Puppets? clearly i have no idea what Angel is about.

41. Gilmore Girls (7 votes, 2 1st place votes, 1310 points.)http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/686/gilmoregirls2yh7.jpghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYBupWeVbew

Gilmore Girls was my #1 btw.
Yeah, there was an episode of Angel with evil puppets. It was ridiculously great.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 19:57 (sixteen years ago)
btw my #1 vote for the Venture Brothers was not strategic, I really do think its the best show of the decade
― PHEAR MY POORAPULT (jjjusten), Monday, 2 November 2009 19:59 (sixteen years ago)
If Gilmore Girls places, can you use this post as a blurb?
i find it admirable that the show is far more concerned with the characters' reactions to or emotions resulting from significant events and how they affects pre-existing relationships more than the events themselves. think about lorelai and max splitting up & rory and jess getting into a car accident, which i'd say are the two most important events of the show (as far as i am, which is near the end of S2). neither of these events are actually shown to us on screen! depicting these would not only be superfluous but run the risk of being insipid - the way lorelai reacts to ending her engagement with max, or the way jess' crash and subsequent town-wide vilification makes rory re-evaluate her feelings for him and relationship with dean is far more interesting to me.

this is great. i'm gonna use this thread as my 'stuff to watch' list for the next few months, as i'm not up to speed on hardly any of it. angel can fuck right off tho.
― antastic mr ox (darraghmac), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:02 (sixteen years ago)
Kev hitting the nail on the head there. But also, it is wickedly funny and I found myself caring for the characters even more than any show this decade. Only the kids in the Wire came close.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:04 (sixteen years ago)
Gilmore Girls is the sort of show that I would only watch if a girl made me watch it, but I would secretly enjoy more than she did.
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:05 (sixteen years ago)
Gilmore Girls looks bloody awful from that clip.
― DavidM, Monday, 2 November 2009 20:07 (sixteen years ago)
Ha. I recommended it to a bunch of friends only to be called an emofagwhatever. And then like 6 months later a bunch came back to me gushing about how much they love gilmore girls.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:08 (sixteen years ago)
Well, that clip was just because ilx likes yo la tengo and sonic youth.
And so on to my last reveal of the day...
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:09 (sixteen years ago)
Oh wait, I said I was only going to be doing 51-41 today. You guys can wait.
Gilmore Girls finished way too low. I love it with an almost familial love.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:10 (sixteen years ago)
haha damn i noticed your mistake but wasn't gonna say anything :)
― retrunofthaghmac (some dude), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:11 (sixteen years ago)
And that clip is totally unrepresentative about what makes GG great. The stock goofy townspeople are my least favorite aspect of the show.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:11 (sixteen years ago)
Btw...
Only 6 shows didn't place and got a #1 vote.Only 2 more shows have under 10 votes.58 shows broke 1000 points.Only 2 shows outside of the top 51 get 10 or more votes.26 shows didn't get 1 vote.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:15 (sixteen years ago)
Eh fuck it, i'll do 1 more tonight.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:16 (sixteen years ago)
Inbetweeners and State of Play at the bottom though...I get a feeling that this is going to be one of those poll result lists that make more sense when turned on their head.
― DavidM, Monday, 2 November 2009 20:16 (sixteen years ago)
For what it's worth, I've hooked almost as many Doubting Thomases on Gilmore Girls as I have on Buffy. And I was once a hardcore Doubter towards both. And now they're both among my top five shows of the decade. So there you go.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:18 (sixteen years ago)
40. Wonder Showzen (11 votes, 1 first place vote, 1350 points.)http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7SWGAMKfTmg/SgoxAbGXtlI/AAAAAAAAAHs/qGG2JeVDIds/s320/245px-wonder_showzen.gifhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLwPXMedIaI
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:18 (sixteen years ago)
I have to say I unashamedly love #39, but you are gonna have to wait until tomorrow to SB me for it.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:19 (sixteen years ago)
Fuck knows what Wonder Showzen is. Youtube-ing it for the purposes of the poll didn't make me any wiser to what the fuck it is either.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:20 (sixteen years ago)
OK, so that and ATHF finishing ahead of Venture Bros...yeah, there's the bile, I can feel it coming up.
― retrunofthaghmac (some dude), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:20 (sixteen years ago)
One 1st place vote for Wonder Showzen. I had a feeling that was me for a second, but I knocked it right down the list in the end. I think. Can't remember.
― DavidM, Monday, 2 November 2009 20:23 (sixteen years ago)
I've never actually watched Wonder Showzen, but it never really seemed like my cup of tea. Isn't it just a "dark" and therefore "hilarious" take on children's programming?
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:24 (sixteen years ago)
(There will be fights on this thread. I can feel it already.)
Your name isn't Mike, so no it wasn't you.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:26 (sixteen years ago)
xpost to David. I can send you your ballot back if you like.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:27 (sixteen years ago)
xpostsNo, it has a lot of jokes. And it's not self-conscious about its darkness, thank god.
― Jouster, Monday, 2 November 2009 20:27 (sixteen years ago)
Wait, I didn't notice 1 show. 7 shows got #1 votes and didn't place. It didn't change the results, I just skimmed over it when I was looking a minute ago.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:29 (sixteen years ago)
I voted for Gilmore Girls, but don't particularly like anything else so far except State of Play. Really don't get the love for Wonder Showzen, which from the disc I watched seemed to be children's programming designed to make kids stupid.

― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, November 2, 2009 3:20 PM
i think mtv keeps clips off youtube or something but it can be torrented easily
― luol deng (am0n), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:31 (sixteen years ago)
Hey, Jouster...are you the Jouster from the AST board? Just curious.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:32 (sixteen years ago)
thats a mtv show? for some absurd reason, i thought they had a bit of quality control. or maybe I should stop thinking of them as the network who once made Daria.
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:33 (sixteen years ago)
gilmore girls was my number 2.
― scott seward, Monday, 2 November 2009 20:34 (sixteen years ago)
wonder showzen was my number 17.
― scott seward, Monday, 2 November 2009 20:35 (sixteen years ago)
full wonder showzen eps here: http://www.mtv.com/shows/wonder_showzen/series.jhtml
― luol deng (am0n), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:36 (sixteen years ago)
wonder showzen was a hoot.
― scott seward, Monday, 2 November 2009 20:37 (sixteen years ago)
Wonder Showzen was my #21! I really did push it down the list. Though, have to say, no other programme has had me on the floor laughing than WS these past ten long years.
― DavidM, Monday, 2 November 2009 20:38 (sixteen years ago)
Wonder Showzen was delightfully demented, and sometimes outright offensive.
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:39 (sixteen years ago)
I have tried to watch Xavier, but that shit damn near broke my brain. I gather that it's not all that similar to Wonder Showzen, though.
― I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:42 (sixteen years ago)
Angel was hit or miss, but it had one of the best series finales I can think of. Maybe the best.
Gilmore Girls, I always wanted to like, but never quite did.
― smashing aspirant (milo z), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:43 (sixteen years ago)
I know we're not there yet but can I just say I hope Friday Night Lights does respectably in this thing - in a non-anonymous environment I might say I love other cooler stuff more but I'd be lying. I don't know if even The Wire gives as complete a picture of a community as FNL does for Dillon, Texas. Crucifictorious! Riggins Rigs! The Landing Strip! The "Who's your Buddy?" TV ads! The Alamo Freeze!
― Brio, Monday, 2 November 2009 20:54 (sixteen years ago)
Well, did you vote for it?
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:57 (sixteen years ago)
I would have but didn't see this until today - just a spectator on this one.
― Brio, Monday, 2 November 2009 20:58 (sixteen years ago)
wonder showzen was maybe my favourite show ever
― plaks (I know, right?), Monday, 2 November 2009 20:59 (sixteen years ago)
just fyi
well lets just hope more people like a show about white kids playing a stupid sport. because no-one voted for One Tree Hill
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 November 2009 21:01 (sixteen years ago)
one tree hill is a pile of ass imo
