don't be dense, all i meant is that i'd like for 30 Rock to make fun of him without actually having him there to be a part of it and be all humble and pretending to make fun of himself

i had never even heard of this dude before this episode... i figured it was just a riff on ventriloquists in general! but isnt it like, funnier if its the actual guy?

dunham is a v rich & famous comedian whose comedy solely involves praying on his audiences' fear of gays, other races, middle easterners and other foreigners - he's awful & while it was funny to see 30 rock poking fun at him, ship is right that it was kind of lame that he was able to wink wink along with us - he has a new show on comedy central btw

oh ok, i thought he was just a bad comedian! i get it now.

so i guess putting him on 30 rock was a real-life jack donaghy-style move haha

i was thinking that the only reason the cerie character is on the show is b/c nbc didn't believe liz or jenna would qualify as "actual conventionally attractive women that men would O_O over" to the stone mountain, georgia demographic, and you can't have a show without that.

i mean jane krakowski is definitely attractive but in a comedic "miss piggy" way.

yeah i think certainly part of her existence is kinda to poke fun at the convention of having a hot girl for dudes to swoon over. i def think she has a role though, and is a good character

also, i'm curious what the overlap is between 30 rock writers and simpsons writers. both shows have that whiff of "harvard comedy writing" pratitude.

I suspect that's the case. If I remember correctly, Jenna was going to be played by Rachel Dratch until the network replaced her at the last minute.

yeah hard to believe now that the whole show was gonna be about rachel dratch. i felt bad about her first season every episode cameo.
