oh man that bill dixon is SO GOOD. advanced and somewhat free big band music, but not at all like sun ra or charles mingus. dixon is a guy im just starting to get my head around, so im not sure i can quite do it justice in description, but i highly recommend it!

I found that while visiting my grandparents in Louisiana, there's a big flea market near their house and this one guy has lots of records, all .25! I'll be going to visit them in a few weeks. I want to dig in Baton Rouge and Shreveport too, maybe Alexandria.
