s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 14 June 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I was disturbed to discover a juice bar in the airport on Friday called Love Juice.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 14 June 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

That's to get the mile-highers in the mood and lubricated.

penelope_111, Monday, 14 June 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't heard the expression "love juice" since I was 16.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 14 June 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

How are the Cranky Itchers?

DB should have arrived in NYC by now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 14 June 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i had a layover in Dallas. they have the fucking coolest thing. the Aqua-Massager,. you lay in this waterproof sleeping bag type thing with all your clothes on in the middle of the airport and get pelted with hard streams of water while everyone can watch. very weird. had it been a little more private, i woulda thought it was kinda cool

JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 17:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm currently in front of gate 210 in ONT waiting on JetBlue to take me to JFK.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

The ONT terminal is nice in a late-90s shopping mall sort of way, but the layout is horrible with one long linear line of gates so you have to walk miles. Additionally, there are no electrical power outlets near the seating, you have to sit on the floor in the middle of the walkway.

At least the wireless is free.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 04:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeah, there's an ant problem here too.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 04:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Hell yes, it's ant season. Mine's coming for a stay next week.

Have a good time in NYC, Elvis.

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 23 July 2004 04:51 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a LOT of ants here. If this was anything smaller than a giant airport terminal building we'd be re-enacting Phase IV here.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:01 (twenty-one years ago)

What kind of ants and what's the nature of your trip?

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Standard-sized house ants.

Going to NYC to see JBR, take more of my stuff out in advance of the October move, and to go see Devo & the Yeah Yeah Yeahs(as mentioned on this thread)

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I also win because I was able to score an exit row seat at the last minute. Hooray for extra leg room!

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Leg room is a big plus So's the Devo date. Exactly when are they playig?

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Friday night in Central Park with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. There's an ILM thread about it.

Anyway, getting on the plane now

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Happy landings!

(Wish I'd actually thought to look for this thread on Thursday, when I was actually in an airport.

I'll be in two airports next week. One in Canada! Calgary! I've never been to Canada before. I'll be there for all of an hour!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:18 (twenty years ago)

actually, three airports.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:18 (twenty years ago)

what's your second airport?

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:18 (twenty years ago)

I'm in an airport for the first time in ages. S'weird, everything seems back to normal except the masks.

Good 'ol BWI. Stay safe.

Legalize Suburban Benches (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 22 December 2021 23:54 (four years ago)

I traveled from BWI a week before Thanksgiving and then came back on Dec 11th and it was the nearest I'd ever come to hardcore holiday flying, and YIKES. Sending good energy to you and anyone doing this this year

G. D’Arcy Cheesewright (silby), Wednesday, 16 November 2022 23:51 (three years ago)

the airport is the only place where I see white people from the suburbs or whatever and I hate all of them so much

yeah I mean like, people get sick at the airport _anyway_

yeah i mean i was wiping down my seat and tray table and sometimes wearing a mask even before covid— getting sick from a flight experience happened to me a few too many times when i was younger.

also cosign re suburbanites— jesus these people are so normie and awful

Living in London has really taken any affection I had for airports out of me lol. The standardization is a bummer too, like every airport in Europe now having that damn duty free shopping corridor you need to go through.

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 1 September 2023 00:24 (two years ago)

It’s a good tequila and I think you deserve it. Try not to show up in a viral video later.

Josefa, Friday, 1 September 2023 00:30 (two years ago)

I was desperate enough to hear a follow up to 1984 that I gave 5150 another chance last weekend after nearly 30 years of abstinance. Starting with "Dreams", i made it as far as "reach for the golden ring" on my first attempt before switching it off.

The second time through was unbearably sad, though. It's the optimism for a future that never materialized, where you know you're watching a tragedy but the actors still think it's another kind of play. Part of it is def that there's a certain brand of corporate modernism preserved in amber, like they've ditched the laser grid of 1984, put on a blazer and stepped into the Frasurbane Mcdonalds. But also the energy of a new creative partnership that seems full of promise but already peaked.

Oh, Sammmy, I'd love a tequila TY for offering.

So I get to Orlando International Airport to get my mother. I miss the turn for cell phone lot so I cut through Departing Flights cos it's empty.

Few lights illuminated, unusually dark. I see this item lying there in my lane almost immediately and swerve out of the way.

It's a fucking car bumper. No cones to warn about it or any attempt to clear it, just this serious road hazard sitting there right almost immediately after you bank left.

This Airport is just more and more bizarre every day.

Iacocca Cola (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 11 June 2024 01:58 (one year ago)

maybe it had fallen off the previous car to pass through and you were the first person to have the opportunity to clear it

bae (sic), Tuesday, 11 June 2024 02:04 (one year ago)

Probably lucky it wasn't landing gear or some other important part of a Boeing plane.

Jaq, Tuesday, 11 June 2024 02:07 (one year ago)

I'm going with the more likely explanation that there was an accident that occurred there a while ago

Xpost yeah ain't nobody wanna be Donnie Darkoed

Iacocca Cola (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 11 June 2024 02:08 (one year ago)

In any case I couldn't see what it was until I had already swerved out of its way. Due to lack of lighting

Iacocca Cola (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 11 June 2024 02:09 (one year ago)

I was in the Austin airport last week and it wasn't bad except for having to walk almost a mile outside in 100 F heat to get to the taxi/rideshare pickup location.

Jaq, Tuesday, 11 June 2024 02:10 (one year ago)

Oi that's brutal

Iacocca Cola (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 11 June 2024 02:16 (one year ago)

free bumper, dude
when I was in Austin they had an entire section of the lower parking garage set up for uber/whatever that was attached to the airport but warm. did they move it?

ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Tuesday, 11 June 2024 03:56 (one year ago)

I say warm as a pejorative here because the air wasn’t moving and it was just a bit toasty

ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Tuesday, 11 June 2024 03:57 (one year ago)

Maybe it was the gates I flew into but yeah had to walk through a section of parking garage then go up a floor then walk some more to the pickup zone

was heading to montreal via detroit, but when I woke up I found out the detroit->montreal leg was canceled and they’d auto-rebooked me to do minneapolis->montreal instead.

so instead of arriving at noon, I arrive at 5pm which is nbd. won’t have to kill any time before hotel check-in. just lounging in a near-empty part of the terminal. construction going on opposite some recently-constructed wall sounded like Colin Stetson playing saxophone for a moment, appropriate since I should be seeing him tomorrow evening

Hopefully someone can help me out with an airline question (and if there’s another thread for this, let me know) -

I’m about to book a round trip flight for someone through Southwest. (They will be coming to me from another state.) It’s the first time I’ve ever done this. Is there any trick or pitfall to this that I should be ready for?

This is probably just paranoia on my part but it’s weird that the site doesn’t have a FAQ section specifically for this, so wanted to see if anyone else had done this, or had problems with it.

Marten Broadcloak, mild-mannered GOP congressman (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 30 October 2024 21:24 (one year ago)

You just need the passenger's legal name & DOB (and their Redress & KT# if they have TSA PRE/Global Entry).

You fill out your details on the billing portion.

No need to stress, this is a very common practice especially for biz travelers...

...unless the passenger is your mistress/mister/someone who you don't want to be tracked back to you?
