This kind of thing really angers me. At best this record would sell in an auction for maybe $10.00 with the top repaired by tape and it says more seams are split. It's a lounge record from New Orleans, no fuzz or psych moves. He says soul/funk, but come on. Frankie Brent had a few 45's on different major labels in the 60's doing R&B/popcorn that are mildly collectable. In the 70's played at hotels and bars, still playing 60's songs in a cheesy lounge style. I mean even one of the most sought after lounge records by JC Ann Trio only sells for $250 at best. The weirdo Jerry Solomon has sold for $1000, but those have been hyped by Paul Major since the 80's. What is this guy thinking. Does he even know his records?

His bid was eclipsed fortunately, but also thankfully eBay now has safeguards/seller protection to prevent shit like this from getting out of hand.

yeah, that's ridic -- don't bid on two copies of the same record until you know you've lost one. or if you're prepared to buy two copies.

(ebay ppl have it easy in that regard. there are two copise of the skillet lickers 'liberty' 78rpm in two different mail auctions right now -- and i want that record, cuz it's really great, but i'm not gonna bid on both copies cuz i don't want to own both copies.)

I won this lounge record on Sept 1 and today on the 7th, I received a message : "There will be a slight delay for your record. I am out of stock of mailing LP supplies. I am searching for emergency supply and should have your record out Monday or Tuesday. Thanks for your patience and for bidding."

i'm always happy if people just tell me what the hell is going on. it makes a big difference.

I'm actually surprised, he didn't just make a mailer! I've received a lot of records in make shift crappy boxes, one was two pieces of cardboard then wrap in so much tape, I think he used a half a roll.

I can't really afford to refund him, but I feel like a dick if I tell him he's got to eat it? The package was not insured.

ouch... maybe give him 30 bucks? tbf this is why you (the buyer) should insure int'l orders. can he get a refund from Paypal? does that create problems for you if he does?

If he makes a claim with PayPal it takes if outta my account. If he makes a claim with the post office I don't think that works cuz I only declared the package for like twenty bucks..

great record! i think i paid around $20 for my copy, but i dunno what the 'going rate' is.

oh yes it is so so so so wonderful-- it's one of my top 3 favorites of theirs but i wanted to know whether $29 was too much to pay
(i already paid it because i felt like i needed a present, but i just wanted to be reassured that i was not an idiot even though i know that clearly i am an idiot)

i don't think crumb does ebay! i bet Richard Nevins will be one of the high bidders, if not the winner -- head honcho at Shanachie/Yazoo with money to burn..

you never know, though. i bet it'll sell for a lot. wouldn't be terribly surprised if it tracks $20k.

So interesting to think about how people have this kind of money to spend on a record. Other people save up that much to do major renovations or buy new cars.
