I mean, it seems perfectly reasonable to me to argue that marriage is a religious institution and not a civil one, and that you can't legislate a religion - you CAN (and should), however, afford gay civil unions and religious marriages the same exact legal rights, and no one is harmed and it will affect roughly 10% of the population, so really, why does the other 90% of the population even give a fuck.
(don't answer that)

It seems that "anchor babies" refers to children of ... oh fuck it, here's the wikipedia entry:
Anchor baby or jackpot baby are terms used to refer to a child born in the United States to illegal aliens or other non-citizens. Such a child is legally a citizen of the United States. The term refers to a resident alien's child's role in facilitating "chain migration" under the provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Services Act of 1965. Immigration reductionists claim that the baby would become the "anchor" of a chain by which its family may receive benefits from social programs, and by which the parents may themselves eventually become lawful permanent residents or citizens of the United States. Anchor baby has been characterized by some as a derogatory term.[1][2][3]

xp: his comments seem ripped from the little crabby guy at the bottom of the onion's editorial cartoons.
also, the anchor babies one... jesus.

― kingkongvsgodzilla, Saturday, 1 September 2007 09:25 (eighteen years ago)
that one's easy. i can't get enough of these guys positing an outlandish fictional scenario and then riffing on that in a way that's three times removed from relevance, rightwing or otherwise. Nobody's forcing you to call yourself a political satirist, y'know?
― tremendoid, Saturday, 1 September 2007 09:59 (eighteen years ago)
I feel like we've got a bunch of budding extremely poor excuses for Patton Oswalts if only they would go that extra mile and riff on suspenders and butthair or something instead of politics
