dude never paid, i moved it back over to discogs for $700, and it sold the same day. lady was stoked, paid immediately, and i shipped it fully insured today.

i hate deadbeat ebayers but that dude was a blessing in disguise~

i had one dude who didn't pay on a $5 underworld 12" and then claimed he did pay and actually had received the record, but i still had it! it was like something from 'lost highway'. record nerd versh.

what are your guys' policies on shipping with insurance?

always? sometimes (monetary value/international destination)? never?

Or better yet, does USPS raise an eyebrow if you declare an item for $10 on the customs form and then insure it for $50-100?

I've got a guy in Germany claiming he hasn't received a $75 45rpm I shipped from USA 4 weeks ago. He has a 1000+ ebay rating. I sent it uninsured.

ask him to wait a few more days.
i had a guy in spain email me because he hadn't received his records in a month and they turned up the same day he wrote to me. this seems to happen often/

USPS normally doesn't care what the custom form says so "Vinyl record" and "$10" should be fine but someone tell me if I'm wrong when the insurance variable is in the equation?

Otherwise don't attribute any issue to custom form details- I've only heard of issues when it goes to Brazil, personally.

there is no postal law that says you can't insure a ten dollar package for more than ten dollars.

Seriously though I feel like you can write anything you want on those customs forms insurance aside.

i usually only insure stuff if its pricy. or if someone asks for it. but hardly anyone ever asks for it. if i'm sending something that is $100+ to somewhere in the states i will pay for priority shipping + delivery confirmation or signature confirmation. that's usually good enough. if its to europe and over a hundred bucks i'll sometimes pay for faster/trackable shipping and insurance. would never send anything $$$ overseas without tracking/insurance after a couple of bad experiences years ago.

is it appropriate during the paypal dispute process to tell someone that, while they seem to be completely truant about mailing records, you really like their new record a lot?
