i just finished grading one set of exams and i have some news for you.
guys, just so you know these are the other ways that you can spell "Ecuadorean" (which is the NYT's preferred spelling)
* ecuadoreas
* ecuatidians
* equatos

La Lechera, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

KitCat, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:41 (eighteen years ago)

KitCat, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:41 (eighteen years ago)

I'm reading Benjamin Kunkel's Indecision, and the narrator (who, to be fair, isn't so sharp when it comes to the world around him) calls them "Ecuadoris."

jaymc, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

hahahaha oh god

La Lechera, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

dan m, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:43 (eighteen years ago)

Also, FYI
The ancient pyramids of the Aztecs were made 100 years ago.

La Lechera, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:49 (eighteen years ago)

NO. Wait, really? Can't be.

Laurel, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

so THAT'S who built the pyramids!

chicago kevin, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:54 (eighteen years ago)

dan m, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:55 (eighteen years ago)

someone explain this crossword clue: big foot? = EEE

is that a european shoe size or something?

Jordan, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)

width?
or maybe it's like OMG BIGFOOT EEEEEEEEEEEE

La Lechera, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:59 (eighteen years ago)

EEE indicates width in a shoe size. It also shows up in a lot of crosswords.

jaymc, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:59 (eighteen years ago)

Tausig's puzzle this week was the easiest of his I've ever done: I did it on the way home the other night, and I was done before I got to Fullerton.

jaymc, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, i agree, super easy (both the inkwell one and the one in the Onion)

Jordan, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:02 (eighteen years ago)

i like doing easy crosswords though :>

Jordan, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:02 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I meant the Inkwell one. Haven't done the Onion one yet.

jaymc, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

Jesse, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)

Jordan, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

La Lechera, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

n/a, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:18 (eighteen years ago)

La Lechera, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:28 (eighteen years ago)

i'm sick just in time for the weekend! yay me!!

chicago kevin, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:29 (eighteen years ago)

equato sounds like one of those made-up fruits where they force two fruits to have sex to one another. like ... a cantelope and ... a tangerine ... and a ... blueberry. a menage a trois de fruits.

n/a, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:30 (eighteen years ago)

Mel Gibson's Equato

Jordan, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:32 (eighteen years ago)

OH MY FUCKING GOD YOU KNOW WHAT I LOVE MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WHOLE FUCKING WORLD? GIVING REMEDIAL COMPUTER LESSONS TO 50 YEAR OLD WOMEN. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY DON'T ACTUALLY WANT HELP, THEY WANT ME TO GIVE UP AND DO IT FOR THEM. GOD I LOVE THAT. I LOVE THAT SO MUCH.

HOW DO YOU BROWSE FILES? HOW DO YOU BROWSE FILES? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

kenan, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:39 (eighteen years ago)

It's entirely possible that I have had too much coffee.

kenan, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:39 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to be doing crosswords alone forever.

Laurel, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:41 (eighteen years ago)

Pluots are so delicious.

Eazy, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:42 (eighteen years ago)

I prefer doing crosswords alone, too.

jaymc, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)

But that's largely because I like the sense of pride and accomplishment, where I can be like I DID THAT ALL BY MYSELF.

jaymc, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:47 (eighteen years ago)

Wamu's hold music sounds like the intro for "Like a Virgin"

Jesse, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:49 (eighteen years ago)

before i moved in with jen our sunday morning ritual was doing the online crossword in the irish times, euro spellings fucked us every time.

chicago kevin, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:50 (eighteen years ago)

i have an as yet unfulfilled fantasy about sunday morning in bed, including a lady, coffee, and crosswords. maybe waffles.

Jordan, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:21 (eighteen years ago)

my left eye has been twitching uncontrollably for the last few days, wtf

Jordan, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, what does "FTW" stand for?

Jesse, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

for the win

Jordan, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)
