much like jimmy webb, i like p.f. sloan records more in theory than in practice. both are generally better songwriters than performers, but this one is fucking killing me. so good.

This is really just an incredibly good record. I tend to prioriotize the first side over the second, but it's a fantastic album throughout.

johnny darrell is big fave of mine. i got california stop over 5 or so years ago and then eventually acquired almost the entire catalog.. i think there still might be one i don't have, the one after california stop over. 'ruby, don't take yer love to town' is straight classics on the first side and some sad, sad ballads on the b... really great versions of 'mental revenge' and 'she's mighty gone'
