Speaking of esp jazz, I spotted Charles Tyler "Eastern Man Alone" at the station but I haven't checked it out yet.
Any thoughts?
Still loving the McCoy Tyner record from upthread.

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 19 July 2011 23:42 (fourteen years ago)

dont have that one, but the tyler ensemble one is really really great!

69, Tuesday, 19 July 2011 23:44 (fourteen years ago)

eastern man alone is the only tyler solo stuff i have (get back reissue with a really fucking annoying pressing fault through the first tracks on both sides /moan). been awhile since i played it, but basically stretched out improv with droning cello/heavy eastern influence from memory. quite liked it, but need to listen again.

and yeah, that esp sampler is great, love the way it all runs together. don't think i could have had a better intro to sun ra than that a house of beauty extract (even if it's pretty atypical of his "usual" thing).

again. this is really cool. kraut dub psych.

nerve_pylon, Wednesday, 20 July 2011 21:44 (fourteen years ago)

what is that again?

I need a better copy of that Manzanera, the "Miss Shapiro" on mine is kinda scratchy and that song is such a great lost Eno tune.

Also, thread is making me want more McCoy Tyner, all I have is Sahara and the Impulse 2LP best-of.

on now:
