everything from here-on in will be contrasted and found wanting, and you will all feel guilty in your black, black hearts.
― banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:34 (sixteen years ago)
I somehow missed this off my poll, so it should probably have gone higher than this. I watch a lot of Attenborough things, but this one was extra-epic, also loved the extras with the guy crashing his flying contraption into the baobabs, and the guys trapped with the polar bear etc etc.
Wikipedia tells me that Sigourney Weaver did the Attenborough voice-over for US audiences. Er, why?)
― ailsa, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:34 (sixteen years ago)
Also, WOAH SHARK BITE.
I want to watch this again now.
― ailsa, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:35 (sixteen years ago)

That bloke was a legend.
― OK Abacus (chap), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:35 (sixteen years ago)
i may re-watch it all, i think my attention span isn't as bad as it was first time around. did think: 'wow pretty, oh wait, now i'm kind of bored' everytime i watched it.

I've never seen either Earth or Blue Planet all the way through. I'm waiting to get a rockin' HD TV + Blu-Ray.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:41 (sixteen years ago)
that's a crummy reason not to give it your no 1 imo
― banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:41 (sixteen years ago)
He was great. That cameraman forced to do that at the behest of the batty inventor dude was briefly my favourite person on telly. I can't believe I must have missed and therefore deleted this on my first runthrough of the longlist.
xpost to chap

Sort of know what you mean; it's an indisputable, towering achievement and totally ravishing, but I don't actually enjoy it as much as a story about people trying to kill each other with guns or what have you.
― OK Abacus (chap), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:43 (sixteen years ago)
hardon for sb imo

omg i forgot ted mosby is a jerk. that, plus the two robin songs and the cat funeral song = more musical entertainment than jools holland could sell his soul for.

yeah as some doubtlessly have said it's got more of a cult/devoted following (which kinda makes me more surprised you havdnt heard of it, tbh!), but it's a very good show when it's on a roll and probably deerved its placement
planet earth was way too low now that i think about it, can't remember where i put it on my list. an absolute unfuckwithable classic for chillin with friends to, some type of state-altering substance is recommended but totally not necessary
― k3vin k., Wednesday, 4 November 2009 15:11 (sixteen years ago)
IASIP is on my 'to-do' list as a result of this poll, tbh.
― banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 15:13 (sixteen years ago)
i thought about it but then the first comparison made was seinfeld and now i don't seem as keen.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 15:14 (sixteen years ago)
oh shit yeah, forgot that.
― banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 15:17 (sixteen years ago)
planet earth- it's like a nature documentary, but AM I RIIGHT?
i don't really get that comparison tbh (though seinfeld is obv great and you're tripping). the humor is much different
xxp
― k3vin k., Wednesday, 4 November 2009 15:18 (sixteen years ago)
group of amoral, selfish bastard friends get into hijinx, and sometimes seemingly disparate narrative strands come together in humorous and unexpected ways.

― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 15:33 (sixteen years ago)
FX showed it for a while.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 15:35 (sixteen years ago)
Even though I've never watched it, FX starting to become my favourite channel.

wanted to do a lame immaletyoufinish on A Hoy Hoy after this low ranking Planet Earth travesty but then check and I only had it at number 19 behind stuff I don't even like that much (I don't watch a lot of TV) so I'm part of the problem tbh.
Playing catch-up with the others listed so far:
51. The Inbetweeners - yay for knob gags and teenagers who don't act like adults think teenagers act50. Breaking Bad - never seen it, looks v intersting49. State of Play - excellent, as are most things featuring John Simm, must see this again48. The Venture Bros - never really got into adult swim things but might check it out47. Da Ali G Show - such an arse end of the 90s show that it doesn't feel as if it fits in the 2000s but definitely had its moments 46. Q.I. - I'll own up to voting for this, I'm kind of a sucker for lame gags mixed with interesting facts45. Party Down - dunno, looks ok from clips44. Aqua Teen Hunger Force - see Venture Bros43. The Simpsons - didn't make my list but honourable mention/lifetime achievement and all that42. Angel - I was a fan of Buffy for a while but Angel never quite gripped me, though I'll watch the odd ep if I stumble across it channel surfing41. Gilmore Girls - one of those shows I see and hear mentioned (particularly on ILX) a lot and I have no idea what it's about. Don't think I've seen a second of it.40. Wonder Showzen - see bits and bobs of this and it's funny - I think I may have spend a hungover morning at ATP watching it (if my fellow ATPers are reading, wasn't that where "Oh I see, your racism was ironic" came from?)39. Gillette Soccer Saturday - stats and stats and idiotic pundits making arses of themselves and the legend that is Stelling. Perfect way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon.38. Black Books - lots of laughs but sort of irritating as well37. Oz - thought this was a 90s thing too. Saw wee bits of it on cable somewhere but never really got into it 36. Dexter - heard good things, keep meaning to watch it35. Friday Night Lights - nope, never heard of it34. Jackass - deserves to be on the list, probably round about here. Can't remember the last time I even thought about watching it.33. Project Runway - nope, never seen it32. Family Guy - lots of laughs but sort of irritating as well. Don't quite get why so many people rate it so highly31. House M.D. - friends keep telling me to watch this, one day I will30. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia - now I know there's a TV show called 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia'29. Planet Earth - love it - just got a big giant TV to watch it on but no blu-ray yet (Blue Planet was awes too)28. How I Met Your Mother - a show I associate with ILX as I never hear it mentioned in my day to day life but see it on here all the time. Looks funny, I'll maybe try to watch some.27. Chappelle's Show - I've seen and enjoyed some of his stand-up stuff but never seen the show.
