It just got worse and worse.

roxymuzak, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 01:19 (eighteen years ago)

I like the fourth one.

jhøshea, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

The shadow is ludicrous.

roxymuzak, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

Actually the fifth one would be the best if not for the smiley face.

chap, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 01:29 (eighteen years ago)

goggle loogos

electricsound, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 01:40 (eighteen years ago)

fuck branding people. add serious meaning to a really simple idea and you make a shit ton of money.

jaxon, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 08:02 (eighteen years ago)

Branding is important for a small struggling company that needs every edge it can get. The Google logo is anti-brand in exactly that sense: Our ideas are so good, we don't need a fancy-pants logo. However, Google is definitely brand-conscious at this stage. Note the disappearance of "Froogle", for instance. Pretty soon, YouTube will be Google YouTube and then Google Tube and then long after Google Video has been buried, just that.

libcrypt, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 18:41 (eighteen years ago)

froogle was mad gay

jhøshea, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 18:42 (eighteen years ago)

Froogle was playful, mad gay or no. Google is long past the point of that kind of playfulness now.

libcrypt, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 18:45 (eighteen years ago)

http://base58.com/ilx/googleneo.gif

(would be OK, esp at small size, but no good for the holiday variations)

Has Google always had a logo in the address bar or is this new as of today? (I'm talking about the lowercase "g.")

jaymc, Friday, 30 May 2008 18:31 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, but it got changed today: http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2008-05-30-n48.html

Fuck knows why.

James Mitchell, Friday, 30 May 2008 18:33 (eighteen years ago)

google pathos

dan m, Friday, 30 May 2008 18:33 (eighteen years ago)

i still have an uppercase g

deeznuts, Friday, 30 May 2008 18:34 (eighteen years ago)

Favicon. That's the word I was trying to think of. Anyway, I'd like to register my dislike of the new one. Divorced from the whole word, it just looks like a purple number 8.

jaymc, Friday, 30 May 2008 18:35 (eighteen years ago)

oh wait google.com is an uppercase G but everything else is lowercase

deeznuts, Friday, 30 May 2008 18:37 (eighteen years ago)

greasemonkey for the win: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/27548

James Mitchell, Friday, 30 May 2008 18:38 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmm, that Favicon Picker seems to work for adding a favicon to bookmarks, but it doesn't change the default favicon in the address bar or on tabs when you open a website.

jaymc, Friday, 30 May 2008 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

i like the borderless look of the new one

N1ck (Upt0eleven), Friday, 20 March 2009 16:55 (seventeen years ago)

srsly don't overthink this pls

JtM Is Ruled By A Black Man (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 20 March 2009 16:56 (seventeen years ago)

i'm not really whinin', but they've done dozens of these that are cool-looking and legible, so when i open up my browser for the 5 millionth time and actually don't immediately think "google" when i see the logo i kinda think c'mon, you guys are pros at this, what gives.

i have tied my peanut butter sandwich in a knot (some dude), Friday, 20 March 2009 16:57 (seventeen years ago)

The strawberry is tilted so it's clearly an 'e'. Have you considered the problem is you?

Alex in SF, Friday, 20 March 2009 17:00 (seventeen years ago)

corngoolio

plenty chong (libcrypt), Friday, 20 March 2009 17:04 (seventeen years ago)

ok if we're gonna have a silly argument, let's have a silly argument: how many fonts have an 'e' with a perfectly round hole and no line underneath the enclosed circle?

i have tied my peanut butter sandwich in a knot (some dude), Friday, 20 March 2009 17:05 (seventeen years ago)

i mean they could've had mr. caterpillar help create a clear e instead of just hanging around with the o's not doing shit

i have tied my peanut butter sandwich in a knot (some dude), Friday, 20 March 2009 17:05 (seventeen years ago)

Guys there's only so much you can do with MS Paint OK?

plenty chong (libcrypt), Friday, 20 March 2009 17:06 (seventeen years ago)

you guys are pros at this, what gives.

Actually, it's just one dude. I saw a little tv clip about him once. His entire job is to come up with goofy logos so people on forums can trash talk them. Best job evah!

I f'd up the word rear (Z S), Friday, 20 March 2009 17:10 (seventeen years ago)

ok, that guy is a pro, but like i said he usually does good work, which makes the iffy work more glaring!

i have tied my peanut butter sandwich in a knot (some dude), Friday, 20 March 2009 17:12 (seventeen years ago)

Write him a letter.

Alex in SF, Friday, 20 March 2009 17:45 (seventeen years ago)

i'll write him a letter with e's that are all slightly tilted circles and see how well he understands it

i have tied my peanut butter sandwich in a knot (some dude), Friday, 20 March 2009 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

hed probably understand it ok

ledge, Friday, 22 July 2011 09:17 (fourteen years ago)

collisions evident, not sure calder would stand for that.

ledge, Friday, 22 July 2011 09:17 (fourteen years ago)

omg it rotates! :o

Bloompsday (Trayce), Friday, 22 July 2011 09:18 (fourteen years ago)

not sure there are collisions - i think the way the wire is bent (and the way the virtual version is programmed) restricts the movements of each of the pivots so that the vanes can't collide. (grab the bog yellow thing and spin it - the big blue thing starts moving before collision can happen)

the lack of depth perception is confusing sometimes though.

I forwarded a letter to my senator about my opposition to the "Stop Online Piracy Act". I actually got an e-mail back (this stuff happened about a month ago). The letter back talked about why I shouldn't be concerned and how only foreign websites are going to be effected blah blah blah. Now I'm pissed off at my senator. Why couldn't he have just ignored my letter. I was also pissed off when I got a letter back in which my senator defended cuts to unemployment comp. I hate that he gets the last word

Functional pitch-bend wheel if you can get the mouse pointer there in time

Lee971 (Lee626), Wednesday, 23 May 2012 07:37 (fourteen years ago)

you just gotta use yr keyboard for the keys, leaves your mouse free for the pitch bending and oscillators, etc.

spextor vs bextor (contenderizer), Wednesday, 23 May 2012 07:47 (fourteen years ago)

as soon as i press any key, it jumps to the search bar. how do you play it w/the keyboard?

Meet the G that Skrilled me... (snoball), Saturday, 23 June 2012 07:50 (thirteen years ago)

Got it. You have to change the program at the bottom so that the 5 digit target in the top right matches the number on the main tape. There are 6 levels, each one corresponding to a letter in 'Google', which lights up when you've figured out the sequence for that letter.
