Today I will go to the Lemon Ice King of Corona, and also possibly tomorrow.

Virginia Plain, Saturday, 23 August 2008 18:00 (seventeen years ago)

Liked Robin Du Bois. Not the best country french food I ever had but good, reasonably priced and awesome back garden.

Hurting 2, Saturday, 23 August 2008 18:48 (seventeen years ago)

Sandwich from lamazou today - awesome!

bell_labs, Saturday, 23 August 2008 20:15 (seventeen years ago)

so i tried the famous halal chicken & rice cart on friday, the one @ 53rd & 6th in manhattan, now operating during the day too. gotta admit it was tasty. next time I'll get a little more hot sauce and a lot less white sauce. but i'll be back in the area next friday. oh and a total bargain for $5, almost more than I could finish.

yeah no problem. I forgot to mention the "pork jowl nuggets" appetizer, basically deep-fried blobs of gristle .... maybe I shoulda figured that going in, but damn they were gross. I love pork belly and stuff but this was over the line

dmr, Monday, 25 August 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

that one could be a matter of taste, though. the lobster roll was just a ripoff.

dmr, Monday, 25 August 2008 20:58 (seventeen years ago)

That cart's not Kwik Meal, right? That's 46th and 6th, and it's great. Though lately I've been going to Sammy's Halal in Jackson Heights all too often.

dan selzer, Monday, 25 August 2008 21:30 (seventeen years ago)

robin des bois isn't that great. i find everything to be a bit DRY there... Tabac is better if you don't mind the crowd. also, try chestnut.

mass xp

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Monday, 25 August 2008 22:26 (seventeen years ago)

Surmounter, Monday, 25 August 2008 22:36 (seventeen years ago)

max, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:18 (seventeen years ago)

lauren, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:20 (seventeen years ago)

cheapish ($15 an entree?), otherwise whatever

max, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:21 (seventeen years ago)

i tried new york burger company last night, which was pretty tasty but not mindblowing. i am 99% sure larry david was there.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:24 (seventeen years ago)

i like the canteloupe and peach at benfaremo

gabbneb, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:32 (seventeen years ago)

a burger with larry david sounds just right today

Surmounter, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:32 (seventeen years ago)

hmm... i haven't tried via emilia (on 21st), but it has a good reputation: http://www.viaemilianyc.net/index2.html

for a japanese interpretation of italian, there's basta pasta (http://www.bastapastanyc.com/). i've been wanting to try it.

petite abeille (http://www.petiteabeille.com/index_flash.html) has a branch on 20th st, if you like moules frites.

lauren, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:43 (seventeen years ago)

max you might want to try chat n chew? whatever you do, stay away from coffee shop.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:44 (seventeen years ago)

lol i went to coffee shop once.......... thats why i get to choose the restaurant tonight

max, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:45 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, coffee shop is gross.

lauren, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:46 (seventeen years ago)

petite abeille <3 <3 <3 i think wednesday might be all you can eat mussels night?

tehresa, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)

not that it is possible to eat more than 1 entree sized portion of them... good racket though! you get a free stella.

tehresa, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)

If by some unhappy and unlikely chain of events you happen to be walking down Court St. in BoCoCa and actually think you might want to try a Tex Mex place called Lobo (which I doubt you would anyway), do not do so. It sucks.

(My unhappy chain of events involved my aunt showing up without warning AND extremely hungry at my new place where I don't yet know the neighborhood restaurants)

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 16:35 (seventeen years ago)

Wanna bet?

ian, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 16:44 (seventeen years ago)

is this BoCoCa label really sticking, then? oy.

haha ian, with you, i do not doubt it.

tehresa, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 16:45 (seventeen years ago)

one of my BFFs went to Ramen Setagaya last night and said that there's been a change of ownership and the quality has gone WAYYYYYYYYYYY downhill since our last visit.

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 16:47 (seventeen years ago)

that's what i've been hearing. BOO to that.

lauren, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 16:51 (seventeen years ago)

i still never made it to lobster night at p.a.

tehresa, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 16:52 (seventeen years ago)

Lobo is terrible. Used to be Harvest. Which also wasn't great. But was pretty good in the early days of BOCOCA. Good meatloaf. Good brunch. Trend brunch. It was the only brunch place actually.

I'm more excited/confused about this. A new fast food rest. opening up in my hood called Jollibee. Philippino fast food. But no spam. Just some really disgusting looking stuff. Check out the menu.

Surmounter, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

bell_labs, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 17:47 (seventeen years ago)

lauren, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

i repeat: YAY!

lauren, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

oohhh. Jollibee. I would try their burgers, but wtf @ the noodle dishes.

ian, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

do they serve everything w/ banana ketchup?

tehresa, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 17:56 (seventeen years ago)

^^^those words shouldn't be used together

mookieproof, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 17:59 (seventeen years ago)

max I kinda like this Mexican place at 17th and Irving. not mindblowing or anything but I've gone there a few times before hitting a show at Irving Plaza

dmr, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 17:59 (seventeen years ago)

I also feel like I should suggest Yama but it's probably over the price range you wanted and might be a long ass wait for five people

dmr, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 18:02 (seventeen years ago)

the time i tried to go, yama was a long-ass wait for one person. i gave up after 30 minutes.

lauren, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 18:05 (seventeen years ago)

vanessa's dumpling house is yummy, cheap and pretty quick but not like, a "nice" place to eat or anything.

ian, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 18:15 (seventeen years ago)

you could try Ippudo on 4th ave and 10th street, but there will probably be a wait.

ian, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 18:16 (seventeen years ago)

parents in town! i'm thinking Dressler cuz i've been wanting to go.

Surmounter, Friday, 29 August 2008 14:27 (seventeen years ago)

I ate at Monkeytown last night. I really like the food at that place.

Surmounter, Friday, 29 August 2008 14:35 (seventeen years ago)

oh i missed a lot of these suggestions--we just went to chat n chew, it was nice and not too pricey. i didnt finish my mac and cheese.

max, Friday, 29 August 2008 14:36 (seventeen years ago)

I have heard that Joya is good for Thai (it's on Court St. in what I guess is Cobble Hill - sorry for using "BoCoCa" earlier, I just really don't know the boundaries yet)

Hurting 2, Friday, 29 August 2008 14:47 (seventeen years ago)

i go to their sister restaurant all the time, Song (in the slope). it's like my favorite restaurant.

RIDICULOUSLY cheap.

Surmounter, Friday, 29 August 2008 14:48 (seventeen years ago)

Surmounter, Friday, 29 August 2008 15:40 (seventeen years ago)
