El Tomboto, Thursday, 27 September 2007 13:18 (eighteen years ago)

I am like half-way through reading every single strip in order, having started about a month ago. It has all the characteristics of the very best sitcoms.

Just got offed, Thursday, 27 September 2007 13:46 (eighteen years ago)

^^^^^^ trolling or not? anyone, besides jagger?

El Tomboto, Thursday, 27 September 2007 14:48 (eighteen years ago)

Give it a rest Tom.

kv_nol, Thursday, 27 September 2007 14:49 (eighteen years ago)

Today Ray = Alec Baldwin in 30 Rock

Jordan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 14:50 (eighteen years ago)

hoping there will be another strip tomorrow for full fuck you friday fullfillingness

stevie, Thursday, 27 September 2007 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

seriously this is some kind of awesome, have just gotten up to the end of 2004, will save the rest for other days.

Just got offed, Thursday, 27 September 2007 15:18 (eighteen years ago)

They're giving away free Achewood tats at a place in Portland! If I had hell of frequent flier miles I would be there in a second.

Abbott, Thursday, 27 September 2007 20:40 (eighteen years ago)

Do you want me to get one for you, Abbott?

Clay, Thursday, 27 September 2007 20:46 (eighteen years ago)

Plz! And you can write my name under it if you want. VICARIOUS LIFE IS GREAT.

Abbott, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:16 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe I'll have it be Roast Beef on the moon but instead of JAVA he'll write ABBOTT onto my forearm.

Clay, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:28 (eighteen years ago)

Oh my goodness! :D

Abbott, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:29 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know how you'd explain it later in life. "Uh...I just really liked Flatland."

Abbott, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

Former MLB pitcher Jim Abbott taught me so much about perseverance and how we should all just do our best no matter what!

Do you think anybody would buy that?

Clay, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:39 (eighteen years ago)

HAHAHAHA I would. There's plenty of barely-explicable tats in this world.

Abbott, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:42 (eighteen years ago)

I think I would get that Ray shirt they had a few years ago. Sadly I lost the shirt and contacting Chris & crew brought no results. Someday though...

kv_nol, Friday, 28 September 2007 08:25 (eighteen years ago)

Oh sorry, the design on the shirt that I would have tatooed on to me was ray from hip up at 3/4 profile holding a martini glass gold medallion and nipples proudly on display. It was great.

kv_nol, Friday, 28 September 2007 08:26 (eighteen years ago)

Ray will slo-mo this footage and set it to SRV's Life By The Drop

mookieproof, Friday, 28 September 2007 12:59 (eighteen years ago)

haha fuck, purely by coincidence I've just reached the initial explanation for 'fuck you friday'. i think tombot should just post that comic rather than zing people from now on.

Just got offed, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:09 (eighteen years ago)

For me nothing beats Phillipe being possessed by the soul of Billy Joel. "Ray you old punter! Got a fag for your mate?" Despite this phrase supposedly being British, I think I am the only person in Britain who says it. It drives my boyfriend mad.

Anna, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:14 (eighteen years ago)

this remains the pinnacle of achewood - and possibly western narrative fiction - thus far:

stevie, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:17 (eighteen years ago)

"That's Todd. I know him. I know Todd."

stevie, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:18 (eighteen years ago)

I was thinking about carving a Philippe pumpkin this year.

I think the one after the one stevie just posted is my absolute favorite (the driftwood one) but that one is pretty fantastic too.

Vinnie, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:21 (eighteen years ago)

That is one of my favorites.

n/a, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:26 (eighteen years ago)

"Wallace Shawn is ears-deep in cleavage just giggling his head off"

brilliant

Frogman Henry, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:28 (eighteen years ago)

I have this on my bookcase...

Jordan, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:46 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, it's wicked

max r, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:47 (eighteen years ago)

try again

Jordan, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:49 (eighteen years ago)

ray is the best character, hands down

max r, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

Ray vs. Philippe

n/a, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:52 (eighteen years ago)

Probably Ray, Philippe is kind of twee but still awesome

n/a, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

I see so much of Roast Beef in myself I can't really side with anyone else. I suspect quite a bit of ILX is gonna have my back here, also

DJ Mencap, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

Roast Beef is my worst case self and Ray is my idealized self.

Jordan, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:55 (eighteen years ago)

I suspect that may be implicit in the strip re: Onstad

DJ Mencap, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

(suspicion largely unfounded, based on one or two interviews I read with him)

DJ Mencap, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

phillipe is a bit twee yes, but i guess kids just are, that's were twee comes from innit. roast beef is just a classic misery case comedy character, but mr smuckles kills it.

max r, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

You need to read more/closer if all you get out of Phillipe is 'twee'

DJ Mencap, Friday, 28 September 2007 15:01 (eighteen years ago)

no one "gets" phillipe ;_;

mookieproof, Friday, 28 September 2007 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

Roast Beef is my worst case self and Ray is my idealized self.

v.much OTM

stevie, Friday, 28 September 2007 15:15 (eighteen years ago)

You need to read more/closer if all you get out of Phillipe is 'twee'

-- DJ Mencap, Friday, 28 September 2007 16:01 (12 minutes ago)

k, man i'll have to think really deeply about a stuffed toy baby otter in a web comic, maybe i'll write a thesis on it.

max r, Friday, 28 September 2007 15:15 (eighteen years ago)

Philippe's fucking great. Yeah, a whole comic with nothing but Philippe would be a bit much, but as one character in an ensemble piece he's a fantastic alternative viewpoint, he's twee BUT HE'S FIVE ffs. I love Philippe.

Mark C, Friday, 28 September 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

nothing much can beat nice pete's description of murder

Just got offed, Friday, 28 September 2007 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

I'd have to say Lyle is my worst-case self. He looks like fun at first, but man, you don't want to be him.

Beef is... relatable, let's say.

kenan, Friday, 28 September 2007 15:24 (eighteen years ago)

I think (hope) I might grow up to be a little like Cornelius. Failing that, Ray. Failing that, Vlad.

Just got offed, Friday, 28 September 2007 15:27 (eighteen years ago)

Much as I love all the characters, I think I would get the waiting motorcycle, from the last panel of the strip in which Ray and Beef burn down the Great Outdoor Fight grounds, as a tattoo. It is a powerful symbol of hope.

xero, Friday, 28 September 2007 15:35 (eighteen years ago)

cornelius = m. white/I DIED
philippe = tuomas
lyle = tombot
nice pete = k3rry
teodor = lj
molly = stevie nixed
t-t-t-todd = aaronhz
emeril = t''t/rjg

mookieproof, Friday, 28 September 2007 15:47 (eighteen years ago)

I can live with that, actually. Who's Lie Bot?

max = todd btw :D
