hahaha. I'm spinning it as subsidizing my trip to Woodsist Fest.

I was happy somebody local bought that record so I could just drop it off and avoid having to deal with shipping, worrying about it getting lost, etc.

However I didn't factor in that I then risked a Comic Book Guy type of person inspecting the record on the spot and critiquing my grading to my face.

Was a bit nerve-racking but after he declared it "a little dustier than I'd like ... not exactly mint" (I didn't grade it mint) we parted ways on good terms. Adios good sir.

dmr, Friday, 6 July 2012 18:10 (thirteen years ago)

lol, yeah, people are weird man... glad things worked out okay. it's weird, ppl who are into spending hundreds on records but not understanding grading etc.

one dis leads to another (ian), Friday, 6 July 2012 18:11 (thirteen years ago)

I am not super confident in my grading tbh

dmr, Friday, 6 July 2012 18:16 (thirteen years ago)

think I described this record fine though

dmr, Friday, 6 July 2012 18:17 (thirteen years ago)

i have a couple of good classical records ending today that are going up nicely. very curious what they will end up at. then i panic about my grading. i never put near mint on anything. that helps. unless it was sealed and i opened it. with rock stuff i will do near mint occasionally.

scott seward, Friday, 6 July 2012 18:19 (thirteen years ago)

yeah I did put NM on this and probably maybe should have put VG+ which is what I usually put on almost everything

but it's about as clean a record as I'm gonna ever have up on ebay

dmr, Friday, 6 July 2012 18:42 (thirteen years ago)

fuck it dude, NM isnt M

69, Friday, 6 July 2012 18:58 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, i'd like to see all those Sonambient records at my place.

kicking myself yet again for not buying all of those from RRR back in the 90's when he was selling them for dirt cheap.

sleeve, Saturday, 7 July 2012 00:16 (thirteen years ago)

eBay has been good to me lately, picked up a Steve Roden 10" that I haven't ever seen for sale anywhere, it was $10. currently bidding on the only Thinking Fellers vinyl I don't have (Wormed By Leonard, I have the cassette tho). the recession has really improved (i.e. lowered) the prices on a lot of stuff I collect.

sleeve, Saturday, 7 July 2012 00:19 (thirteen years ago)

big fat meh re: ebay. so so so sick of badly-graded records. much higher success rate w/ Discogs.

nerve_pylon, Saturday, 7 July 2012 00:38 (thirteen years ago)

i highly recommend green river records & venerable music as alternatives to ebay for the purchase of 78rpm records

one dis leads to another (ian), Saturday, 7 July 2012 21:09 (thirteen years ago)

aren't you the only person who buys 78s online here?

though good information for future generations and random goggle jockeys.

scott seward, Sunday, 8 July 2012 02:27 (thirteen years ago)

i was happy to sell russian records to my friend yuri instead of trying to sell them online. not 78s though. though i have sold him 78s. if academy ever gets any russian 78s email him. he's always looking.

http://www.russian-records.com/

scott seward, Sunday, 8 July 2012 02:29 (thirteen years ago)

he even bought some of my folk 78s cuz they were on labels owned by russian immigrants.

nobody wants my country dance/folk dance 78s. :(

they're in such nice shape. nice henry ford label records. all kinds. new england square dance records. contra dance records. i have so many of them. thought some of the folk dance people around here would dig them, but nope.

scott seward, Sunday, 8 July 2012 02:31 (thirteen years ago)

should have put the henry ford ones online a year ago. i sell them for three dollars in my store. they are never on ebay. ever. his own custom label folk dance orchestra stuff. i try to give the locals a chance...

think i sold a couple of them...

scott seward, Sunday, 8 July 2012 02:48 (thirteen years ago)

even i can't hang with square dance music :( the occasional fiddle tune with calls is okay but legit square dance music... tough listen for me.

scott seward, Saturday, 14 July 2012 00:03 (thirteen years ago)

gonna see how much he gets for my stoneground wlp. or my traveling wilburys album. i actually have fun watching him sell my store stuff.

scott seward, Saturday, 14 July 2012 00:07 (thirteen years ago)

i'm not sure what in that lot he bought from us. idk.
but he's got a bunch of great records as always. my fave chris darrow record still at a buck..

one dis leads to another (ian), Saturday, 14 July 2012 03:43 (thirteen years ago)

lots of stuff i want. won't be buying though. he sold me the erica pomerance record. and robert wyatt record i needed and kevin ayers i needed. when he was at the store. i make him bust open a few boxes in his car when he shows up now. its like christmas in that car. *sigh*

scott seward, Saturday, 14 July 2012 04:00 (thirteen years ago)

if you google it the only info of note is an ILX post from me being like "this record is okay, it's not that great."

one dis leads to another (ian), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 19:44 (thirteen years ago)

is there any actual "psych" to be heard on it?

scott seward, Wednesday, 18 July 2012 20:25 (thirteen years ago)

there are some spacey guitars i guess? i actually have not listened to it in a long time.

one dis leads to another (ian), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 20:53 (thirteen years ago)

Wish I could add that to my tax scam collection, but we just bought a big truck and John Villemonte's second record 'This' is up for sale!

JacobSanders, Thursday, 19 July 2012 02:52 (thirteen years ago)

i like what i've heard of his first

bad wife decisions (electricsound), Thursday, 19 July 2012 03:11 (thirteen years ago)

His first record is golden! I don't know know what the second one is like but I've got deep pockets.

JacobSanders, Thursday, 19 July 2012 04:56 (thirteen years ago)

man re-listening to this haselden record, it is better than i remember.
no regrets though. i cut my hours at work down a bit so i need to compensate by selling rekkerds.

one dis leads to another (ian), Thursday, 19 July 2012 14:40 (thirteen years ago)

his 2nd album is one of my favorite records.

scott seward, Thursday, 19 July 2012 15:39 (thirteen years ago)

uh the villemonte. i feel bad that i sold my copy of his 3rd album. i liked that too and didn't get much for it. he sells them all on cd on his website.

scott seward, Thursday, 19 July 2012 15:40 (thirteen years ago)
