really interesting comments including input from band members & others who put the album together. interesting that chris darrow remixed the album for final release. would be interesting to hear the original mix, but that would mean finding the CD..

Taking a couple hundred CDs that I couldn't sell online to Amoeba and hoping to get some exchange for RECORDS. Excited to post my score here. Should I hunt for bargains or treat myself to fancy expensive Parson Sound, etc? I probably will get nothing for these shitty Cds

Think Amoeba will have it? How much should I expect for like 300-400 CDs? Not the shittiest CDs ever but maybe a little generic, which is why I didn't list them online. All in good condition.

the way amoeba is now, u will probably get anywhere from 200-400$. they barely take anything anymore, and the ones they do take, they give a buck to 3 (5 if you're lucky). they used to give you 4-6$ per cd

Yeah, figures. But otherwise these things would just be gathering dust in my garage. So they don't take everything? I never figure out how these guys know what's what. Are they like the biggest record nerds ever? The dudes at LA Amoeba all look seriously metal.

huh ... i've had them sometimes look stuff up on the computer, but most of the time they just sort stuff into piles without consulting anything

I got $24 in trade for 10 CDs today and I figured I was about par for the course these days.

I got The Waitresses LP! (Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful). Been looking for that for a long time.

Also scored Sheila E's Romance 1600 and a DI (not Disco Inferno) album for the old Adolescents fan in me.

what's Stomu Yamash'ta's Go like? i always see it and just assume it's gonna be a wanky fusion album.

it's kind of all over the place... good amount of funky fusion but also plenty of spacey electronics courtesy of klaus schulze. i love the live in paris album too, but you've got to have tolerance/awe for al di meola's pyrotechnics.

haha. i was so into them when i lived in chicago (99-2000). pissed when i saw OTC albums on record store walls for $100 and i'd already gotten rid of them. i still have the Music Tapes pop up book on vinyl. love that one.

i still rock the 1st otc album. pretty much everything else can go to hell. actually the 1st nmh album is cool, which is crazy seeing how the 2nd one borders on the worst music ever recorded.

love "jumping fences" from the first OTC, love "i shall be floated" from the second. i still think those NMH albums are pretty great, even though i will admit that they havent aged super-well, and certainly did way more harm than good.

I just traded in a copy of the George McCrae lp tonite at Reckless (had two copies.) My fave the LP (other than the title cut, which has long been like top 5 songs all-time for me) has always been "Make It Right". It has that same 'droney organ and simple-but-splendid chord changes' vibe as the title cut.

back from ny; went to both Academys, Kims, Other Music, Gimme Gimme was closed. Academy is by far the best of the lot. Other Music (which i used to love) is just feeling really tired, and i never can figure out their categories; meagre used vinyl.

Academy, on the other hand: both locations great. didn't buy much at all, but it was great fun nonetheless. really like the bright and spacious layouts of both locations (i'm old and i've done my time in crowded dark record stores!)

yah, I bought this a couple months back and love it as well -- in fact, Jaxon i bought on your "keep buying everything by Martyn until it sucks" idea! that said, how is 'Well Kept Secret' ??

XP Yeah, the only piece I know from the LP is Akrata, and the others sound really interesting — I actually like Xenakis's "ST" pieces despite them being his most difficult works and X himself saying he disliked them later on in life, and the other pieces I didn't even know existed, so I'm excited to hear these. I would like to make a digital rip of these but I don't have the equipment.
