seinfeld getting mentioned as a 'the type of thing you shouldn't vote for' example.

antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 11:20 (sixteen years ago)

yr numbering confuses me

Was that me? I'm trying to type, while watching Seinfeld, while trying to figure out how to put the hoover back together - it's too much...

PC Thug (Ned Trifle II), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 11:29 (sixteen years ago)

Twenty minutes into Gilmore Girls - mother is v. annoying and her comic timing off a bit off. Could see me watching this though.

ailsa, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 11:45 (sixteen years ago)

has a show ever gone from fresh/interesting to unwatchably one-note as quickly as Scrubs?

scrubs was fun for a good four years before I got totally burnt out on the schtick, plenty of shows haven't made it through a season

gilmore girls would be a letdown after bad santa y/n? (never watched gg but would santa graham.)

scrubs doesn't bear repeated re-viewing, however, and is rerun at Friends-rate here in the UK, with fewer seasons to pull episodes from.

classic YMMV quandary I suppose, but while many shows don't get through a season it's usually because they're no good. Scrubs was very good indeed, but I got heartily sick of it sometime during season 2 I think and now can't tolerate it at all.

Scrubs was only fun before I noticed how much I hate Zach Braff.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 12:20 (sixteen years ago)

season 2, right?

antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 12:45 (sixteen years ago)

The same, except for me it was when I noticed I wns Elliot.

Still tolerate it tbh, if only for the "moral".

"It's not always easy to do the right thing. Like putting someone else's feelings first for a change. Even if it goes against what you really want. But even if you do the right thing, there's no guarantee it'll turn out the right way."

I mean WHO CANNOT APPLY THAT TO THEIR OWN LYFE????

scrubs was fun until they tried to make us care about the four leads when all anyone really wanted was more kelso, ted and the janitor hijinks, and sometimes maybe perry and jordan.

i don't mind braff on scrubs because i think the writers hate his character just as much as i do.

James Franco was in a telly show this decade

lol he's on TWO telly shows this decade now - he's signed on for a few episodes of General Hospital, of all things.

"For a relationship to work, it needs trust; like a wife trusting her husband even if it requires compromise, or a patient trusting his doctor to help him hold onto his dignity. It may take a lot of work, but in the end it's worth it, because things turn out for the best."

JD truthbombing all over the heezy.

harsh on dr turkleton imo, but yeah the other three can go in the furnace for all i care. in fact, using a serial killer angle to bring the janitor to the fore would be a rather awesome move.

antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 12:57 (sixteen years ago)

okay yeah turk's aite but i just consider him and carla as one package and their drama got old vv quickly

Roz, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 13:06 (sixteen years ago)

the cheesiness was always there. i think the problems came when the comedy got ridiculously broad. pretty decent finale, and a real shame they're bringing it back.

The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 13:07 (sixteen years ago)

that's right, i just half-defended scrubs.

The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 13:07 (sixteen years ago)

yeah trials of Turk/Carla was mad boring. pretty much all the girls JD slept with were stupidly hot - rivalling Joey Tribbiani in these stakes (nb i only saw the pilot of Joey).

modescalator (blueski), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 13:12 (sixteen years ago)

would gladly see scrubs back for a one-off where carla gets flayed for the full hour. worse than braff imchallopyo

antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 13:33 (sixteen years ago)

so...when are we gonna see the next entry in the list?

yup, never heard of it either.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 13:53 (sixteen years ago)

i would like to point out that that was in my predictions yesterday (although i've never really liked it or watched it much)

some dude, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 13:54 (sixteen years ago)

ok let's move on.

banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 13:55 (sixteen years ago)

haha are you even mad that a show that gets compared to seinfeld placed?

some dude, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 13:56 (sixteen years ago)

i've never heard of it, tbh, so even that tidbit of info is news to me.

banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 13:58 (sixteen years ago)

i voted IASIP having no idea if anyone else really watch it, so i guess this is a good placing. season 5 has been great so far.

sonderangerbot, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

season 5???

ok, i realise that USLXORS will be much the same way about many of the results to come so i'll be quiet now.

banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:03 (sixteen years ago)

a very american thingy right? i've heard this show mentioned a lot but fuck if i know what it's about at all.

Roz, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:05 (sixteen years ago)

i'll be really annoyed if 'Corrigan's City Farm' doesn't get a niche vote placing now.

In the UK and Ireland, Bravo broadcast the first season in early 2006, with the second season broadcast on Virgin 1 in late 2007 after a rerun of the first season.

Kind of refused to ever watch Bravo.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:08 (sixteen years ago)

I know some Britishers that are obsessed with it. It's pretty hit and miss, but Charlie at the prom with that Alphaville song playing was amazing.

The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:10 (sixteen years ago)

It's Always Sunny is kind of a cult basic cable thing even in the US, probably half the people I know if I asked them they've never heard of it either.

some dude, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:11 (sixteen years ago)

I'd never heard of IASIP until it got a great big ILX thread about it, and now I think i might like to see it (I managed to not watch it at all when it started over here). I haven't got round to it yet, and now FXUK seems to have dropped it (or was it Virgin 1?)

everything from here-on in will be contrasted and found wanting, and you will all feel guilty in your black, black hearts.

banned of bros. (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:34 (sixteen years ago)

I somehow missed this off my poll, so it should probably have gone higher than this. I watch a lot of Attenborough things, but this one was extra-epic, also loved the extras with the guy crashing his flying contraption into the baobabs, and the guys trapped with the polar bear etc etc.

Wikipedia tells me that Sigourney Weaver did the Attenborough voice-over for US audiences. Er, why?)

ailsa, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 14:34 (sixteen years ago)

Also, WOAH SHARK BITE.

I want to watch this again now.
