my LP copy of this has no cover (it's just in a plain white 12-inch single sleeve) -- unfortunate, because this looks pretty awesome

The fourth Klaatu album, Endangered Species. Not John Woloschuck's best songs, but definitely worth getting a cheap copy if you're a fan for "Knee Deep in Love" and a couple of Dee's songs. Different sound than their other records; recorded in L.A. with Hall and Oates producer and session players.

charles lloyd - geeta

can't find a picture...

scott seward, Friday, 2 July 2010 17:03 (sixteen years ago)

^ i didn't think i'd like that annette peacock the first time i listened to it. it's really mellow. no drums. no funk. and she's sorta just singing out of tune w/o anything backing her but a sparse keyboard chord here and there for most of it. (the wife actually said "are you trying to kill me?! and made me turn it off) but the more i listen to it, the more it's growing on me. it's real sultry and smokey. real loose like patty waters w/o the crazy freakout

now onto this, which seems to go really well w/that one

ian, Friday, 2 July 2010 17:29 (sixteen years ago)

man, geeta is so good. spaced-out sitar jam on the first side is all kinds of great.

scott seward, Friday, 2 July 2010 17:36 (sixteen years ago)

you know, i was a huge rush fan as a kid and i still like listening to the old stuff, but i gotta say, hemispheres kinda blows. its like a sketch for later better ideas. or something. its the only golden age rush album that bores me.

scott seward, Friday, 2 July 2010 18:20 (sixteen years ago)

grouper/roy montgomery split LP (sleeve damaged in the mail, for which im filing a USPS ins claim online -- record mercifully undamaged, and the nice lady at the oakland post office told me how to submit the claim in order to not have to surrender the mailed item, since it's limited edition, etc.)

xxpost kinda agree about Hemispheres. never could really get into the Cygnus X-1 II Suite and 'The Trees' is dumb, but 'La Villa Strangiato' is my all-time fave prog Rush jam. now I gotta find Exit...Stage Left.
