.

Pedro Paramore (jim), Saturday, 12 December 2009 19:57 (sixteen years ago)

“The thing I love about the Philharmonic as an institution is that they are such bold risk takers,” he said then. Glenn Close, Sigourney Weaver or Kevin Kline would be obvious voices for the orchestra, he said. “But no, no, no, the Philharmonic chose someone who is the star of one of the silliest, most inane TV shows.”

inane?

Astronaut Mike Dexter (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Monday, 14 December 2009 22:01 (sixteen years ago)

also hello the ny phil has had THE MOST BORING rep in the world for the past few seasons. i think gilbert will help, but uh... they are a staid institution not really known as being particularly bold!

tehresa, Monday, 14 December 2009 22:04 (sixteen years ago)

also

Chamber music appears to hold little interest for him, and he said he did not have time to attend the opera in addition to orchestra concerts. Mozart and “peppy” music are not favorites.

^^^dead to me.

30 Rock doesn’t have the biggest audience, but we have an audience. And my God, what a difference it makes. I walk down the street all day long and people tell me how much they love the show. Not that I need to wake up every day and have every bird in the trees and every horse riding along the bridle path wink at me and say, “Oh, Alec, I loved 30 Rock last night!” But it’s nice.

the first Alec Baldwin interview I read that featured him being really frank and tough on himself about his career was interesting, the 80th one in 4 years now is just kind of tiresome.

I was wondering about this. Exact opposite of BBC overdrive back home. Luckily I can get the iPlayer cranking for some proper christmas telly.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Tuesday, 22 December 2009 13:54 (sixteen years ago)

how do you get iplayer working here?
