I just looked through a list of Futurama epsodes to pick some favourites, and couldn't; so much gold.

Isn't Trayce a huge Futurama stan, too? I watched the first few episodes of Futurama back in '97 or whenever and enjoyed them but felt like I didn't really need another Simpsons in my life, even if it was The Simpsons: In Space! (I get the feeling it may have set itself apart after a while, though?)

Futurama at its best is as good as the best Simpsons imo.

i always wanted futurama to be better...then i thought it was. i've actually enjoyed family guy time-travel more and i'm not even a big family guy guy.

after i watched this weeks mad men i had a facebook update about Kennedy getting shot and i got like 10 replies about whether i was spoilering neighbours.

wow, expected to see that higher but i guess people don't like the later seasons?

Is that true? I guess I assumed it was because a lot of people haven't seen it, even though its fans are super-devoted.

well, there's SO many shows already on this list or still to come that are on cable and/or seem to have relatively small but devoted fanbases, i don't think that really says anything. plus it would only take 20 or 30 devoted fans on ILX for it to place higher, which i kind of assumed it had.

Ok, we all done with the sci-fi hour? On to #23...

i watched a few episodes of Futurama early on and then dismissed it for years, but then marrying a big fan of the show and it being in reruns all the time has won me over, it's definitely very much its own show (waaaay more than, say, American Dad/Family Guy, although that kinda goes without saying)

FOTC loses points in my book because you cannot watch the second season on online BBC4 so I have no idea if it is still as good. Really loved the first season though, and have a guilty crush on their stalker lady.

way behind the curve here, but just want to say that comparing Seinfeld to It's Always Sunny is really wrongheaded. Seinfeld is built around nothing happening, IASIP is built around EVERYTHING happening. Plus, the humor is about 100000x more edgy and envelope pushing.

also i always felt that the "all the characters are jerks" angle on seinfeld was a myth built up after the fact - plenty of people watching seinfeld at the time thought they were funny and charming. the IASIP cast are clearly fucked up from the first episode.

Ehhhh...at some point in like season 5, maybe, the Seinfeld cast started to turn pretty pointedly jerky. Like around the time of Susan's death.

true...but again, that least a few seasons where the show was hugely popular and the jerky angle wasn't played up or talked about as much

every character in Sunny is at reprehensible, but somehow so many seasons in it's still really amusing. their trying to be really edgy burned out after the first couple of seasons, though, now it's actually more slanted towards a south park-esque topical farce (though actually more consistently funny, somehow). the show is really amusing, what can I say! having lived in philly for several years, the show speaks amazingly true to it too

re: Seinfeld - after the finale aired, though, you could go back and watch the episodes again and you realize it totally WAS their intent all along, even during the massively popular later seasons, the characters actually become worse and worse!
