I would say classic, it gives nerds something to dress up as other than friggin' Star Crap (= Trek/Wars). Some of the costume are very neat and could almost be worn as normal, interesting clothes. There should be a weight restriction on certain costumes however.

deeply classic.

anthony easton (anthony), Thursday, 31 July 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

interesting how that guy took shots of only the cute chicks and skinnier guys...

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 31 July 2003 04:35 (twenty-two years ago)

What IS cosplay, anyway?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 July 2003 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

That suit's for fuckin'!

Dan I. (Dan I.), Thursday, 31 July 2003 05:17 (twenty-two years ago)

It's the anime equilvalent of SF fandom's masqurade, if you're familiar with that. The main difference is that in cosplay, you're expected to act in charcter at all times while in costume (IIRC).

(Oh, and ILX needs a spellchecker badly. For me, if no one else.)

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Thursday, 31 July 2003 06:05 (twenty-two years ago)

The costumes can be dead sexy, it boggles my mind to think there's people out there who must spend a lot of time making those things.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 31 July 2003 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

dude, you'd be surprised what people sink their lives into for a prolonged period. Did you seen the guy who built a wooden mech in his backyard for his kids to play on? Or the guy who built a Tantive IV/Blockade Runner in a parking lot for no particular reason?

or even that one irish/ameican dude who spent like 3 years recording this album, so that it almost killed his label and his band really never put out another one?

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

>interesting how that guy took shots of only the cute chicks and skinnier guys...

The link is to his pictures is sorted by "most popular" in order to spare ILXors from seeing people in sailor moon suits who shouldn't be wearing sailor moon suits.

The majority of people waste their time anyways, there are certain more socially acceptable ways to waste it than others.

fletrejet, Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, Kingfish, I've heard about that guy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, Kingfish, I've heard about that guy.

yeah, man, i mean, crazy what people devote their lives to, huh?

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 31 July 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

One of the first internet porn sites I ever saw was all about cosplay bukkake. I'd never heard of either of these things before. At the time, it was the craziest thing I'd ever seen.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Thursday, 31 July 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmm. Makes me wonder, it does.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 July 2003 15:26 (twenty-two years ago)

this is still my favorite costume

Allegedly one of the 'cool new people' on Myspace. I have doubts:

The level of detail and accuracy of those Dead or Alive Volleyball swimsuits is stunning.

Fat Mr. Terrific

Oilyrags, Saturday, 4 August 2007 00:32 (eighteen years ago)

I totally saw those guys at Comic Con! Vixen doesn't quite have the figure of her animated counterpart, either.

Jeff Treppel, Saturday, 4 August 2007 00:37 (eighteen years ago)

I saw them too!

Better loosen that collar or he's gonna be one dead cosplayer.

libcrypt, Saturday, 26 July 2008 19:24 (seventeen years ago)

I don't pay a lot of attention to Power Girl - maybe she's supposed to have a purple face.

Well, I guess *someone* had to be Dr. Manhattan...

I shall always respect my elders (Z S), Tuesday, 10 February 2009 01:46 (seventeen years ago)

dude can you do one of your awesome animated gifs with this?

l8b100m3r (latebloomer), Tuesday, 10 February 2009 01:48 (seventeen years ago)

I can certainly try. I don't know though, that Dr. Manhattan dude looks like he could barely pick up a fork. Photoshop might give me a fatal error if I try to make him do anything cool.

I shall always respect my elders (Z S), Tuesday, 10 February 2009 01:51 (seventeen years ago)

ozymandias = kid in late elementary/middle school who smoked cigarettes in the woods during recess.

Dude looks more like one of those liquid aliens on "Futurama."

Kudos to combination Rohrshach/Elephant Man costume, though.

Kid Manhattan did a good job making the Bohr model a nice circle.
