it's colored saran wrap

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Friday, 28 October 2005 01:47 (twenty years ago)

Green Nike Portugal t-shirt. Grey pyjama "pants" that Virgin Atlantic gave me. Armani spectacles. green-faced Android watch.

knife (nordicskilla), Friday, 28 October 2005 01:50 (twenty years ago)

I have on my "Moustache Night 2005" tee (yes, I actually attended), grey courdoroy pants, and a khaki courdoroy jacket. I think I decided today that more than one courdoroy item in an outfit is fashionably unadvisable.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 28 October 2005 02:48 (twenty years ago)

black long-sleeved dress shirt, faded jeans, some manner of shoe, and a grim expression

gear (gear), Friday, 28 October 2005 02:50 (twenty years ago)

Some manner of shoe? How can you not know what manner of shoe you are wearing? Do you have an extremely large belly that renders your shoes difficult to see?

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 28 October 2005 02:53 (twenty years ago)

herring-bone weave chocolate/sand wide-legged pants, black 3/4 sleeve top and shiny kneehigh chocolate boots. last day i'll have to wear wintery clothes to work i reckon, it is finally getting springlike. at last!

gem (trisk), Friday, 28 October 2005 02:54 (twenty years ago)

jess are you roy orbison?

minna (minna), Friday, 28 October 2005 04:04 (twenty years ago)

black dress shirt with thin coloured vertical stripes, dark blue jeans, these.

BUCK BUCK, nice shot (haitch), Friday, 28 October 2005 04:25 (twenty years ago)

Black low wedge ankle-strap shoes, black opaque tights, a white v-neck sleeveless top and a blue crochet three-quarter sleeve tie-front bolero. Apparently this outfit makes me look like an administrator.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 28 October 2005 07:35 (twenty years ago)

Forgot to mention I am also wearing a skirt! (Black A-line)

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 28 October 2005 07:35 (twenty years ago)

five months pass...
i like this thread. what are you wearing, people?

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 10 April 2006 14:59 (twenty years ago)

The same jeans/t-shirt I've been wearing for what feels like two weeks now. The jeans have quite large holes in the knees and the shirt doesn't quite cover my belly. I feel like a tramp.

melton mowbray's APOCALYPTO! (adr), Monday, 10 April 2006 15:12 (twenty years ago)

Black, long-sleeved, empire-line dress, black tights, knee high red platform boots.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 12:01 (twenty years ago)

Black slacks, a blue shirt with black pinstripes, black shoes, a black hoodie.

Gilbert O'Sullivan (kenan), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 12:02 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I'm in my tramp outfit too. Very old, battered gap hoodie in weird shade of green, my M & S £9 jeans and not very box-fresh Converses. Nice socks though.

Ned T.RIfle II (Ned T.Rifle II), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 12:08 (twenty years ago)

I've just realised that the socks cost more than the jeans.

Ned T.RIfle II (Ned T.Rifle II), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 12:09 (twenty years ago)

dark violet tank, J Crew light heather v-neck sweater (uh, what color is this? oatmeal?).. black trousers w/tuxedo stripe (Zara), silver grey knitted scarf from Paris craft market, vintage early 60's houndstooth coat w/mandarin collar and lots of silver buttons. yesterday I had on a kinda tulip shaped pinstripe skirt (more Zara) and an olive Comme des Garcons wool t-shirt (thrift score!).

dar1a g (daria g), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 13:43 (twenty years ago)

is that a tank top with a v neck over the top?

me: badly ironed muji white shirt, muji v neck dark blue wool jumper, red silk tie, too-big wool suit, camper shoes.

i look liek a wreck

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 14:35 (twenty years ago)

Grey t-shirt with "dickies" printed on in blue
Blue jeans from gap
Emerica trainers
Undies from George at Asda
Socks from god knows where.

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 14:41 (twenty years ago)

the same thing I was wearing last time (minus the parsley butter) - I think the suit may be the same as the one tracer wore to the wedding

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 14:42 (twenty years ago)

yeah, v neck over the top, the v neck sweater is cut very long and a long tank top underneath is necessary for it to fit properly. I do have this nifty silk tank from Ben Sherman that goes well over other blouses and tops but not today.

how can anyone look like a wreck in muji? muji is so great, I wish they'd open a store in DC.

dar1a g (daria g), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 14:43 (twenty years ago)

this thread is crazy - when did i ever have a "raw silk shirt"???

today i'm wearing stretchy skin-tight jeans, a red and white tartan flannel that's slightly too small, and white adidas with red stripes and red shoelaces.

"hugo" by hugo boss, gabby?

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 14:43 (twenty years ago)

no, guess not. it looks almost exactly the same, though yours looks better (read: slimmer)-tailored.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 14:46 (twenty years ago)

the muji bit looks ok except for the ironing. and weird muji collars that are really small and sort of floppy, so they kinda look weird. im into them tho. but thats just cos my friend said it was ok

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 14:58 (twenty years ago)

I love muji but unless they put their sizes up to 7 or 8 I'm never gonna get in them.

xpost
Mrs Trifle got married in raw silk - i always thought it was a bit strange, I mean it's not really raw is it?

Ned T.RIfle II (Ned T.Rifle II), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 15:10 (twenty years ago)

Today I'm wearing cheap office clothes:

Girls black fitted polo top from Target
Charcoal pinstripe a-line miniskirt from Sears
Black opaque tights from Target
Black mary-janes with double straps and cherry buckles from Hot Topic.
Gold (colored)"Lightning strikes twice" necklace from Urban Outfitters
Engagement ring.
Wedding ring.
Tinkerbell watch.
Maybelline dream mousse shimmer in 'Golden of Eden' from Kroger
Jessica Simpson's Dessert Treats hair and body shimmer mist in 'Cotton Candy' from Walgreens

I know what you're thinking: "Classy!"

Yesterday was different:

Cherry red corduroy jeans from Gap (not the red they were purchased in. i dyed them a deeper, less 80s corporate whore, red at home)
Navy t-shirt with dark red printed silver jews "peace" logo and tiny wear holes all over from Drag City Records.
Forest green chenille sox from Walgreens.
Pleasant Plains' black vans size 10 from I dont know where.
Red Earth Secret Potion in white (the best illuminator you will find ANYWHERE)from Red Earth Store, Australia.
Jessica Simpson's Dessert Treats hair and body shimmer mist in 'Cotton Candy' from Walgreens

If you havent tried it yet, I recommend wearing sneakers one size bigger than your shoe size. Its comfort and liberty all rolled up into one outstanding footwear experience. Now when I buy shoes and they arrive, I put them on and whine "Oh, crap! They fit!" It is awfully hard to go back.

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 17:06 (twenty years ago)

i love sunny successor

me: pumpkin shirt, shortsleeved button-up, 55% linen 45% cotton; cheap navy barn coat as it's cold in my office; eggshell khakis; white socks; black non-leather shoes. under it all [checks]: yep, my grinch-themed boxers. JEALOUS MUCH< PUNKS?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 17:11 (twenty years ago)

"illuminator"?? Is it make-up? and Do I NEED it?

I have fallen into the dirtbag student swing of things. So many clothes in closet yet: Khaki stretchy jean-like pants that I wore yesterday as well, something sticky (food?) on right thigh, bright turqoise v-neck t-shirt that's all stretched out, I mean, you can see my bra and it's not a great bra, $1.99 blue chinatown slippers. I should change, everything, leave house, read somewhere else, not be dirtbag.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 17:23 (twenty years ago)

yes you need it! you know when you see actress walk down the red carpet and their cheekbones seem to shine with some kind of radiant white light? thats the work of an illuminator. some (most) cheaper brands will use glitter, which is lame for these purposes. you want an iridescent smooth liquid with no sparklies. red earth and sugarbaby make great illuminators. theres also revlon skinlights but that tends to make your face just look greasy if not used very sparingly. im sure doir and some of the better brands have some good illumators but im clueless as far as theyre concerned.

Haikunym, is eggshell a beige color or a blue color? I've never been able to get that straight.

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:10 (twenty years ago)

is that how models get that dewy "just got laid" look?

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:12 (twenty years ago)

exactly

actually MAC hyper real foundation has an illuminator in it but im not crazy about having my whole face glowing like the moon.

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:12 (twenty years ago)

benefit's hi-beam illuminator rules. guerlain's meteorites is likewise excellent.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:13 (twenty years ago)

same barrel.

strongo hulkington is a guy with a belly button piercing (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:14 (twenty years ago)

mac's strobe cream is a great body illuminator. except don't leave it lying around in a bathroom where bleary-eyed boys might apply it thinking that it's a normal moisturizer, because they'll yell at you once they realize they look like a disco ball.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:15 (twenty years ago)

haha, boys.

haha, barrel.

They have Red Earth at a certain drugstore here! I am going for an illuminating walk. My cheekbones need THE LIGHT, THE DISCOBALL LIGHT.

(I think eggshell is like white, like the colour of walls.)

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:20 (twenty years ago)

I use the Revlon one, which works fine for me but I think it seems best for the v. light skinned (even the "darker" ones) cos otherwise the pearlies seem too pearly? At least that's what it did to my sister.

Illuminator ends up on boys anyway, the glitteries just like to leap off my skin and onto others for some reason.

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:21 (twenty years ago)

an olive Comme des Garcons wool t-shirt (thrift score!).

How the hell...?

Eazy (Eazy), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:22 (twenty years ago)

lauren, do any of those have glitter? 'hi-beam' by its name alone sounds very promising.

robyn, where are you at? im having a hell of a time getting hold of any red earth products. all the australian stores closed down and the two sites i can find it on are having problems with their online stores (including red earth itself).

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 19:12 (twenty years ago)

hi-beam is glisteny but not glittery. it's at the pinky-white end of the spectrum, but they also do a more bronzey one. meteorites is a powder, which i actually like a bit better as i find it easier to apply. no glitter in that one, either.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 19:31 (twenty years ago)

nice! thanks.

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 19:32 (twenty years ago)

an olive Comme des Garcons wool t-shirt (thrift score!).

How the hell...?

that's what I'm saying! I think it cost $3. I don't know, I got it in either New Bedford or Fall River, Massachusetts, and I can't explain why it was there, but after much thrifting experience one can sorta pick out good quality items just going on the fabric, and then I looked at the tag & said hey.. WTF? it's got a little snag on the sleeve that I should have repaired, I think it's where the fools stapled a tag on there. you know, I think it was even half price as it had been there a while.

dar1a g (daria g), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 21:05 (twenty years ago)

new bedford has AWESOME thrifting!!

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 21:08 (twenty years ago)

i got eight green depression shot glasses for $2 each at an antique store in new bedford

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 21:08 (twenty years ago)

My quest for red earth illuminator failed! They said they didn't carry it anymore. But I think there's a shop in the mall downtown (I'm in Montreal, Sunny). I will look into the other ones mentioned here though too - if there's something I'm a sucker for it is department-store cosmetics. But yeah, anyway, the questing made me change into brown cords and put a belt on, plus lilac-coloured hoodie.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 21:49 (twenty years ago)

thats inspiration!

i checked out the benefit site. their 'fake it' section rocks.

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 21:52 (twenty years ago)

I grew up in the suburbs of Fall River

Fight the Real Enemy -- Tasti D-Lite (ex machina), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 22:01 (twenty years ago)

groove is in the heart

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 22:09 (twenty years ago)

Navy fitted Philippe is a Bee t-shirt, A&F charcoal cargos, Tag Heuer Kirium, random jewelry in piercings, old glasses, cause new contacts still have not arrived.

ALLAH FROG (Mingus Dew), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 22:31 (twenty years ago)

Tan suede Clark's shoes, socks with a Union Jack pattern, preppy navy blue paints checked with a repeating red and white sailboat motif embroidered on them, a navy blue belt with a map of Cape Cod stitched onto it in white thread, a freaky Cerrutti shirt with a psychedelic mushroom pattern in red, white and blue, and a navy blue police officer sweater, and black eyeglass frames.
