this thread just really makes me want a chicken parmigiana hero. the only way to get a good one out here is to make it myself, but that's so not gonna happen tonight.

Alan Sepinwall of the normally OTM http://sepinwall.blogspot.com/ and the commenters also sounding the death knell of the show, but yeah, AV Club was particularly dire. Most of them hate Jenna so they are imo worse than Nazis.
PS Dot Com was robbed. TT__TT
― Leee, Saturday, 7 November 2009 02:48 (sixteen years ago)
i went out and had a chicken parm sub for dinner in honor of this thread.
― Nhex, Saturday, 7 November 2009 02:56 (sixteen years ago)
Anyone sounding the death knell of this show is just being a contrary retard. This ep in particular was spectacular.

Kathy Geiss was a Susan Boyle ref, right? Loved that they brought her back for that.
― Not the real Village People, Saturday, 7 November 2009 06:27 (sixteen years ago)
All the commenters on the AV Club article hate the Cisco plug, but as a necessary evil I thought it came off pretty well, especially Jonathan's apologetic "it's almost as good as being there!" Anyway, it was light years better than the product placement on 24, where the President kept going back to the "Cisco Telepresence Suite" to take threatening calls from terrorists or whatever.

lol @ the taxi driver: "Mugabe's concubines!"
And did anyone notice the credits?
Guest Starring:
Martin Scorsese as himself
Christopher Walken as himself
Gilbert Gottfried as himself
btw I think this season has been really strong, don't really get the "oh it was so much better before" stuff.
― musically, Sunday, 8 November 2009 08:29 (sixteen years ago)
haha i noticed that in the credits, had to google to make sure it was just a joke
― lindsay goham (some dude), Sunday, 8 November 2009 14:07 (sixteen years ago)
i rewatched the episode last night and i'm sure i said "mugabe's concubines" at least twice since then.
― the tamiflu show (get bent), Sunday, 8 November 2009 14:09 (sixteen years ago)
xpost
Are you sure it was a joke? The voices on the phone certainly sounded like their voices.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Sunday, 8 November 2009 15:40 (sixteen years ago)
i'm starting to come over to anti-backlash backlash myself. the show is fun!
― Nhex, Sunday, 8 November 2009 15:53 (sixteen years ago)
or is that backlash backlash. whatever!
― Nhex, Sunday, 8 November 2009 15:54 (sixteen years ago)
xxp Yeah, I think it was really them -- dude was lip-synching in the audition.
― Nuyorican oatmeal (jaymc), Sunday, 8 November 2009 16:06 (sixteen years ago)
yeah i guess...i went to imdb to confirm it was them and couldn't find anything, but maybe it was just too soon
― lindsay goham (some dude), Sunday, 8 November 2009 16:12 (sixteen years ago)
too soon
― banned, on the run (s1ocki), Sunday, 8 November 2009 16:38 (sixteen years ago)
"sir gilbert gottfried" was awesome
haha yeah that might've been my fav line in the episode
― lindsay goham (some dude), Sunday, 8 November 2009 16:56 (sixteen years ago)
it really got me perfectly too... like i was expecting it to be a joke, but i never saw "gottfried" coming after the "gilbert"
― banned, on the run (s1ocki), Sunday, 8 November 2009 17:00 (sixteen years ago)
Don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but Brian Williams was amazing.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Sunday, 8 November 2009 19:29 (sixteen years ago)
he was really funny on 'wait, wait...' a few weeks ago, too!
― tehresa, Sunday, 8 November 2009 20:01 (sixteen years ago)
I don't think it's been as strong as the parts of other seasons -- it's been good to pretty good thus far, which is how I think that season 3 began too before it went to next level -- but saying that the show needs to be put down is internet idiocy at its finest.
― Leee, Sunday, 8 November 2009 20:17 (sixteen years ago)
the backlash argument seems to be that theyre leaning too hard on stando comedy tropes like the audition montage - its a legit criticism but ultimately doesnt really matter cause the shoe is still so funnay
― ice cr?m, Sunday, 8 November 2009 20:22 (sixteen years ago)
Maybe they are just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
― Leee, Sunday, 8 November 2009 20:23 (sixteen years ago)
