Yeah, there was an episode of Angel with evil puppets. It was ridiculously great.

btw my #1 vote for the Venture Brothers was not strategic, I really do think its the best show of the decade

i find it admirable that the show is far more concerned with the characters' reactions to or emotions resulting from significant events and how they affects pre-existing relationships more than the events themselves. think about lorelai and max splitting up & rory and jess getting into a car accident, which i'd say are the two most important events of the show (as far as i am, which is near the end of S2). neither of these events are actually shown to us on screen! depicting these would not only be superfluous but run the risk of being insipid - the way lorelai reacts to ending her engagement with max, or the way jess' crash and subsequent town-wide vilification makes rory re-evaluate her feelings for him and relationship with dean is far more interesting to me.

this is great. i'm gonna use this thread as my 'stuff to watch' list for the next few months, as i'm not up to speed on hardly any of it. angel can fuck right off tho.

Kev hitting the nail on the head there. But also, it is wickedly funny and I found myself caring for the characters even more than any show this decade. Only the kids in the Wire came close.

Gilmore Girls is the sort of show that I would only watch if a girl made me watch it, but I would secretly enjoy more than she did.

Gilmore Girls looks bloody awful from that clip.

Ha. I recommended it to a bunch of friends only to be called an emofagwhatever. And then like 6 months later a bunch came back to me gushing about how much they love gilmore girls.

Well, that clip was just because ilx likes yo la tengo and sonic youth.

For what it's worth, I've hooked almost as many Doubting Thomases on Gilmore Girls as I have on Buffy. And I was once a hardcore Doubter towards both. And now they're both among my top five shows of the decade. So there you go.

I voted for Gilmore Girls, but don't particularly like anything else so far except State of Play. Really don't get the love for Wonder Showzen, which from the disc I watched seemed to be children's programming designed to make kids stupid.

Wonder Showzen was my #21! I really did push it down the list. Though, have to say, no other programme has had me on the floor laughing than WS these past ten long years.

Wonder Showzen was delightfully demented, and sometimes outright offensive.

I have tried to watch Xavier, but that shit damn near broke my brain. I gather that it's not all that similar to Wonder Showzen, though.

Angel was hit or miss, but it had one of the best series finales I can think of. Maybe the best.

Gilmore Girls, I always wanted to like, but never quite did.

I know we're not there yet but can I just say I hope Friday Night Lights does respectably in this thing - in a non-anonymous environment I might say I love other cooler stuff more but I'd be lying. I don't know if even The Wire gives as complete a picture of a community as FNL does for Dillon, Texas. Crucifictorious! Riggins Rigs! The Landing Strip! The "Who's your Buddy?" TV ads! The Alamo Freeze!
