Oh top job, you're well up the field there. Sounds like it must have been pretty crowded from those numbers. That winning time is sick though.
― The bugger in the short sleeves (NickB), Saturday, 28 November 2009 09:05 (sixteen years ago)
yeah, nice job, jeff! sometimes i am absolutely stunned by how fast race winners are, but your time is still pretty excellent.
― Maria, Saturday, 28 November 2009 14:35 (sixteen years ago)
Thanks!
― Jeff, Saturday, 28 November 2009 16:13 (sixteen years ago)
Four miles today to pass 100 for the month and surpass last months total as well. I'll try and do the same for December, but I'd like to set a totally outrageous goal for 2010. Something like 2000 miles.
― Jeff, Sunday, 29 November 2009 19:45 (sixteen years ago)
Signs of improvement. I ran 100 miles in 15 runs, as opposed to 17 last month. Also overall I ran for 10 less minutes this month to reach the same distance. My overall pace dropped from 9:03 to 8:48.
― Jeff, Sunday, 29 November 2009 19:50 (sixteen years ago)
2,000 miles sounds like a huge number!
― The bugger in the short sleeves (NickB), Sunday, 29 November 2009 20:03 (sixteen years ago)
5K in 26.07!!
― Dr.C, Tuesday, 1 December 2009 09:27 (sixteen years ago)
3 days into December and I've yet to run. My life is over.
― Jeff, Thursday, 3 December 2009 13:42 (sixteen years ago)
dr c, congrats!
i really want to do 100 miles this month, the flu held me back in november. i'm only at 9 so far though, and i skipped this morning because of pouring rain and gusting wind. i think i'm going to be doing some pretty heavy running (for me) the week of christmas.
― Maria, Thursday, 3 December 2009 13:58 (sixteen years ago)
Now I got the flu here too, so December is also a blank for me so far. Supposed to be doing a ten-mile race on Sunday, but bollocks to that.
― The bugger in the short sleeves (NickB), Thursday, 3 December 2009 14:18 (sixteen years ago)
And yeah, Dr C: that's almost TWO MINUTES off your previous time!
― The bugger in the short sleeves (NickB), Thursday, 3 December 2009 14:19 (sixteen years ago)
That is fantastic.
― Jeff, Thursday, 3 December 2009 14:25 (sixteen years ago)
Thanks everyone - not bad for an old git. It actually felt pretty comfortable, and I reckon I can get another minute or more off soon. I will try a 10K when I get the chance too.
Hope everyone with flu gets better soon. Don't fret about not running for a week or so Jeff - sometimes a rest is not a bad thing.
Maria - Christmas week is a good time to run, definitely. I am hoping for a couple of LONG runs during that time, it's also a nice escape route from the inevitable family squabbles that happen (at least in my house) around the festive season :(
― Dr.C, Thursday, 3 December 2009 15:04 (sixteen years ago)
yeah, i'll be traveling a bit to visit relatives and i'm already thinking, "hmm, i should check out some routes on google maps before we go"! we have the squabbles too, not to mention just the boredom of being at someone else's house and not having much to do.
hope you feel better soon, nick. recovery's more important than racing, sounds like you'll need sunday off.
― Maria, Thursday, 3 December 2009 15:06 (sixteen years ago)
Incidentally - someone said that I have a good build for a runner. I always assumed good runners were sort of slight and small-medium height, and I'm 6'4'' and about 85kg (13 stone 5/187 pounds), which isn't! What sizes/shapes are you ILX running types?
― Dr.C, Thursday, 3 December 2009 15:19 (sixteen years ago)
i haven't run in almost 2 weeks bc of flu and it makes me sad.
― tehresa, Thursday, 3 December 2009 18:09 (sixteen years ago)
I'm 6', 170 pounds. Since I've started running a lot, my weight fluxuations have moved from 171-174 to 168-171. I would really like to be at 160 again (I was there a couple of years ago), I think that would really help my times.
― Jeff, Thursday, 3 December 2009 19:14 (sixteen years ago)
im heavier than jeff by a little but also 6'

i think i'm down at around 150# these days? 5'7"
― crazy farting throwback jersey (gbx), Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:11 (sixteen years ago)
haven't run in 3 weeks. i think my foot is infected :(
― harbl, Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:12 (sixteen years ago)
i could totally beat up gbx though
― harbl, Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:13 (sixteen years ago)
6'0" tall, 154 pounds. My legs are in good shape, but my arms are like twigs.
Poor harbl foot!
― The bugger in the short sleeves (NickB), Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:16 (sixteen years ago)
it's just a blister and it's scabbed over but i think the location is making it heal slowly? it's on the side of my heel and every time i walk it's like this nagging soreness. running might be easier than walking though, less heel strike
― harbl, Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:19 (sixteen years ago)
maybe you should stop kicking gbx
― jazzgasms (Mr. Que), Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:19 (sixteen years ago)
why would i kick him when i can just sit on him
― harbl, Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:21 (sixteen years ago)
haha this thread made me weigh myself for the like the first time in forever
harbl i have found that alternating running with swimming has really helped cut down on minor injuries esp to my feet but ive turned into this big swimming proselytizer
― Lamp, Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:28 (sixteen years ago)
oh it wasn't from running! i just had to wear normal shoes somewhere and underestimated the amt of walking i'd have to do basically. i wish i had a place to swim though.
― harbl, Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:29 (sixteen years ago)
i am 5'10" and 155 but i don't think of myself as a running type ; )
― harbl, Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:32 (sixteen years ago)
i am extremely wee compared to all of you. 5'2". maybe this is why i am so slow. (i think maria is short too, though, so there goes my theory)
― figgy pudding (La Lechera), Thursday, 3 December 2009 20:43 (sixteen years ago)
I'm like 5'7 and 185? But tza can rep that i am not porcine, i hope.
― Drama Mama's and Papa's too! (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 3 December 2009 21:39 (sixteen years ago)
i am 5'7" and a fattey but uh... less of a fattey than i used to be? anyway it's a process, but i will never have a 'runner's physique' so whatever.
forks i have seen in states of normalcy and buffness but never fattness.
― tehresa, Thursday, 3 December 2009 21:41 (sixteen years ago)

me too!
― crazy farting throwback jersey (gbx), Thursday, 3 December 2009 21:45 (sixteen years ago)
i'm kind of in softening normalcy at the moment; starting to do those mile and a half nightly jogs and 20-40 minutes on the stationary bike to get back to a point where I can get my cardio on come January.
― Drama Mama's and Papa's too! (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 3 December 2009 21:46 (sixteen years ago)
oh another thing - all my height is in my torso so that probably also makes me a bad runner but i like it so whatever.
― tehresa, Thursday, 3 December 2009 21:47 (sixteen years ago)
sometimes i wonder if i am a weakling. for me, running 2.5 miles 4-5x a week is totally "getting my cardio on". i've never exercised this much in my entire life. any more and i would feel like it was taking over.
― figgy pudding (La Lechera), Thursday, 3 December 2009 21:48 (sixteen years ago)
i have like the shortest torso! btw i'm very very slow
― harbl, Thursday, 3 December 2009 21:54 (sixteen years ago)
(note: sometimes i run for 40-45 min, which brings up my distance, but more than 45 min and WHOA TIME TO GET OUT OF HERE)
― figgy pudding (La Lechera), Thursday, 3 December 2009 21:55 (sixteen years ago)
lechera, it's all really relative. this is less than i'd like to be doing but pretty much the max of what i feel comfortable with. There was a time when I was doing a lot more but never anywhere near some of the numbers I'm hearing on this thread. you're not a weakling, you're you and the elastic capabilities of you are really personal.
― Drama Mama's and Papa's too! (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 3 December 2009 21:59 (sixteen years ago)
you're righti'm certainly not ambitious enough to try any harder than i'm trying atm
― figgy pudding (La Lechera), Thursday, 3 December 2009 22:01 (sixteen years ago)
i am rly interested in ppl's heights because they always surprise me. i had imagined forks and lechera being really tall people!
― harbl, Thursday, 3 December 2009 22:02 (sixteen years ago)
all my height is in my torso so that probably also makes me a bad runner but i like it so whatever
lol u shld swim
― Lamp, Thursday, 3 December 2009 22:02 (sixteen years ago)
i like how i abbrev'd in the first sentence but not the second wtf
― harbl, Thursday, 3 December 2009 22:03 (sixteen years ago)
ha, i have been a lil' fire hydranty guy since high school and super shrimpy prior.
― Drama Mama's and Papa's too! (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 3 December 2009 22:13 (sixteen years ago)
ha! really? i am (and, sadly, have always been) v short. it truly delights me to think that anyone ever thought i would be tall.
!!my sleepover camp name was shrimpy!!!
