scott seward, Saturday, 22 January 2011 16:15 (fifteen years ago)

always loved how the foxx album was a "rock novella". they weren't getting TOO ambitious, you know? okay, a little more ambitious than a "rock short story", but something less than a "rock novel".

Allman Brothers - Eat a Peach
Space Ritual is one of those records that I buy whenever I see it, it's always a good gift.
I've only ever found it once on vinyl, though, and it was a VG+ priced for 18 dollars at Shangri La in Memphis.
I picked it out and walked straight to the register with it it. Dude behind the counter looked PISSED about the price, couldn't understand it, but he didn't try to change it or anything. It's the six panel gatefold, too! I've bought two different versions of it on cd.

jaxon, Sunday, 23 January 2011 06:13 (fifteen years ago)

kinda like how road and icarus by paul winter probably aren't rated by a lot of hepcats, but there is great stuff there.

scott seward, Sunday, 23 January 2011 17:41 (fifteen years ago)

this is good too

i can totally see how they could sail into the seas of cheese as the 70s progress, but they're keeping it real on that one (1972).

We used to have space ritual for like nothin and no one bought it. It would be the hundredth such treasure at that store, which has been closed two years now. I didn't know it was a thing! In the spirit of this thread, my turntable has on it The Uncollected Shepherd Fields Vol. 2. Good arrangements and that's about it. Not a bad band but a goony singer and dull romantic stalkery material. The guy who owned the store where I worked a long time ago just opened a place in Chattanooga.

bamcquern, Tuesday, 25 January 2011 06:13 (fifteen years ago)

He was funny. I remember putting on was not saw's first album and he thought it was gay. And I didn't pick it up because of tha_t even though I bought gayer shit every week.
