ultra eczema is like the slightly classier younger brother to burn-out qbico.. or something. that ifco record is great. grah@m lambkon & matt kr3fting both sit in, iirc?

not everything is a campfire (ian), Friday, 6 August 2010 02:16 (fifteen years ago)

yep both Lambkon and Kreftkon are on the IFCO lp.

meanwhile, it's settled, this is my favorite Felt record. inspired by 69's posts on the ...desperately seeking thread

69, Friday, 6 August 2010 03:40 (fifteen years ago)

all these covers w/ no type... that's Emeralds 2lp on Mego. it's called "Do I Look Like I'm Here."

nerve_pylon, Friday, 6 August 2010 03:50 (fifteen years ago)

i like the emeralds okay but i still think you're better off with any random german person from the 1970's. it's pleasant though!

scott seward, Friday, 6 August 2010 03:59 (fifteen years ago)

exactly!

nerve_pylon, Friday, 6 August 2010 04:07 (fifteen years ago)

^ this is why i like it though, ha. my life needs more random germans from the 70s

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Friday, 6 August 2010 08:29 (fifteen years ago)

also, pretty cover + lambtron = maybe actually worth $30+

i brought my mark mcguire 2LP today! i love it! would i like emeralds?

69, Friday, 6 August 2010 16:50 (fifteen years ago)

i'm listening to CDs. got in a ton of 90's brit-type stuff. have no idea if any of its good. all that funky porcini, dj food, ninja tune, acid jazz, etc stuff that i COMPLETELY ignored at the time. don't even know if i want to try to sift through it. easier to just price it and put it on the shelf. i mean, i liked coldcut in the 80's, but 90's coldcut? anyway, got lots of jazz CDs too and i know i like them. been playing the same booker ervin comp for hours.

just can't bring myself to listen to any of these nu-souljazzfunkydelatastic things by people named The Brixton Soul Ensemble with a picture of 50 colorful coffee baristas on the cover.

scott seward, Friday, 6 August 2010 16:56 (fifteen years ago)

i have never, in all of my 49 years, heard Kate Bush. and i don't know how the MM solo stuff compares w/ Emeralds proper.

oh you should listen to her sometime!

69, Friday, 6 August 2010 17:09 (fifteen years ago)

that's a cool cover. re: emeralds again--the curmudgeon in me would tell you to go buy some Edgar Froese lps instead. where to start w/KBush?

nerve_pylon, Friday, 6 August 2010 17:18 (fifteen years ago)

everybody'll tell you something different, but i say go for hounds of love.

LOL i have the froese LPs though!

69, Friday, 6 August 2010 17:34 (fifteen years ago)

i feel like you would like that emeralds record pete. maybe just cause i do tho ha. one of the few new lps i was willing to pay over $20 for!

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Friday, 6 August 2010 17:36 (fifteen years ago)

i know the station has all that shit -- maybe ill "experiment" on my show

69, Friday, 6 August 2010 17:41 (fifteen years ago)

well if you own the mark mcguire double lp then i'd assume it's a well-informed 'experiment'. i haven't checked out any of his solo stuff tho, any rec's on where to start?

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Friday, 6 August 2010 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

i like his VDSQ record (just acoustic) and this 2LP, which (in my understanding) is more emeraldsy? gtr but lotsa effects too

love this album. late-night psych pop. don't be fooled by the cover. if you see it in a dollar bin, it ain't a mantovani album.

i get all the jokes abt them, but like, first four TH albums still pretty aight by me

69, Friday, 6 August 2010 23:28 (fifteen years ago)

^ agreed; esp. Food and Fear. those two have aged the best, imho.

nerve_pylon, Friday, 6 August 2010 23:45 (fifteen years ago)

that reminds me i have japanese pressings of those two that sound magnificent. must dig out.

nerve_pylon, Friday, 6 August 2010 23:49 (fifteen years ago)

"born under punches" still sounds CRAZY to me, too

69, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:00 (fifteen years ago)

hey, vampire weekend still dig them, right?

scott seward, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:11 (fifteen years ago)

liked a song or two on the first record, but didnt hear the second one.

69, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:14 (fifteen years ago)

sold a copy of MLITBOG by eno/byrne today, but that's cheating. sold an elvis costello album today! but that was cheating too cuz it had the cool elephant cover. usually can't give elvis away. or the heads usually.

scott seward, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:29 (fifteen years ago)

tbh, we sell talking heads records for twice what we sell e. costello for--6 bucks vs. 3 pretty much across the board. early headz anyway.
