Hard to imagine someone putting Curb yr Enthusiasm as #1 (even though I love it), so I'm guessing that for the next one.

I was totally fooled by that for a second. Good work, man.

total shocker, now i'm starting to question whether BattleBots will be in the top 10

I hope NCIS is #1.

Doctor Who?

well done, have a biscuit.
Used to work when it was on, so I never really cared about Doctor Who. Kind of like the episodes where John Simms makes the doctor really freaking old and in a cage tho.

if i'd known there was gonna be biscuits i'd have been making more predictions

Dr Whovians, please explain how they plan to escape the regeneration limit as they chew through doctors? I asked someone this, and all I got were, "Oh, there are ways..."
― Philip Nunez, Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:37 (sixteen years ago)
so in the 21st century dr. who they got cool guy in leather who and then they went for harry potter looking whos. what's up with that?
― scott seward, Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:38 (sixteen years ago)
The Master ran out of regenerations and came back somehow, right? Didn't Gallifrey do some thing that brought him back to fight in the Time War?
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:40 (sixteen years ago)
^^^ i would approve of a 50-post tangent about Dr. Who if they'd all be as delightfully confusing as this one

Ok, the last for today...
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:50 (sixteen years ago)
I was expecting that to be Top 10, easily. I thought it had a lot of ilx love. Is it the highest ranking British programme?
― emil.y, Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:52 (sixteen years ago)
11. Deadwood (25 votes, 2 first place votes, 4460 points.)http://www.bigredhair.com/movies/deadwood.jpghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsPYJIat0lo

I was hoping that Deadwood would get at least a Top 10 placing. Just missed out. But that's okay.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:55 (sixteen years ago)
deadwood and gilmore girls making the list is sort of boggling my mind

Read closer.
Ah, yep, forgot about that.
― emil.y, Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:55 (sixteen years ago)
I only saw a couple of Deadwood episodes, and didn't really get it. It's obviously been said before, but once you get over giggling at Lovejoy's inventive swearing it's just boring.
― emil.y, Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:56 (sixteen years ago)
And I'm the other with Deadwood at 1.
― woofwoofwoof, Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:57 (sixteen years ago)
I had Deadwood at #7, but am currently rewatching and would rate it higher. Such great characters.
― EZ Snappin, Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:59 (sixteen years ago)
"once you get over giggling at Lovejoy's inventive swearing"
how is this humanly possible?
― Philip Nunez, Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:59 (sixteen years ago)
Okie doke. Here's yr top ten, then:
The Office (UK)The WireThe SopranosArrested Development30 RockLostMad MenFreaks And GeeksThe Daily ShowCurb Your Enthusiasm
I figured Eastbound & Down and The Shield for the top 20, but definitely not the top 10.
Does anyone disagree with that list, though? At least 8 or so are an absolute lock.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 5 November 2009 19:00 (sixteen years ago)
Spoken like someone who hasn't watched much of either. Some of the best television writing of the decade on those two shows.
I guess The Daily Show counts as a non-fiction programme, right? As we were told one was in the Top 10.
― emil.y, Thursday, 5 November 2009 19:01 (sixteen years ago)
xpost
Deadwood especially. The density of some of the writing totally boggled my mind.

EVERYONE.

Looking over the list, the only thing I really have any problem with is Gilmore Girls scoring so low. Although some of the reactions in this thread would seem to suggest that the WB marketing team should have tried some different strategies in order to differentiate GG from the rest of their programming. Like a different name, for a start? Seems like a lot of people who probably would have liked the show were put off by thinking the show was something other than what it was.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 5 November 2009 19:07 (sixteen years ago)
Also a little surprised by Doctor Who scoring as high as it did. I watched the first two series of the revamp and enjoyed them, but not enough to put it on my ballot. Plus, I guess it's just hard for me to think of Who as a 2000s series.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 5 November 2009 19:09 (sixteen years ago)
I always thought Gilmore Girls and Smallville would be much improved by having writing teams switch.
― Philip Nunez, Thursday, 5 November 2009 19:09 (sixteen years ago)
Nope, I think you've got it. The several people rooting for American Idol made me think that that could sneak onto the list, but it's hard to imagine any of the shows you listed not placing at all.
― jaymc, Thursday, 5 November 2009 19:11 (sixteen years ago)
Probably the correct placing for Dr. Who. It was in my top ten, but partly out of affection and having grown up with the old incarnation - it's probably been too patchy in the 00s to make an objective top ten (which is not to say that when it's good it's not very good).
― OK Abacus (chap), Thursday, 5 November 2009 19:14 (sixteen years ago)
I feel like Curb Your Enthusiasm could make it. I imagine it as the sort of show that a lot of people put in the 10th-best range, not a lot of top fives.
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Thursday, 5 November 2009 19:14 (sixteen years ago)
Could miss the list, rather.
I totally forgot to put Curb in my ballot! Probably would've been 20-10.
