I am posting from Zing Touch.

Im sure I am just dense but what are the diffs btwn the paid and free zinger? I need to update my tooch sw before i can even use this anyway.

There is also the buy-Stet-a-pint version, Zing Touch, which is £4.99/$7.99 and will probably get new features first. Right now they are identical, except for some wee ads in Zing Lite.

Featurerequests: reordering of boards in the board list, so I can drag my favourites to the top. And those little filled-or-hollow bullet points that tell me whether there are new posts in a thread.

I will, happily, because just yesterday I figured out how to do screenshots on an iPhone: as you hold the home button at the bottom, press the sleep button on top. It saves a screenshot to your photoroll, which you can then email to yourself and upload to tinypic.

Oops, I didn't see stet's post just above with the link to screenshots. Yeah, it basically looks like that. The only main difference is that pictures don't appear in the thread - you have to click on the individual posts to see them. Which is actually fine, because it makes picture heavy threads load a lot faster.

Again, great work Stet, this is going to make goofing off on ILX waaaaay easier at work now. :)

Thank you! Yeah, it's never done the images inline -- the performance would be really horrible and slow. I might look at doing an image browser like in Facebook for picture threads, though.

I've never heard of topic muting. Where is that supposed to be applied?

Basically everywhere. If you hit the info button when looking at a thread and choose “mute”, the thread should in theory vanish for you - won’t appear in New Answers, Bookmarks or Search.

It is working for me in the current dev version so I’ll push that out and we can see if it fixes it for everyone

(It only applies per-device - just that Zing on that phone or iPad will mute)

Thank you - I’m quite a distractible, irritable person at times and it’s a godsend to not have to read some of the more “whimsical” titles for threads I have no interest in.

It must be said, I find many thread titles annoying and would use mute for that function but I cannot explain how viscerally disgusting I find the band name “Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel” so whenever this comes in I’m going to be really happy to never see that again.

I should say that ilx in general, and Zing in particular, are luxuries for which I’m grateful every day.

Have a bug on iPad version, not sure if it came up already, where the thread list will not appear until I flip the iPad in landscape

It's true — but at least I can get it released eventually (I hope). Google Play won't let me release Android Zing properly until I have 14 continuous testers on Android, which is too high a bar.

I've heard one of the problems now is that vibe coding has absolutely flooded the app stores with frivolous/spam/junk submissions

Won't take long until these are passed to AI as well and it will go "I wrote that, it's shite!".

I downloaded this update and I’m sorry to report the mute thread function isn’t “sticky” in the same way that the mute poster one is, as in you can mute a thread but once you go to a different app and come back the muted topic reappears.

Not sure if it had a recent update but Zing is cutting off the last line of a proportion of posts on my iPad Pro 11 (landscape screen).
Also, dunno if it helps with Zing iOS but the nifty sidebar for new posts in a thread is always just the last post, rather than all the new posts since I opened the thread last. Thought that may relate to some kind of session ID which is resetting and breaking the “muted thread” memory.
Lastly a UI suggestion, it would be fun if thread muting worked by left swiping the topic in the questions list.
Gee, I don’t ask for much, do I? Would be happy to pay for this app as a way to support you and/or the site.

What theme do you have set and what text size in accessibility settings? I’ll try and replicate. I don’t think I totally understand the sidebar thing, what could be newer than the last post?
