jouster, your friend has problems! the whole climax/denouement was so fricken out there. the brownie speech? loooooool
― la monte jung (cutty), Saturday, 21 November 2009 13:01 (sixteen years ago)
yeah the climax was out there. . . somewhere
― jazzgasms (Mr. Que), Saturday, 21 November 2009 14:43 (sixteen years ago)
That climax was so funny. Cutting between all the characters and having them harmonize that song was the funniest/craziest thing I've seen from NBC Thursdays this year, prob.
― Cunga, Saturday, 21 November 2009 15:58 (sixteen years ago)
Agreed on the climax, and while it was still pretty feel-good and look at everyone coming together and achieving their goals, it did it in a way that wasn't the aspirational preachiness of most of the episodes so far.
― dan selzer, Saturday, 21 November 2009 17:26 (sixteen years ago)
I forgot about the Dark Knight parody scene, though. That was good as well. Did anyone else hear rumors that the shows' creator isn't even sure if he wants to do more than one season of this? He'd rather have one amazing season than see quality slip over time.
Here's a youtube of the "Somewhere, Out There" scene:

man that is better the second time around. when senor chang screams? loooool
― la monte jung (cutty), Saturday, 21 November 2009 19:47 (sixteen years ago)
He'd rather have one amazing season than see quality slip over time.
Uh. The show is getting fairly good but come on.

I think it's far from great, though I enjoy it and have hopes. Just last night I said, "this is better then Parks and Recreation was last year", and P+R has been a total gem this year. I think Community can go either way. I'm rooting for it.

best episode ever. when troy was hungover at the end!
― mascara and pies (a hoy hoy), Friday, 4 December 2009 10:49 (sixteen years ago)
Pretty good episode. That security cop is from the Dasariski improv show in LA.
― Cunga, Friday, 4 December 2009 22:06 (sixteen years ago)
loved troy writing the crabs joke.
― Wee xx (a hoy hoy), Friday, 4 December 2009 22:23 (sixteen years ago)
He has such great facial expressions and split-second comic timing. I think that's what a previous poster meant when they said he was a subtle actor.
Remember "Ha. I'm funny." from a few weeks ago?
― Cunga, Friday, 4 December 2009 22:26 (sixteen years ago)
Okay, is that Anthony Michael Hall in the Freddie Mercury mustache?
I'm loving this particular episode more than most, so far.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 December 2009 01:08 (sixteen years ago)
Oh bah. I posted on the other Community thread. Anyway, my fave two moments so far this episode:
"Ho ho ho. Merry happy!"
And Annie being Jewish.
― Mordy, Friday, 11 December 2009 01:09 (sixteen years ago)
"So, I didn't know you were a Jew." <--this isn't an offensive thing to say!
― Mordy, Friday, 11 December 2009 01:13 (sixteen years ago)
Man, Donald Glover is just about my favorite person in the world right now. "Give him the Forest Whitaker eye!"
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 December 2009 01:14 (sixteen years ago)
lol "To me, religion is like Paul Rudd."
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 December 2009 01:15 (sixteen years ago)
i just lost it with the forest whitaker eye
― Bastards of Young Dro, Friday, 11 December 2009 01:16 (sixteen years ago)
Now I'm afraid this show has peaked, because that was the best/funniest episode yet.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 December 2009 01:27 (sixteen years ago)
so pumped for this episode now (west coast).

"am i right, JEW?"
― Siberian Klaatu (get bent), Friday, 11 December 2009 04:21 (sixteen years ago)
One of the things I like about this show is that within ~12 eps, they've built up the characters so that when Shirley talks about her post-final Christmas party, I am already anticipating lolz.
― kingfish, Friday, 11 December 2009 06:22 (sixteen years ago)
Jesus, this one was awesome. From Abed backing up Britta's jokes to the end-credits sequence.

"Why'd she have to be black?" was maybe my favorite line, but there were many good ones.
― Cunga, Friday, 11 December 2009 20:46 (sixteen years ago)

i was never particularly into Chevy Chase, but man, everything he does on this show has me breaking up
― dell (del), Monday, 14 December 2009 02:43 (sixteen years ago)
he's doing everything he's always done!
― robster craws (cutty), Monday, 14 December 2009 04:10 (sixteen years ago)
I think this is the best episode yet. This show is becoming comedy gold.
Chevy Chase is good in this show, because he's used sparingly. Chevy Chase vehicles are usually awful; CC as an ensemble cast member = comedy gold.

Didn't much care for the pilot so didn't watch further, but because I have no life, watched the mini-marathon, I have now some catching up to do. Also, Mrs. Pete Campbell is yowza.
― Leee, Tuesday, 29 December 2009 19:54 (sixteen years ago)
good thing you have no life. this show is the best!
― bum-sniff deviant (cutty), Tuesday, 29 December 2009 19:55 (sixteen years ago)
I wouldn't go that far, but yes, I quite like it now.

This isn't really correct. In the AV Club interview -- http://www.avclub.com/milwaukee/articles/how-dan-harmon-went-from-doing-comedysportz-in-mil,34126/ -- Harmon said he only wants to be showrunner for the first season and then let someone else do it so he can go off and do other projects. And obviously if it's successful NBC will keep it going regardless of the creator's level of involvement. Kinda makes sense, since Harmon did the Channel 101 website and Acceptable TV series on VH1 (which was awesome and hilarious), where they'd create new mini-shows every week and let people vote on whether they come back for new episodes, so I can see how he'd get bored doing the same show for years and years.
