Come to Croydon! We have Nando's!

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

Also - All Bar One! Yates'! Tiger Tiger! Noodle Time (No Need To Book, Plenty Of Room)!

Croydon - It Is Great, Plus I Only Need To Take One Bus To Get There!

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

i like Croydon - trams, Doughmasters, clock tower cinema, j0e lives there...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

I could fancy a Nando's, actually...

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think Melissa would like The Hippodrome. After an England game.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

Teh Pakenham Arms is Radiohead favourite pub in London.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:22 (twenty-one years ago) link

And quite near Russel Sq eh? I think a nice ISLINGTON beer would be good! Where is Melissa staying though?

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:44 (twenty-one years ago) link

Teh Pakenham Arms is Radiohead favourite pub in London.

This has so many potentially amusing connotations that I don't know where to start...

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:46 (twenty-one years ago) link

The Pakenham arms is full of lairy posties, if you mean the one near Mount Pleasant.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:51 (twenty-one years ago) link

The Pakenham Arms looks a bit of alright, actually

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:54 (twenty-one years ago) link

Phwoar!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:55 (twenty-one years ago) link

Well I like it. Posties should be in bed by six.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

The Pakenham Arms is indeed full of Mount Pleasant posties but is, luckily, about five minutes' walk from our flat.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

Is it not bright yellow now? or am i suffering from false memory syndrome again? It gets rammed when there's footie on. And it's not as good as the apple tree.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think it is yellow now, but the Apple Tree is a good call too. Key point is that there aint no footie.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

The Apple Tree is open until 1.00. PH34R!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:17 (twenty-one years ago) link

B-but FAP? Smiths surely?

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

Also that area = not simple for our guests to find or get back from (though it suits me obv., being nearer to the Centre of London than our usual West End spots).

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

Greene King, Tim, and 80 shilling!

chris (chris), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

80 Bob + schoolnight = sulky me

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:22 (twenty-one years ago) link

80 Shilling = mmmmmm, yes!

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

I can't guarantee it as a guest beer in a months time though kids

chris (chris), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

I believe melissa is staying in kate's room so apple tree is ideal.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:32 (twenty-one years ago) link

80's not on at the minute, I think it's broadside or something.

Apple tree have nicer vibe than the packenham, which will still be full of posties. I never feel as comfortable in the packenham as I do in the apple tree. Apple tree is flexible to get to, as you can walk from KX or Farringdon in 10 mins, and chancery lane in 5 mins, and the 38, 19, 55 243, 341, 63, 45, 46, 17 go very close.

Oh my God, a FAP within 1 minute of my workplace?! Too good to be true!

Vicky (Vicky), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 13:10 (twenty-one years ago) link

This is next Tuesday isn't it? Apple Tree and all.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 14:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

One minute? It's about 15 seconds, and that's if you're strolling!

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 15:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

I will be there.

Cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 16:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

kinda far out for me (and my tube hate), will try to be there.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 16:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

Hey there all... I'd still love to do the 27th, but there's a very very very tiny chance that I may be going to see Radiohead at Later with Jools Holland that day. I'll keep you all updated, I just don't know yet (it depends upon if I win tickets, unless some of you have a hot Jools Holland connection and can get me one).

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 22 May 2003 07:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

starry you have caused MUCH CONFUSION by mentioning june up there (at least in my head anyway).

so this is next week then? i like the apple tree.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 22 May 2003 07:57 (twenty-one years ago) link

Don't blame me Steve, blame Julio, he's the one banging on abt June... next Tuesday @ the Apple Tree then?

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 22 May 2003 08:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

Turns out, I won't be able to make it to Londres :(

Cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 22 May 2003 08:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

Can I be the first to suggest that even if BOTH our guests can't now make it we go ahead and have a beer anyway?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:06 (twenty-one years ago) link

Can I safely assume we're all agreed on the Apple Tree? I've never been, and it looks splendiferous.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

Aw no Cozen, why??

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

As I said in my e-mail to Marcello: "money wrangles, family politics, hush hush wink slpat urgh bugger: no Sunday, no Monday, no FAP" no FUT... err.

Cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yes, apple tree it is, I'll be there incredibly early, 5.30 and 15 secs.

If anyone requires more detailed directions I'll be glad to help.

Vicky (Vicky), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:32 (twenty-one years ago) link

The Apple tree is at coordinates 51:31:24N, 0:06:44W

Alternatively there is a map here.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yay! 2 Minutes from my work. Woohoo!

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:40 (twenty-one years ago) link

Strewth!

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

Fair dinkum?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:45 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'll be late due to School, but I'll be there.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:46 (twenty-one years ago) link

Oooooh, that map's got my workplace marked on it!

If you want to find the pub on the map, look at the Mount pleasant mail centre, in the bottom corner is the archive, and the pub is on the corner diagonally opposite there.

Vicky (Vicky), Thursday, 22 May 2003 09:46 (twenty-one years ago) link

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 22 May 2003 10:35 (twenty-one years ago) link

Except she's said that it might not be till july now.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 22 May 2003 10:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 22 May 2003 10:44 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm sorry Cozen can't come down now. Melissa, if you can't make the Tuesday FAP, PLEASE propose another time, as I don't want to miss out on meeting you.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 22 May 2003 16:44 (twenty-one years ago) link

I will have to make an appearance at this to give Julio his tape and him my copy of NNY, but probably won't stay around as neither C nor M are definites.
