yeah my #1 definitely fits into that category

dylan moran standup >>>>>>>> dylan moran acting
Really? There doesn't seem to be a great deal of difference between the two, tbh.

How high will Freaks and Geeks be?

Ha. Thank you for that.
And I mean my new and correct #1, Samuel. I was less sure about its ultimate victory until I saw how the results seem to be weighed thus far. Well, I guess the results have actually been completely batshit and all over the place thus far*, so #1 could be Man Vs. Wild, for all I know.
(* I think this is a good thing. It's much more interesting this way.)
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:37 (sixteen years ago)
the bottom half of a poll's results is pretty much always guaranteed to be more batshit and all over the place than the top half

that's fair, but not too many good standup routines fit brilliantly into a laboured 30 mins of sitcom.

xp- probably because nobody's that invested in what finished in the 50-25 bracket?
re House bloopers - is Hugh Laurie actually American now?

― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:42 (sixteen years ago)
Interesting. Kind of tells me a bunch of people felt The Simpsons just deserved to be on the list, but in low rankings, more so than the others which didn't get as many votes.
― Nhex, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:43 (sixteen years ago)
i think it's useful to do after every ten anyway.
― antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:43 (sixteen years ago)
important question-
will boosh place above conchords? doubt it.
― antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:44 (sixteen years ago)
i hope not
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:44 (sixteen years ago)
though I didn't vote for conchords so I didn't help
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:45 (sixteen years ago)
yeah i think if ilx existed in 99 to do something similar, the simpsons would have won it hands down. but because there is no such poll, people feeling bad if the simpsons isn't recognised as some sort of goat shizz.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:45 (sixteen years ago)
well, in my mind i just figure Simpsons would be at or very near the top of my ballot (and many others') in a '90s poll, whether or not we ever do one, and felt no need to put it on my ballot for this one.
― et tu, omas? (some dude), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:48 (sixteen years ago)
I don't think we ever will. Maybe an ALL TIME TELLY POLL but not a 90s one. I certainly wouldn't, just because of seeing seinfeld come top would make me saaaaaaaaaaaaad. :)
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:50 (sixteen years ago)
The Simpsons would probably rank at about #3 or 4 on my '90s ballot (The Larry Sanders Show is #1 with a big-ass bullet). But the important part is that it would rank highly, and also that it would be present on my ballot at all.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:52 (sixteen years ago)
tbh I think I would struggle to even list 25 shows I considered great in the 90s - this decade, not at all a problem
― Nhex, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:54 (sixteen years ago)
i think my list would just be larry sanders, twin peaks, simpsons and a bunch of nickelodeon shows. oh and frasier/cheers/friends.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:57 (sixteen years ago)
Loadsa good britcom in the 90s.
― OK Abacus (chap), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 17:04 (sixteen years ago)
still pretty sure that my no 1 will win this.

I can state that at least 1 non-fiction show makes the top 10 and possibly wins it, possibly doesn't.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 17:11 (sixteen years ago)
Show I discovered after voting that I really like and wish I threw some points- Being Erica.

that's more or less how i felt. it's on like five times a day, hard to keep track of what's old, new, good or bad. might as well put it on there.
― sonderangerbot, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 17:28 (sixteen years ago)
xxp American Idol?
― Mordy, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 17:38 (sixteen years ago)
Simpsons got an average vote of 86 points from each voter, so people must have been putting it 16th-17th in their lists (compare it with Angel which is next on the list and had 145 votes on average). So, yeah, it must have been getting votes from people who had just run out of other stuff to vote for.
― 88, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 17:42 (sixteen years ago)
top ten predictions, anybody? sopranos & the wire for sure...maybe the office UK? but what's the non-fiction show? must be planet earth, right?
― Brio, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 17:45 (sixteen years ago)
Nah, The Soup is taking home the cup!
You're probably right about Planet Earth. I can deal with that reality show taking a top slot. You can't beat Earth.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 17:58 (sixteen years ago)
wd love it to be The Power of Nightmares, but thinking fat chance on that.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 17:58 (sixteen years ago)
no-one willing to do an actual top ten prediction then?
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:02 (sixteen years ago)
I'd take a stab if it was just Brits voting.
― OK Abacus (chap), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:04 (sixteen years ago)
Okay, I'll bite. Not necessarily in order (and not necessarily reflective of my own top 10):
UK OfficeThe WireThe SopranosDeadwoodPlanet EarthArrested Development30 RockPeep ShowLost
...and the 10th will probably be either Buffy or Six Feet Under. More likely Six Feet Under.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:06 (sixteen years ago)
I;m putting my money on Lost being #1. - I'll take your bet. The Wire has got this, right?

― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:07 (sixteen years ago)
can't see The Wire losing this if Sopranos v Wire poll is any indication.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:08 (sixteen years ago)
Hoping Mad Men will encroach on the top 10.
― OK Abacus (chap), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:08 (sixteen years ago)
I would like Lost to place pretty high, but definitely not in the top 5. Even the stans know there was a lot of awful stuff in the second and third seasons, and nobody seems to like at least 50% of the main characters.
I think Mad Men has a shot at the top 10.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:09 (sixteen years ago)
Also are 30 Rock stans plentiful or is that thread just the same 6 people going on and on.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:10 (sixteen years ago)
Good question. This whole poll is making me feel like Liz Lemon in Stone Mountain, GA. My opinions are apparently not shared with the rest of the world.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:13 (sixteen years ago)
I'm hoping that the dreck like Jackass (the sole virtue of which is that it is not CKY) and the adult swim stuff is mostly gone, and we can get down to the seriously awesome shit.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:14 (sixteen years ago)
also, is there a consensus on Skins? US TV has pwned UK TV this decade.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:15 (sixteen years ago)
The consensus on Skins is that it's pretty good.
― OK Abacus (chap), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:16 (sixteen years ago)
shows not mentioned in the last few posts that I expect to see in the top 30 and possibly the top 10: The West Wing, The Daily Show, Futurama, Chappelle's Show, How I Met Your Mother, Freaks & Geeks, Curb Your Enthusiasm possibly also Top Chef, Top Model, Veronic Mars, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The Colbert Report, Eastbound & Down, Firefly
― the tuppence takes manhattan (some dude), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:16 (sixteen years ago)

― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:17 (sixteen years ago)
oh, meant to say that too.
― the tuppence takes manhattan (some dude), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:18 (sixteen years ago)
I'm already getting the feeling that some highly worthy stuff got pushed out of the top 50 altogether. You can expect the fur to really fly once that list is posted.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 18:18 (sixteen years ago)
I think Damages could pop up too.
Curb is another that I don't watch and had forgotten about and that will probably rate highly, yes.
