oh south park, you and your lazy racism

Nhex, Thursday, 29 October 2009 16:35 (sixteen years ago)

hey sp dudes, devoting 2 of your 3 new episodes to skewering other cable shows is LAZY

PHEAR MY POORAPULT (jjjusten), Thursday, 29 October 2009 16:38 (sixteen years ago)

seriously - i'd never even heard of Whale Wars before last night

Nhex, Thursday, 29 October 2009 16:39 (sixteen years ago)

stopped watching the latest episode after 5 minutes. their "topical" episodes are the worst and I don't really enjoy their asian racism schtick or their "liberals are asshats" schtick

Jesus, the Czar of Czars (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 29 October 2009 16:52 (sixteen years ago)

seriously where is their balloon boy episode, that one just writes itself (Randy builds balloon, Butters sneaks into it, balloon flies away hilarity ensues)

Jesus, the Czar of Czars (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 29 October 2009 16:53 (sixteen years ago)

I used to watch it with Amber back in the day. She was 8 months, and loved the kids antics, and didn't understand the sweary bits. And mum was on nightshift...

Anyways, the kids got older and I saw one ep that was damn brilliant (it involved bath-houses and cute kids that had their own TV shows, etc), and realised "we" couln't watch this anymore.

I kinda sensed it would be downhill after that one anyway.

not that i didn't agree with the target, but c'mon, Beck is so EZ. actually for SP this is kind of late to the game considering the other Beck parodies going around lately

avatar joke was pretty good, i gotta admit, though

Nhex, Thursday, 12 November 2009 06:17 (sixteen years ago)

Right around when I saw "Butters Bottom Bitch" I started getting the feeling that this current run of episodes was written and produced over the summer, instead of the "one episode produced per week" thing, which is why current events (ie balloon boy) haven't been lampooned, and why wider topics are being discussed instead.

billstevejim, Thursday, 12 November 2009 14:16 (sixteen years ago)

discussed?

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Thursday, 12 November 2009 14:29 (sixteen years ago)

lampooned

billstevejim, Thursday, 12 November 2009 14:46 (sixteen years ago)

I didn't expect last night's episode to be up and streaming already.. I guess they put them on the south park studios website on the following morning.

But yeah, how do they know Avatar is a ripoff of Dances With Wolves? It doesn't come out for another month.

billstevejim, Thursday, 12 November 2009 14:50 (sixteen years ago)

rather apparent from the trailer tbh

fel (latebloomer), Thursday, 12 November 2009 15:28 (sixteen years ago)

beck is an easy target, but such a natural for cartman. and i liked that beck fans = butters.

hellzapoppa (tipsy mothra), Thursday, 12 November 2009 16:52 (sixteen years ago)

Does anyone know the name of the song playing when Randy and the guys with swollen balls are bouncing around town?

It's fucking amazing.

choom raider (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 5 April 2010 17:23 (sixteen years ago)

last two episodes have been on some classic dumb-out shit that i'm totally loving. dudes even skipped the opportunity to wahhh libertarian whine about KFC and just made a dumb goofy episode about it.

choom raider (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 5 April 2010 17:25 (sixteen years ago)

libertarians are against KFC?

kulinary gangsta (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 5 April 2010 17:29 (sixteen years ago)

libertarians would be against the idea that there should be a law that keeps KFCs from opening in low-income areas

choom raider (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 5 April 2010 17:33 (sixteen years ago)

episode really made me want some kfc tbh

choom raider (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 5 April 2010 17:34 (sixteen years ago)

would give kinda an unfair advantage to Popeye's wouldn't it

kulinary gangsta (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 5 April 2010 17:35 (sixteen years ago)

I do like that they deliberately went with one of their weirder episodes. I get the feeling that they brought back officer barbrady & jimbo & ned just for the early-seasons vibe.

requiem for crunk (kingfish), Monday, 5 April 2010 19:25 (sixteen years ago)

HA.

I hate Facebook probably more than most, but this was a little weak and incredibly late for them. the Chatroulette thing was kind of obvious too... and the Tron thing, Family Guy's 10-second bit on it was probably funnier.

though this was funny from an interview tho:

I asked the men which celebrity had the craziest reaction out of any they mocked.

"Well the craziest was probably Kanye last year. We thought we would be more like 'Holy shit should I get a body guard? Should I get a gun?' and instead the next day he wrote in all caps 'YEAH YOU GUYS ARE RIGHT. I'M SORRY,'" Matt said in wonder.

"We were like 'Dude, what?' and for the first time it made us feel bad. If Sean Penn is like, 'Hey what do they think they're doing,'" Trey said in a voice halfway between Cartman and Penn, "We're just like, 'Hey dude, fuck you.' But for someone to actually say, 'Yeah it really hurt my feelings and I really should look at myself,' it's kind of like punching the kid and then he just sits there and cries."

Nhex, Thursday, 8 April 2010 06:38 (sixteen years ago)

that song is fucking awesome

wilter, Friday, 9 April 2010 07:51 (sixteen years ago)

hmm

wilter, Friday, 9 April 2010 09:55 (sixteen years ago)

Facebook episode is like "why i'm not on facebook 101." I kind of loved it.

fuckin' raggett... how does that work? (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 9 April 2010 13:13 (sixteen years ago)

did you like the tron bits?

wilter, Friday, 9 April 2010 13:14 (sixteen years ago)

i liked about 50% of the Tron bits, esp the Yahtzee parts

fuckin' raggett... how does that work? (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 9 April 2010 13:15 (sixteen years ago)

arent you famous for twittering

billion holla baby (roxymuzak), Thursday, 22 April 2010 23:01 (sixteen years ago)

Facebook episode is like "why i'm not on facebook 101."

yeah my wife and I were totally feelin this too tbh

Tron jokes are always funny.

Except for when they're on Family Guy, which is never funny, ever.

this has been a good series

plax (ico), Monday, 3 May 2010 19:02 (sixteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

this whole recent thing about the image of Muhammad got me thinking - if there's no images of him, no one knows what he really looked like, there's no conventional historical archetype of what Muhammad looked like. so, basically there's no way to tell what is or isn't an image of Muhammad unless it's explicitly captioned as such. So, if I draw a picture of a tomato and call it the Prophet Muhammad, is that a violation of the Koran?

iirc there is a koran verse that deals with this issue, let me look for it

iatee, Wednesday, 19 May 2010 18:50 (sixteen years ago)

yeah here it is:

K 3:140 If a wound has afflicted you (at [the Battle of] Uhud), a wound like it has also afflicted the (unbelieving) people; and We bring these days to men by turns, and that Allah may know those who believe and take witnesses from among you...PS Muhammad is not a tomato

iatee, Wednesday, 19 May 2010 18:51 (sixteen years ago)

whew problem solved

Here is a tasty coconut. Sorry for my earlier harshness. (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 19 May 2010 18:51 (sixteen years ago)

iirc there's a bit in the koran were it describes mohammed, it says: "He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow."
