Well done J0hn D.

for some reason it just wouldn't occur to me to vote for something like colbert show as much as i like it.
six feet under i watched faithfully for a couple of seasons and then, ugh, yeah, just got too...something. depressing. annoying. glib. i dunno. i just got sick of it.
― scott seward, Thursday, 5 November 2009 17:41 (sixteen years ago)
i think Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are hilarious but renting "Spaced" recently it was a little dull and felt like a tentative dry run by comparison...maybe it's 'more' British or something, though, because some stuff seemed to kinda go right over my head.
I think I said pretty much this somewhere above. I like these guys enough that I might give it another chance, though.
Peep Show finished waaaaaaay too low.
Buffy finished about where I expected, given the general ambivalence towards the final seasons. But I still maintain that season 5 is something most showrunners would give up their first-born to achieve, particularly "The Body". I've never wept as copiously at filmed entertainment (on two seperate occasions, no less!) than I have during that episode.

Oh. So both Colbert and The Daily Show are gonna be top 20? I kinda thought DS would cancel out Colbert.
SFU is tough going a lot of the time, but I think it was well worth it. It had the courage to make the main character transform into somewhat of an unrepentant douchebag. Who I secretly identified with quite a lot.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 5 November 2009 17:45 (sixteen years ago)
sopranos must be top ten, huh? i always forget how massive and everywhere that show was for so long. i watched the first four years of that and then lost interest. or maybe i just lost my hbo. can't remember. the length in between seasons REALLY annoyed the hell out of me. almost nine years for six seasons.
― scott seward, Thursday, 5 November 2009 17:45 (sixteen years ago)
Dobby is a proper guilty WS.
Kinda OTM.

OTM
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Thursday, 5 November 2009 17:46 (sixteen years ago)
Definitely expected Buffy to be higher, but I guess I shouldn't considered the bombed-out final season (and the general hate towards season 6, which i understand, but I liked it) and the whole generally being better in the 90s. glad every one agrees season 5 was tops, tho. re: sopranos--
i watched the first four years of that and then lost interest
ditto

Weird -- I made it through the entire run of seasons, and never noticed any downturn in watchability at all. Wished it lasted longer, actually. Ranked it #7.
― xhuxk, Thursday, 5 November 2009 17:52 (sixteen years ago)
i dunno why i put it 9th considering i stopped after 2nd season - i saw a few after that but couldn't commit
suddenly struck with horror at idea of Arrested Development not making it

― the goondock saints (some dude), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:03 (sixteen years ago)
whoever said the thing about south park producing the most watercooler moments was OTM in a big way.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:04 (sixteen years ago)
I don't know anyone who ever talks about South Park (by design?).
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:05 (sixteen years ago)
Not to say I haven't enjoyed an episode here and there, of course.
On occasion, it still brings the lols.
I'm more concerned about 30 Rock now. Should have placed it higher. AD is a deffo lock.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:06 (sixteen years ago)
and by 'deffo lock' I mean that if it isn't on here, I've had the internet all wrong for many years. It would be like the moment where I realised there was no God.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:07 (sixteen years ago)
I can say with as much assuredness as I've ever had in uttering a sentence that you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
30 Rock is a sure thing, too.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:08 (sixteen years ago)
AT my last job I always made a point of catching South Park bcz otherwise I wld not be able to participate in any conversations on Thursdays.

the next show is the highest to place without any #1 votes.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:08 (sixteen years ago)
There are only two shows thus far (Veronica Mars and Colbert) that slipped by me in my little top 20 prediction list above, and neither of them surprise me all that much. I think I'd just expected them to place lower and figured they wouldn't show up at all at this point. Top 15 or so, though, should be pretty easy to predict.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:10 (sixteen years ago)
go on then mr. i-can-predict-things
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:11 (sixteen years ago)
yeah, at this point it's really the order things appear in that will be interesting
― the goondock saints (some dude), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:11 (sixteen years ago)
guessing 30 rock for the next one
― PHEAR MY POORAPULT (jjjusten), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:11 (sixteen years ago)
I used to go to a bar with friends (and a lot of strangers) to watch South Park during its first couple of seasons. That's never happened with any other show. It was a phenomenon when it started, but it's definitely retained its watercooler status, if nothing else.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:12 (sixteen years ago)

Doctor Who?
― modescalator (blueski), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:13 (sixteen years ago)
I'm still confident about whatever's left of the 17 on my prediction list above, with the possible exception of The Shield, which was just a shot in the dark guess.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:13 (sixteen years ago)
I'm starting to worry that Freaks & Geeks didn't make this list at all--which would mean that the best TV show evah was beaten by Jackass and a bunch of British shows I'm pretty sure don't actually exist.
― President Keyes, Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:14 (sixteen years ago)
It is becoming pretty clear that my #3 show didn't make this list. :(
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:15 (sixteen years ago)
Don't underestimate the power of the Apatow Backlash xpost
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:15 (sixteen years ago)
So I guess SNL (which I ranked #20 even though this decade I've watched it even more erratically than I've watched my #13 Daily Show or #17 Colbert) isn't going to place, right?

SNL i really doubt seeing at this point

oh god. i was frightened for a moment.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:17 (sixteen years ago)
xpost I always thought of F&G as a Paul Feig show rather than an Apatow one. Since a lot of it was based on Feig's actual life.
― President Keyes, Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:17 (sixteen years ago)
Ha ha ha ha ha. Thank you, omar.
SNL is so not gonna happen.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 5 November 2009 18:19 (sixteen years ago)
that's true, but 95% of the people who know Apatow's name don't know Feig's, so that's how it's branded in retrospect

Hard to imagine someone putting Curb yr Enthusiasm as #1 (even though I love it), so I'm guessing that for the next one.

well done, have a biscuit.
Used to work when it was on, so I never really cared about Doctor Who. Kind of like the episodes where John Simms makes the doctor really freaking old and in a cage tho.
