My record has 10 watchers! is that decent for being up one day? Selling records is nerve wreaking!!

JacobSanders, Monday, 8 October 2012 19:42 (thirteen years ago)

for one day that's good!

omar little, Monday, 8 October 2012 19:43 (thirteen years ago)

I just notice that my listings say I do not accept returns. Ebay won't let me change this is revisions for the listings. Should I write in the description that I accept returns within 14 days or just let them be?

JacobSanders, Tuesday, 9 October 2012 19:50 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, if u can change the listings, do it!

69, Tuesday, 9 October 2012 20:00 (thirteen years ago)

i dont think thats gonna stop many ppl from bidding though tbh

69, Tuesday, 9 October 2012 20:00 (thirteen years ago)

i've only ever had one return, a rare oop look copy of a gentle waves LP that was in merely "ok" shape. dude returned it and it was destroyed en route. he didn't pack it well. mfer.

omar little, Tuesday, 9 October 2012 20:06 (thirteen years ago)

Ebay won't let you change your return policy on the listing, but I was thinking I would write in the description that I accept returns. Why wouldn't ebay let you change it?

JacobSanders, Tuesday, 9 October 2012 20:07 (thirteen years ago)

it probably has something to do with people changing it the other way around i imagine?

omar little, Tuesday, 9 October 2012 20:13 (thirteen years ago)

yeah that makes perfect sense.

JacobSanders, Tuesday, 9 October 2012 20:21 (thirteen years ago)

Still no bids on Sweet Inspirations, a little nervous. It was been viewed almost 200 times, but only has 9 watchers, down from 10. The rest of my records have been viewed 10 or 15 times, so that's something...

JacobSanders, Thursday, 11 October 2012 15:44 (thirteen years ago)

i bid on the sweet inspirations.

What really surprises me is how many people are watching A Train the jazzy AOR record. 41 views and 18 watchers. Both bids are from Japan.

JacobSanders, Friday, 12 October 2012 18:14 (thirteen years ago)

i was v surprised when that didnt go fast (or at all) in your waxi sale

69, Friday, 12 October 2012 18:30 (thirteen years ago)

Me too, I thought 70 was a great markdown.

JacobSanders, Friday, 12 October 2012 20:10 (thirteen years ago)

That was fun!! Thanks Ian!!

JacobSanders, Sunday, 14 October 2012 01:50 (thirteen years ago)

I didn't come close to the previous sale, but I'm not complaining!

JacobSanders, Sunday, 14 October 2012 01:51 (thirteen years ago)

not bad at all!

i guess i'd just rather listen to canned heat? (ian), Sunday, 14 October 2012 02:48 (thirteen years ago)

It's looking like europe and japan are getting all of the records I'm selling. I'm awful at figuring out international shipping.

JacobSanders, Sunday, 14 October 2012 02:55 (thirteen years ago)

it's gotten pretty expensive. send first class intl not prioty, unless they want tracking, cuz sometimes intl packages are hard to track.
the japanese have been buying all our good records for so long. they are so refined in their taste. 10 yrs head of the curve

i guess i'd just rather listen to canned heat? (ian), Sunday, 14 October 2012 04:36 (thirteen years ago)

definitely get tracking. and insurance. you gotta cover your butt. i charge 15 bucks flat worldwide but if a record sells for over a hundred i pay the extra shipping to send it priority with tracking. which is like an extra 15 bucks usually. i don't mind paying the extra money cuz the last thing you want is have someone say they didn't get a $$$ record. because there is nothing you can do about it and ebay/paypal will just take the price of the record from you. you have no rights in that case.

scott seward, Sunday, 14 October 2012 16:16 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, i mean, if yer sending a hundred dollar record it makes sense. i am not abt to pay $15 extra for something that only sold for $25 tho. ya know whattamean? there goes all the profit.

i guess i'd just rather listen to canned heat? (ian), Sunday, 14 October 2012 17:06 (thirteen years ago)

no i never do that. but i've learned the hard way to send pricy shit securely.

scott seward, Sunday, 14 October 2012 18:50 (thirteen years ago)

ebay does not do anything to help the seller. My dad has been stuck a couple of times selling internationally, but fortunately not for anything too expensive.

los blue jeans, Monday, 15 October 2012 00:42 (thirteen years ago)

you can always ask someone: look would you pay an extra 15 bucks or whatever to make sure it gets there? some will. if they don't want to, then you'd better do it yourself. discogs is good for that. you can negotiate with people and ask them what they want to pay for before they send you money.

least favorite thing:
getting outbid notice in the email after getting you did not win notice.

today's victim: a scarce-but-not-expensive nicholson's players 78.

The cover has been taped on the bottom and has some sort of liquid stains on the bottom and the record has some scratches and is a bit dirty and needs to be cleaned.

scott seward, Thursday, 1 November 2012 23:26 (thirteen years ago)

Chubby Checker's "Your Twist Party" on Parkway Records. record has some scratches, a couple are deep on one side, so don't know if it will play or not. THERE IS NO COVER FOR THIS ALBUM!

$10.78 Economy Shipping

scott seward, Thursday, 1 November 2012 23:31 (thirteen years ago)

oh jeez. i won an auction for a Roxy Music 2lp bootleg at a good price (no other bidders). the guy had shipping listed at $8.75 or something. i emailed to see if the standard $4 media mail was an option, and he wrote back that he's not familiar w/ that but he'd check at the post office. a week went by, and he then replied that the post office told him they cannot accept anything w/ an LP's dimensions as media mail... so i gave up, and just went w/ the $8.75 shipping (lp was at a good price). three weeks pass, nothing. i write to the guy, and he said he was waiting on record mailers, but since i wrote, he figured i must be in a hurry (!) so he packaged it in a different box. i feared the worst. lp arrived last week, actually packaged well (it better be, for $8.75) BUT ONE OF THE LPS HAS A BIG SCRATCH THAT SKIPS.

kinda boring story, i know.

69, Friday, 2 November 2012 00:02 (thirteen years ago)

nerve_pylon, Friday, 2 November 2012 00:07 (thirteen years ago)

i am waiting for a japanese guy to pay me for a funk 45. then i can buy more 78s.

now i'm picturing a hungover clown driving to his third little kid party of the day. a clown's life. its no picnic.

scott seward, Saturday, 3 November 2012 18:55 (thirteen years ago)

i was really hoping to swing by and pick of the record afterward, but NO
