I wish they had done more with Dot-Com. "Dot-Com wants to audition" seems like a storyline you could wring a B-story from for a coupla episodes at least.

With all of the fantastic technology out there, how in the hell are we not able to get all DVRs to be "smart" enough to shift with shows?

& other try hard shitfests (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 6 November 2009 17:42 (sixteen years ago)

it still might?

i'd love to see him get an actual job and try and see how tracy/grizz copes, possibly?

autogooner (a hoy hoy), Friday, 6 November 2009 17:43 (sixteen years ago)

loved grizz's origami seagull!!

tehresa, Friday, 6 November 2009 18:12 (sixteen years ago)

show is always great but this one was just solid gold

r|t|c, Friday, 6 November 2009 18:16 (sixteen years ago)

[ insert retyping of joke in said show that made me laugh ]

r|t|c, Friday, 6 November 2009 18:18 (sixteen years ago)

av club keeps trying to start the 30 rock backlash: http://www.avclub.com/articles/audition-day,35071/

i dunno, i laughed enough at this one that i don't really care if it's not advancing kenneth's character arc or whatever

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Friday, 6 November 2009 18:27 (sixteen years ago)

That kind of bitter obsessing reminds me of the old television without pity message boards where there would be angry two week arguments over what kind of sandwich some character ate.

ô_o (Nicole), Friday, 6 November 2009 18:35 (sixteen years ago)

cisco and soyjoy are inherently hilarious!
more placement of ridiculous-sounding products please.

Philip Nunez, Friday, 6 November 2009 18:37 (sixteen years ago)

One of the nice things about having written for the A.V Club for almost thirteen years is... <<o jeez

ice cr?m, Friday, 6 November 2009 18:38 (sixteen years ago)

guys you can make it so the DVR records an extra minute or more at the beginning or end.

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Friday, 6 November 2009 18:45 (sixteen years ago)

yeah Nathan "no really The Simpsons is still the best show on TV!" Rabin urging everyone off the 30 Rock bandwagon is a laugh

lindsay goham (some dude), Friday, 6 November 2009 18:46 (sixteen years ago)

i mean i kept resisting linking it on this thread and spoiling the good vibes but seriously wtf is this shit: http://www.avclub.com/articles/30-rocks-dangerous-decline-and-the-shadow-of-will,34074/

lindsay goham (some dude), Friday, 6 November 2009 18:47 (sixteen years ago)

that was ridiculous^^^^

TGAAPQ (Mr. Que), Friday, 6 November 2009 18:48 (sixteen years ago)

does 30 rock really have poor ratings

so, the footlong that liz enjoyed in this latest ep... it was a meatball sub, yes? i didn't get a real good look at it.

iiiijjjj, Friday, 6 November 2009 18:50 (sixteen years ago)

how dare he not slobber all over every second of every episode like this thread does!

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Friday, 6 November 2009 18:50 (sixteen years ago)

i thought it was a cheesesteak

TGAAPQ (Mr. Que), Friday, 6 November 2009 18:51 (sixteen years ago)

I really wanted to see dot-com audition, only downer from this episode.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Friday, 6 November 2009 18:51 (sixteen years ago)

did you miss the part where he auditioned??

tehresa, Friday, 6 November 2009 18:52 (sixteen years ago)

my dvr is set to record extra minutes mostly, but I get worried on nights where other stuff is recording because if you have one show going over and the next show starting on time and a show set to record on another channel, the whole thing explodes, and I don't have renter's insurance.

dan selzer, Friday, 6 November 2009 18:53 (sixteen years ago)

I must have done, odd, must rewatch.

It looked like it was from manginaro's heroboy tbh

Meatcat (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 6 November 2009 19:13 (sixteen years ago)

dudes it was clearly fucking CHICKEN PARM god

ice cr?m, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:16 (sixteen years ago)

srsly

Meatcat (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 6 November 2009 19:18 (sixteen years ago)

no one on this thread knows anything about the history of sandwiches on 30 Rock, obviously.

TGAAPQ (Mr. Que), Friday, 6 November 2009 19:19 (sixteen years ago)

Mangenero's makes the best chicken parm. The mozzarella is so goddamn fresh that it actually tastes like it's good for you, I don't mean that it tastes like health-food, but that it doesn't taste like it's going to kill you.

dan selzer, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:20 (sixteen years ago)

They are based on Tina Fey's true love of sandwiches?

Philip Nunez, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:20 (sixteen years ago)

like how Tracy's ankle bracelet was real

Philip Nunez, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:21 (sixteen years ago)

just cause liz enjoys meatball doesnt mean she cant ever eat CHICKEN PARM

ice cr?m, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:23 (sixteen years ago)

not poor, just average, that article's "it'd get cancelled on any other network" stuff is a little overstated

lindsay goham (some dude), Friday, 6 November 2009 19:24 (sixteen years ago)

30 rocks ratings were super bad the 1st 2 seasons iirc

ice cr?m, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:33 (sixteen years ago)

btw jacks announcement on the subway was wonderful - i luv when they include ny in jokes - makes me feel special

scott seward, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:37 (sixteen years ago)

it is doing ok right now (though still last place among the networks). at the same time it's very questionable that it would have made it to season 4 on another network, all the same

jesus that WAS a big sub

Nhex, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:38 (sixteen years ago)

scott you beat me!

as a philly native it would certainly be in keeping with liz's character but i don't see anything that looks like peppers or onions in that sandwich so cheesesteak is out imo

iiiijjjj, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:41 (sixteen years ago)

^ the meat there almost looks too dark to be chicken though (???)

iiiijjjj, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:41 (sixteen years ago)

well okay, what do we have? we have a long sub with a red sauce and some white substance that may be cheese

TGAAPQ (Mr. Que), Friday, 6 November 2009 19:42 (sixteen years ago)

How do you know it's not mayo?!?!

ô_o (Nicole), Friday, 6 November 2009 19:42 (sixteen years ago)

nah man breaded, fried chicken can look darker, esp when drenched in sauce.
xpost

tehresa, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:43 (sixteen years ago)

and b/c breaded the chicken might be darker? it could be a veal parm sub but that would be crazy

TGAAPQ (Mr. Que), Friday, 6 November 2009 19:43 (sixteen years ago)

tina fey on working with alec baldwin:

Why are you two so great together?
I think part of it is that he is excellent. You could put a bag of sandwiches next to him and people would say, “Oh, you work so well together. You make these sandwiches look wonderful.” I think that’s a big part of it. Mostly, I try to learn from him, because he’s such a skilled film actor.

scott seward, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:44 (sixteen years ago)

look for the record i am NOT against the sandwich being a chicken parmesean sandwich ok. i love those sandwiches. i just... i just want to know for sure.

iiiijjjj, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:44 (sixteen years ago)

Just go here for lunch tomorrow if u r in NYC/midtown area. commit to it.

Meatcat (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 6 November 2009 19:44 (sixteen years ago)

the meat is too big to be meatballs - could be veal tho - but veal is same color as chicken more or less

ice cr?m, Friday, 6 November 2009 19:45 (sixteen years ago)

She was workin' at the place where they sell veal parmesan
Now she's gone, now she's gone, yeah she's gone oh so gone
