how are those Baker's Air Force records? I always imagined them sounding like a 70s October Faction

air force records are afro-jazz-percussion jamz that last for days. i dig them, but i've never loved them. i had that double album when i was a kid! brings back weird memories.

i bought it thinking it was gonna be new age but it's kinda corny fusion. need to listen more

one of the best records i've bought in a while. super spaced out new agey guitar noodling like ash ra but w/funky drums underneath and sax on top.

jaxon, Saturday, 8 January 2011 18:59 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah sunset glow is a real favorite! kind of a rock bottom for ladies

exactly

jaxon, Saturday, 8 January 2011 19:19 (thirteen years ago) link

is Barry McGuire the dude who did "Eve of Destruction"?

man, you guys lose me with this New Age stuff ... although I *have* started recently collecting all these 3CD of Klaus Schulze stuff (that I gather was previously collected on his massice 50 CD sets) ... those are kinda blowing my mind. Never bought the 50 CD set or whatever so this is kinda a revelation ... didn't even know this series had started until recently! .. but i guess this prolly more belongs on "What's On (but not On) .." thread..

Stormy Davis, Saturday, 8 January 2011 21:26 (thirteen years ago) link

i mean, instead of 'new age', i could use the words cosmic, synthy, krauty or something and it'd be the same.

jaxon, Saturday, 8 January 2011 21:30 (thirteen years ago) link

and ya, same guy as eve of destruction

jaxon, Saturday, 8 January 2011 21:31 (thirteen years ago) link

this is the title track of 'cosmic cowboy'

wow, that's pretty nice! um, instrumentally anyway, great track. boy, not so sure about Barry's vox tho....

Stormy Davis, Saturday, 8 January 2011 22:00 (thirteen years ago) link

ya, it's kinda weird. the rest of the album he actually sings and there are some pretty far out moments on it.

i thought i'd plug my malfunctioning receiver back in, and see if i could wake it from the dead, by bashing it with my fists: a sure deal!

right now: jerry jeff walker - some blank white/stamped one-sided record that claims to be recorded live in Saint Peter, MN. really nice!

Thanks for the tip on Patton, but we've got it at the station.
It would be worth owning, but I've spent my record funds for the month, I think.

Trip Maker, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 15:35 (thirteen years ago) link

jaxon, i tried downloading those a few days ago -- for some weird reason it would never let me download. I'll try again for the Plasters Falling lp. btw I did rip a great sounding copy of Pop Surgery shortly after my post yesterday. If anyone wants a copy, just say
