I just looked through a list of Futurama epsodes to pick some favourites, and couldn't; so much gold.
― OK Abacus (chap), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:45 (sixteen years ago)
Leee will be pleased.
Isn't Trayce a huge Futurama stan, too? I watched the first few episodes of Futurama back in '97 or whenever and enjoyed them but felt like I didn't really need another Simpsons in my life, even if it was The Simpsons: In Space! (I get the feeling it may have set itself apart after a while, though?)
― jaymc, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:45 (sixteen years ago)
spacing planet earth so far from no 1 was a bit misguided imo, but otherwise another vote of thanks for the good work
― banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:46 (sixteen years ago)
Futurama at its best is as good as the best Simpsons imo.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:46 (sixteen years ago)
i always wanted futurama to be better...then i thought it was. i've actually enjoyed family guy time-travel more and i'm not even a big family guy guy.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:47 (sixteen years ago)
after i watched this weeks mad men i had a facebook update about Kennedy getting shot and i got like 10 replies about whether i was spoilering neighbours.
Hahaha
― OK Abacus (chap), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:47 (sixteen years ago)
wow, expected to see that higher but i guess people don't like the later seasons?
Is that true? I guess I assumed it was because a lot of people haven't seen it, even though its fans are super-devoted.

well, there's SO many shows already on this list or still to come that are on cable and/or seem to have relatively small but devoted fanbases, i don't think that really says anything. plus it would only take 20 or 30 devoted fans on ILX for it to place higher, which i kind of assumed it had.
― some dude, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:48 (sixteen years ago)
Ok, we all done with the sci-fi hour? On to #23...
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:49 (sixteen years ago)
i watched a few episodes of Futurama early on and then dismissed it for years, but then marrying a big fan of the show and it being in reruns all the time has won me over, it's definitely very much its own show (waaaay more than, say, American Dad/Family Guy, although that kinda goes without saying)

― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:52 (sixteen years ago)
will type up 51-21 after the next two.
Ooh that was my #1.
For some reason I am suddenly angry at the prospect of Boosh beating Conchords.
― George Mucus (ledge), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:52 (sixteen years ago)
this is a disaster! while still being hugely entertaining
― banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:53 (sixteen years ago)
Didn't vote for it, but don't begrudge it. "Unnatural Love" ep was something else. Boosh is shit though.

FOTC loses points in my book because you cannot watch the second season on online BBC4 so I have no idea if it is still as good. Really loved the first season though, and have a guilty crush on their stalker lady.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:56 (sixteen years ago)
last season of Boosh was pretty poor, the other two had their moments
― modescalator (blueski), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 16:56 (sixteen years ago)
shit i just said season re a UK show
FOTC isn't as good second season, that's for certain.

2nd season of Conchords had its moments - parody of "Where Do You Go To My Lovely" was gold - but v v disappointed by the ending.

Season one of FotC was excellent but couldn't get past the first couple episodes of the 2nd season.

way behind the curve here, but just want to say that comparing Seinfeld to It's Always Sunny is really wrongheaded. Seinfeld is built around nothing happening, IASIP is built around EVERYTHING happening. Plus, the humor is about 100000x more edgy and envelope pushing.
also i always felt that the "all the characters are jerks" angle on seinfeld was a myth built up after the fact - plenty of people watching seinfeld at the time thought they were funny and charming. the IASIP cast are clearly fucked up from the first episode.
― PHEAR MY POORAPULT (jjjusten), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 17:00 (sixteen years ago)
it's never funny in philadelphia

2nd season of Conchords had its moments
The Keitha episode is amazing, as is anything involving Brian the Prime Minister. I'm with the consensus that the first is better though.
― OK Abacus (chap), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 17:01 (sixteen years ago)
was keitha 2nd series?
― banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 17:02 (sixteen years ago)
Yes.
― OK Abacus (chap), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 17:02 (sixteen years ago)
unironically praising it as "edgy and envelope pushing" kinda sums up why everything positive i hear about IAS makes me feel like it's not something i'd be really into
i totally agree about the retroactive jerk myth thing, though
― some dude, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 17:03 (sixteen years ago)
Forgot about that Conchords song Ledge posted. Hilarious.
― OK Abacus (chap), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 17:04 (sixteen years ago)

Ehhhh...at some point in like season 5, maybe, the Seinfeld cast started to turn pretty pointedly jerky. Like around the time of Susan's death.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 17:05 (sixteen years ago)
true...but again, that least a few seasons where the show was hugely popular and the jerky angle wasn't played up or talked about as much
― some dude, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 17:08 (sixteen years ago)
least=leaves
every character in Sunny is at reprehensible, but somehow so many seasons in it's still really amusing. their trying to be really edgy burned out after the first couple of seasons, though, now it's actually more slanted towards a south park-esque topical farce (though actually more consistently funny, somehow). the show is really amusing, what can I say! having lived in philly for several years, the show speaks amazingly true to it too

re: Seinfeld - after the finale aired, though, you could go back and watch the episodes again and you realize it totally WAS their intent all along, even during the massively popular later seasons, the characters actually become worse and worse!
― Nhex, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 17:10 (sixteen years ago)
i know thats the movie poster but i love it so.
wish thick of it was on netflix, i liked the movie
