i have the magus, and i dont know. it lacks the INTENT and focus of the first two TEB records for me...

I love Evie Sands, that on is all sunshine soul pop. Even her 70's record is great, full of breaks. I never knew there was a vol 3 for Homegrown. I'm thinking of putting 1 and 2 on ebay. Trying to decide what to sell today.

er, I meant that one is all sunshine soul pop.

i've seen other homegrown comps though. sandiego i think. i think they're just small pressed comps of shitty local bands

jaxon, Tuesday, 6 September 2011 19:20 (fourteen years ago)

it would be hard to match the intensity of those first two third ear band records, true (almost feel like i'm on the point of going into a hypnotic trance when listening to parts of them). i still need to get around to checking out the stuff they recorded in the eighties and nineties, not sure how available that stuff is though.

i wanna hear the macbeth soundtrack -- i hear it's almost as good as those first two?

69, Tuesday, 6 September 2011 19:56 (fourteen years ago)

watery love -- die w dignity/leave me alone 7"

69, Tuesday, 6 September 2011 19:56 (fourteen years ago)

wow i never knew this record was this good!

69, Tuesday, 6 September 2011 20:45 (fourteen years ago)

i really like the macbeth soundtrack, from memory it's quite a bit sparer and more atmospheric than the first two (the film is pretty good too).

just finished listening to shepp's magic of ju-ju, which is awesome; great moaning bowed bass(?) on the title track, was wondering if it was chanting at first.

Caspar Brotzmann Massaker Dachstock Bern Switzerland 4/9/11
hadn't realised they'd reformed until this turned up on Dime yesterday. Explains why there's a Facebook page for them now, thought it was just to celebrate their old stuff. Don't seem to be getting any messages from them.

Seem almost as good & this is the classic trio that bowed out with the Home live in the studio lp.
