Did Parlophone start sealing stock with Please Please Me, or not until With The Beatles?

I'd looks at discogs, but obviously a sealed copy might not have been sold, just to get an idea

eBay closed auctions as well, feel like rare stuff is better on eBay

looking around it's hard to say, but I feel like $1000 minimum

is it mono?

three weeks pass...

honestly with beatles stuff you need as many details as you can. If it's a sealed pressing from the 1980s it's not gonna be worth nearly as much as a sealed original copy. With sealed records it can be tricky because there are no matrix numbers or label variations to reference. Lotta unknowns. Known unknowns.

Ha! I have a sealed copy of Let It Be, definitely from 1970 or 1971 because he bought it right before he met my Mom and she had a copy already. Original price tag of $2.99 is still on the shrink. I always assumed it was worth about $50 as they pressed a million Beatles records.

Meant to say, *my dad bought it*

while cataloguing all my stuff on Discogs I found that I had a sealed copy of OK Computer, and looking at the bar code and copyright I believe it is this one:

https://www.discogs.com/Radiohead-OK-Computer/release/4950798

I think I bought it in 2006 or so. I was big into Radiohead then, but apparently not big enough to actually open the shrinkwrap

What should I do with this? NM copies seem to be going for $300-350, a sealed copy may be as much as $550? I'd much rather sell it and just buy one of the reissues.

fwiw a "still sealed" copy sold for $$325 a little over a month ago, according to the sales history

2020-08-12 Mint (M) Mint (M) $325.57 €279.99
Comments: new still sealed / bought in 1997 , never opened never came out of my stock , i can't say if it's a nodata pressing or another , sorry as it is still sealed ! / pictures on demand

always worth checking actual sales history as opposed to "for sale" pricing, which can be uh a little bit optimistic at times

yeah that's just looking on discogs, I know a lot of valuable stuff is often listed at 50-75% more than it's ever actually bought for

I couldn't find one that sold in the US - only listing I see is for $319, appears to be open though

but then y'know a "NM" version sold for $464 five days later, so really who knows

sleeve, Friday, 25 September 2020 21:38 (three years ago) link

you should open it to find if it's a hot stamper

I don't need to open it to know that it absolutely is

frogbs, Friday, 25 September 2020 21:47 (three years ago) link

Come to think of it I better add a couple zeroes to the asking price

frogbs, Friday, 25 September 2020 21:57 (three years ago) link

the funny thing about looking this up is that now the ads on every single website are trying to sell me a brand new original pressing of OK Computer
