still 32 shows to go d.

32. Family Guy (15 votes, 1735 points.)http://style.popcrunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/family-guy-cast-poster-c11790610.jpghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydVp-2B8qlw

I guess the ranking for Oz and Dexter is about right. They both do what they're supposed to do and they're both a bit groundbreaking in their own way, but at the end of the day they're just pretty good soap operas geared more towards the testosterone set.
Deric OTM

yeah i mean...this list is definitely going to be dominated by scripted shows, especially compared to how much reality programming dominated TV ratings throughout the decade
― et tu, omas? (some dude), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 15:59 (sixteen years ago)
I;m putting my money on Lost being #1.
― we are normal and we want our freedom (Abbott), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 15:59 (sixteen years ago)
family guy is again placed about right where i expected, but project runway is my first real wtf so far.
WTF people.
― antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:04 (sixteen years ago)
Oh, Family Guy is a better show than Gilmore Girls? That explains why everyone at work suddenly has a goatee today.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:05 (sixteen years ago)
as in it should have been higher? xpost
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:06 (sixteen years ago)
tons of people like Project Runway, many of them on this board (I can take it or leave it personally, but I'm not surprised at all to see it here)
― et tu, omas? (some dude), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:06 (sixteen years ago)
Project Runway is one of the only reality shows I'll rep for, even though I haven't watched it much. Basically, I can get behind a show featuring people with talent trying to outdo one another rather than a bunch of unemployable douchebags trying to outdouche one another.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:07 (sixteen years ago)
I prefer Top Chef to Project Runway, but I'm guessing it won't place. As far as other reality shows, I hope (the UK) Big Brother places. Series 5 NEVA 4GET! How much play does the Amazing Race get on ILX?
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:08 (sixteen years ago)
I'm beginning to realize that not everyone is as enamoured with scripted comedy and long-form narrative as I am.
My disdain for scripted comedy around here is legendary in my own head.
― cough syrup in coke cans (Eric H.), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:09 (sixteen years ago)
Given the vocal ILX following, I imagine Top Chef will do better than Runway. Also Top Chef is riding on its best season in years right now.
― Brio, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:10 (sixteen years ago)
my predictions for reality shows in the nominations thread were American Idol, Survivor, Big Brother, Jackass and Top Model -- totally forgot about Project Runway or i woulda said that too
― et tu, omas? (some dude), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:11 (sixteen years ago)
not so sure about Survivor now, though, and even though lots of people here watch Idol I'm not sure how many of them would vote for it as excellent television (though i did)
― et tu, omas? (some dude), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:12 (sixteen years ago)
Jackass always a mixed bag - loved the stunts and pranks on other members of the team, hated the 'duping strangers' stuff mostly.
― modescalator (blueski), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:12 (sixteen years ago)
ok, the last for today...
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:14 (sixteen years ago)
Is Britishers voting for GSS the equivalent of Americans voting for, say, Monday Night Football on ESPN? Cause that's just lame.

Housey looking so earnest there.
― we are normal and we want our freedom (Abbott), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:16 (sixteen years ago)
GSS is way more than just a sports show. It's having people who no longer have proper brain function and thus are hilarious be on the telly all saturday covering the thing we love. It is as wildly unpredictable and lovable as the game itself (ok maybe that is overselling it.)
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:17 (sixteen years ago)
1) Stelling2) lots of numbers and stats on screen updating live
everything else about it sucks tbh but those two reasons are more than enough justification
― modescalator (blueski), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:19 (sixteen years ago)
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), 03 November 2009 16:06
emphatically not.
GSS is essentially an improv comedy show starring senile/alcohol addled soccer clebrities
― antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:20 (sixteen years ago)
Ok, the top 30:
Only 2 more shows with less than 2000points.Only 12 more without at least a #1 vote.Only 10 more who got less than 20 votes.
Anyone wanna make predictions?
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:21 (sixteen years ago)
lots of rubbish i didn't vote for rhubarb rhubarb etc.
it's going swimmingly so far, with the observation that i thought there'd be more interaction on the thread.
can i suggest spacing them out on an hourly basis? maybe it's just me being at work but it seems like two or three get posted at once and some aren't getting the consideration deserved (ie family guy is hilarious, you jerks)
― antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:24 (sixteen years ago)
So...only three of my nominees represented thus far, and none in this last batch of ten. I'm a little surprised that 22 of my picks are gonna end up in the top 30, but I guess I must just have good taste, eh? Eh?
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:24 (sixteen years ago)
still pretty sure that my no 1 will win this.
― antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:25 (sixteen years ago)
(Let me just go ahead and predict and say that it's an absolute travesty that Tim And Eric Awesome Show Great Job! isn't going to make the top 50. Bleh.)
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:26 (sixteen years ago)
Pretty sure that my number 1 will win or at least end up in the top 3.
Gilmore Girls finished way too low. I love it with an almost familial love.

Yeah, I didn't vote for it, even though I probably should've. I think it was because I only watched it sporadically.
― jaymc, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:27 (sixteen years ago)
was there a lifespan period for when the shows had to be on the air?
― bnw, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:29 (sixteen years ago)
I'll try to space it out more tomorrow.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:29 (sixteen years ago)
was morbs allowed to vote for gunsmoke?
― bnw, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:30 (sixteen years ago)
Were any new episodes of Roobarb and Custard broadcast in the '00s?
― Michael Jones, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:30 (sixteen years ago)
Deric- remember you changed your #1 so which show do you mean? Or are you just being coy?
bnw- umm, at least an episode had to be originally broadcast during the decade, if thats what you mean.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:31 (sixteen years ago)
oh ok
― bnw, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:31 (sixteen years ago)
Black Books is perhaps Dylan Moran's finest hour.
Nah, that was How Do You Want Me? - which won't be featuring in these results.
― DavidM, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:32 (sixteen years ago)
samuel, that's a piddling complaint- sterling work on putting this together, and i hope the warm glow of achievement you feel will make up for the crushing disappointment of jack wilshere's move to wigan in the coming years.
― antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:32 (sixteen years ago)
dylan moran standup >>>>>>>> dylan moran acting

I think the only requirement was any first run episodes at all airing at some point from 2000 to 2009. There are a few miniseries, quickly cancelled and/or really recent shows with just a handful of episodes that I think will do well or already have placed.
― et tu, omas? (some dude), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:33 (sixteen years ago)
yeah my #1 definitely fits into that category
― Nhex, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:34 (sixteen years ago)
Really? There doesn't seem to be a great deal of difference between the two, tbh.
― DavidM, Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:35 (sixteen years ago)

Ha. Thank you for that.
And I mean my new and correct #1, Samuel. I was less sure about its ultimate victory until I saw how the results seem to be weighed thus far. Well, I guess the results have actually been completely batshit and all over the place thus far*, so #1 could be Man Vs. Wild, for all I know.
(* I think this is a good thing. It's much more interesting this way.)
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:37 (sixteen years ago)
the bottom half of a poll's results is pretty much always guaranteed to be more batshit and all over the place than the top half

that's fair, but not too many good standup routines fit brilliantly into a laboured 30 mins of sitcom.
― antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Tuesday, 3 November 2009 16:39 (sixteen years ago)
xp- probably because nobody's that invested in what finished in the 50-25 bracket?
re House bloopers - is Hugh Laurie actually American now?
