i just remembered the mashup of 2badmice - bombscare with the proclaimers 500 miles

vile

I feel vindicated.

Ed (dali), Monday, 13 November 2006 14:07 (nineteen years ago)

that mashup is by the delectable Soundhog, but why it would be played NOW is baffling.

sounds like i would've enjoyed RTD.

glad to be of some use

2 american 4 u (blueski), Monday, 13 November 2006 14:12 (nineteen years ago)

anyone up for justus kohncke at the key?

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Monday, 13 November 2006 14:17 (nineteen years ago)

when? if it doesn't fall into post-operation window, YES

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 13 November 2006 14:19 (nineteen years ago)

justus is 18 november; I can't make it, so so frustrating.

ampersand, hearts, semicolon (cis), Monday, 13 November 2006 14:33 (nineteen years ago)

that could well be doable.

-- (688), Monday, 13 November 2006 14:35 (nineteen years ago)

ah. michael mayer & ivan smagghe are at fabric on the 18th - i would def prefer kohncke as i've just seen mayer but there's a possibility that i might be interviewing, or helping robin interview, mayer...

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 13 November 2006 14:38 (nineteen years ago)

oh yea he mentioned that. i'd (slightly) prefer kohncke, but mayer would be good also. anyone except that awful rex person

-- (688), Monday, 13 November 2006 15:34 (nineteen years ago)

I'm coming in from New York this weekend to get my fix of some proper dance music. What's worth checking out as far as clubs/residencies? I'd love some Friday night suggestions from "the experts."

Would be open to just about anything that's good - no genre requirements.

I think my Saturday is covered with a stop at Fabric for Mayer/Smagghe (although Kohncke sounds tempting too!).

augustus (augustus), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 15:28 (nineteen years ago)

I am going to something called AntiSocial run by Yr Mum Yr Dad on Saturday, likely to be full of challenging fashion types, people from work, etc.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 15:49 (nineteen years ago)

Mayer will be the best I think, Kohncke good as well. If his set at Cross Central is anything to go by, Smagghe has gone shit since his transition from big room electro-house to clunky minimal.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:02 (nineteen years ago)

what did Rex play other than his own stuff?

2 american 4 u (blueski), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:04 (nineteen years ago)

Everything sounded like it was either one of his own tracks or a remix.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:09 (nineteen years ago)

Do any of you guys like a bit of proper techno action?

I'm heading up to Split at The Key on the 2nd if it's anyone's cup of tea - apparently the atmosphere is second to none at their events.

ROOM ONE.
ROBERT HOOD
VINCE WATSON LIVE
DAN MOORE (SC)
CHRIS FINKE
ALEX DOWNEY (TBC)

ROOM TWO
TO THE BONE
ALEX BOWEN (SC)

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:35 (nineteen years ago)

What do you mean by proper techno?

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:38 (nineteen years ago)

i think i would like Vince Watson (but i can't quite get around my clubbing antipathy at the mo)

2 american 4 u (blueski), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:39 (nineteen years ago)

I really want to see Robert Hood.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:42 (nineteen years ago)

What do you mean by proper techno?

You know what I meant! But, by all means, let's have a debate.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:46 (nineteen years ago)

yeah i missed robert hood in NYC earlier this year and have regretted it ever since.

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:47 (nineteen years ago)

It's more of a case of am I going to be piss bored by 2am because no bugger behind the decks has bothered to vary (mainly up) the tempo in 3 hours?

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:49 (nineteen years ago)

11am - 128bpm
2am - 131bpm

2 american 4 u (blueski), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 16:51 (nineteen years ago)

hahaha. Surely you mean

11am - 135bpm
5am - 136bpm

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 17:00 (nineteen years ago)

bah, 220bpm by sun up

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 18:39 (nineteen years ago)

what did Rex play other than his own stuff?

when I saw him, yeah, it was 40-odd minutes of new Rex stuff, the rest his old stuff and remixes. but apparently at another Sydney show he played quite a bit of other people's music, eg Theme From S-Express.

occasional mongrel (kit brash), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 09:58 (nineteen years ago)

i saw rob hood maybe last year, was really good

-- (688), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:02 (nineteen years ago)

So this Saturday then? I'm assuming everyone is coming to The End. According to the club's site it appears Darren Emerson and Carl Craig are DJing together - anyone know if this is the case?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 21 November 2006 11:53 (nineteen years ago)

saturday yes. i dont think they're djing 'together', isnt underwater emersons night?

16th dec: fabric, mathew jonson and wagon repair records night

30th dec: the end, richie/minus

-- (688), Tuesday, 21 November 2006 12:03 (nineteen years ago)

wait, should we be getting tickets for carl craig?

-- (688), Tuesday, 21 November 2006 13:05 (nineteen years ago)

i'm not getting a ticket because i don't know how my tooth will be on sat, i assume i will be able to buy on the door.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 21 November 2006 13:12 (nineteen years ago)

i mean i act like i'm coming and i really really want to but after the last op i didn't go out for like a fortnight :(

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 21 November 2006 13:13 (nineteen years ago)

I'm getting tickets. It's cheaper and avoids queuing for hours.

braveclub (braveclub), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 11:47 (nineteen years ago)

Fuck it, I'll get a ticket as well. It's not like I'm going to change my mind about this.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 11:48 (nineteen years ago)

THINGS NOT TO DO WHEN CARL CRAIG IS PLAYING YOUR TOWN THIS WEEKEND, ALL YOUR FRIENDS ARE GOING TO SEE HIM AND YOU WILL PROBABLY BE UNABLE TO DO THE SAME DUE TO IMPENDING HOLE IN MOUTH:

listen to his rmx of 'relevée' on loop all the way into work

:(

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 11:54 (nineteen years ago)

Also as we're discussing elsewhere - 7th December is either Magda at the T-Bar or Black Devil Disco Club at Plastic People. I'm booking the next day off work whatever.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 11:55 (nineteen years ago)

+ mathew jonson @ fabric, 16th dec

+ richie @ the end, 30th dec*

*if there is decent warehouse/house action on 31st, scrub this, otherwise, 30th is much better than 31st for 'proper club' action

-- (688), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 12:00 (nineteen years ago)

ticket purchased

-- (688), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

if i bought a ticket i'd only forget it anyway

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

are you on the guestlist for your operation?

-- (688), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 13:59 (nineteen years ago)

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 14:10 (nineteen years ago)

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

2 american 4 u (blueski), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

Carl Craig is playing "early" at The End, he's supposed to come down to Brighton afterwards to play a set which starts at 5am, so I'd imagine he would have to finish at 3am by the latest. All I can say is goodbye Sunday.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 23 November 2006 14:46 (nineteen years ago)

one month passes...
Anyone fancy Optimo and Hood at Fabric on the 20th?

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 4 January 2007 10:04 (nineteen years ago)

yes i think so
