actually sort of impressed with how brazenly they plug stuff on the show and yet still manage to make it just this side of tasteful and non-intrusive. would prefer that they not do it at all, but they ride the line well

no need to apologise, the torrent i downloaded didn't have adverts. it is just, how do you cope? they advertise in the show then plague you with advert breaks as well?

advertising in the show is kind of a new thing i think. you just kind of deal, tune it out. a lot of people use the mute button and converse with a friend or a loved one or get up and do something during commercial breaks. some people tivo and just zip through the commercials.

It's a really old thing, actually. TV just fell out of the habit of it for about 40 years.

actually i'm sort of annoyed that they will actually pull the producer credit, making me think the show is definitely over. a lot of times i just switch off at that point (don't want to miss the beginning of Sunny!) but then I flipped back last night and saw that subway bit during the credits! geez, don't do that nbc.

at least w/shows like community, parks and rec, and office, i know they will always do credits gags. 30 rock seems to be pretty sporadic with them. but it's sort of a universal thing on TV, once you do the cut-to-producer credit that's the end of the show.

it's super annoying, basically a tactic to keep you watching till the very end of the half hour for spillover into the next show

I think it all depends on how much time was left over from the body of the show. 30 Rock can't always do it because it must be close to impossible to pack that show into its allotted 22:30. If they have time left over, I'm glad for them to tag more on.

really fucks with the DVR

I always assumed this was also the reason why shows had longer and longer pre-titles sequences, so you actually get a bit of the show - that you have to watch - before the ad break and then it comes back with the titles. America is ridiculous for ads.

god, next you guys will be dissing cheeseburgers and apple pies! in advertising we trust. it says it right there on the money!

i don't eat cheeseburgers. 1. vegetarian and 2. cheese + with your burger just kind of gross.

apple pies are cool tho.

its just an nbc thing now, to have the show end, then commercials, then that little last joke just before the next show, a way to make you watch commercials and watch the next show. Also a way to totally screw with my DVR because I watch the shows out of order so I go to watch The Office and have to watch the final joke of Parks and Recreation or I watch Parks and Recreation only and miss the very last joke. Annoying.

I wish they had done more with Dot-Com. "Dot-Com wants to audition" seems like a storyline you could wring a B-story from for a coupla episodes at least.

With all of the fantastic technology out there, how in the hell are we not able to get all DVRs to be "smart" enough to shift with shows?
