Δ∇™ (van smack), Sunday, 18 July 2010 03:26 (fifteen years ago)

spent 60 u.s. dollars today. some stuff i'll keep, some for ebay, some for the store. and so it goes. i only post on here when i buy as a citizen. i obviously don't type out lists of boxes of records that people bring to the store or that i go get at people's houses. this stuff i got at one store.

musica orbis - to the listeners (longdivity records) (ebay bait. private 70's folk/jazzy/prog with female vox and harp and all manner of instruments. interesting in a DIY kinda way. but also pretty goofy.)

http://www.popsike.com/pix/20070707/230150195823.jpg

rosalie sorrels - if i could be the rain (folk-legacy records) (needed this. i am a rosalie completist. i like finding them in stores. obviously i could just buy them all off ebay, but where's the fun in that?)

vaughan meader - the second coming... (kama sutra)

quilapayun - s/t (these guys made kinda boring south american protest folk, but this album has a cool trippy cover and gatefold, so i figured i'd take a chance for two bucks.)

wishbone ash - locked in (atlantic)

wishbone ash - wishbone four (mca)

johnny nash - let's get lost (abc)

the essential travis, shook and the club wow (just like real records) (you need this if you are an nrbq completist. since they are all over it. this is a good album. don't see it often even here in mass.)

http://www.popsike.com/pix/20050716/4748812989.jpg

masayoshi takanaka - rainbow goblins story live at budokan (amherst) (i always buy this for a dollar just cuz i like the cover so much.)

chris youlden - nowhere road (london) (really siked to find this! especially for 50 cents! never see it. u.k. copies go for good money.)

charlie king - somebody's story (rainbow snake) (local 70's folk. so much dollar 70's folk at this place. need every flying fish and fretless and rounder record? love that charlie's label is rainbow snake cuz satanic rockers coven's record label imprint was called sunshine snake. i debated getting a tattoo of coven's label logo. stylized snake and sun.)

jack hardy - the nameless one (first american)

greg perry - smokin' (another good find for a dollar. kinda scarce.)

http://www.popsike.com/pix/20100104/250558108320.jpg

eric mercury - love is taking over (enterprise) (sealed for a dollar! love eric. he needs his wax poetics day in the sun.)

helix - no rest for the wicked

geoff & maria muldaur - sweet potatoes (reprise) (minty vinyl for a buck!)

the sons of champlin - s/t (gold mine) (tiny/private label from 1975. i hate the sons of champlin, but what the heck for a dollar. maybe they got good by 1975.)

rage - nice 'n' dirty (carrere)

ace spectrum - low rent rendezvous (atlantic) (25 cents! clean copy! never see their stuff. ever.)

http://www.popsike.com/pix/20100103/350300445727.jpg

lu janis - or durvs (inphasion records)

brothers - rainbow rider (columbia/windfall)

sylvia - brand new funk '78 (vibration) (can't pass up a minty copy for a quarter. such a great album.)

helix - long way to heaven

ian cussick - danger in the air (a&m)

maxayn - mindful (capricorn) (another good dollar record! funky capricorn stuff.)

nikki giovanni - the way i feel (niktom)

jean michel jarre - oxygene (clean for a dollar. i've sold at least four copies of this since i opened. so, i keep it in stock.)

rick nelson - in concert

lee michaels - s/t (a&m)

off broadway - on (atlantic)

off broadway - quick turns (atlantic)

new york rock & roll ensemble - faithful friends... (atco)

brewer & shipley - welcoms to riddle bridge (capitol)

murray mclauchlan - day to day dust (true north)

hedge and donna - s/t (capitol) (not really a fan, but never heard this one. such a clean copy for a buck. same with that nyr&re album on atco. not my fave, but such a nice clean pressing.)

don harrison band - s/t (atlantic) (with stu cook and doug clifford)

gordon heath and lee payant - folksongs and footnotes sung played and spoken (abbaye) (out of all this stuff, this is what i paid the most for. 8 dollars. beautiful original french pressing. didn't figure that i'd see another copy anytime soon.)

gary and randy scruggs - all the way home (vanguard)

si kahn - new wood (june appal)

kim wallach - paddle on the rahway (black socks press)

mark levinson - jazz at long wharf (private press 70's jazz. pricey too. got mine for three bucks. haven't played it yet.)

http://www.dccblowout.com/zoom_img/LEV007_1104800914.JPG

frijid pink - s/t (parrot) (remember being really excited when i finally got a copy of this way back when. now i find one for five bucks or under every couple months? times change. used to be an expensive record!)

testing your equipment by denon/pcm (45 rpm japanese stereo testing lp from 1977. with OBI!)

scott seward, Sunday, 18 July 2010 18:57 (fifteen years ago)

that rosalie is a a fave of mine, tbh.

and iran into the most evil kind of digger in the CD section - The Farter, that gross guy that lets one rip to clear out a section so he can have exclusive territory for the duration. AND he was crouched down in the bottom clearance racks for maximum cloudage. Almost didn't score my year-long prey of Andrew WK - I Get Wet (I am now Partying SO Hard).

do you guys have time to listen to all this stuff? i'm at the point (and i think i buy a lot less than most of y'all) where i have a huge and growing pile of LPs on the floor that i keep meaning to listen to, but can't find the time. probably should go cold turkey on buying stuff for like six months or more. a few years really.
