damn i love this record

69, Friday, 27 August 2010 18:38 (fifteen years ago)

i don't even know who i'm talking to. all of you, i guess.

Walked to the London ILX FAP last night in the pissing rain listening to a Vietnamese version of Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree. It seemed curiously appropriate.

NIrvana IV (Lost In The Vault)

Get Back thing i bought years ago and never play. even though i really like nirvana. um, the good nirvana. demos and weird versions of stuff.

scott seward, Friday, 27 August 2010 19:37 (fifteen years ago)

um, the good nirvana.

say it aint so, skot!

69, Friday, 27 August 2010 20:06 (fifteen years ago)

the 60's nirvana. they are the good one. i got no problem with kurtd or nothing. i just like 60's acid twee pop more than grunge.

now playing deaf school. test pressing. 2nd honeymoon album.

al wilson album surprising solid beyond the obvious hit single -- he remains in pretty great voice otherwise. still dig his version of Buckley's "Dolphins" from his earlier singles...

Go-Go's -- a revelation, never actually owned the record. even though "Our Lips Are Sealed" as a single, is like top 50 all-time for me. got a very playable VG copy for $1, a whole album full of jangly power-pop greatness. Super cool, now I regret not catching one of their many reunion shows

Stormy Davis, Saturday, 28 August 2010 07:35 (fifteen years ago)

also played Judas Priest's 'Sad Wings' again, as I continue to contemplate that whole 'Modern Metal album' thread. actual best thing I can say is that it freaks me out how much Rob Halford tried to sound like Scott Walker on "Epitaph"!

Stormy Davis, Saturday, 28 August 2010 07:43 (fifteen years ago)

even the later - 70's or 80's - vinyl i'm playing right now sounds so friggin' amazing. what an awesome production. all their albums sound like gold.

depends on how much of a hepcat your date is. are they down with the beardos? i think it might offer a little something for everybody.
