New Liars LP has the CD in there too iirc

tony hayward jablowme (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 13 June 2010 21:21 (sixteen years ago)

a) Complain to the label
b) Return it to the record store
c) Suck it up
d) Treat this as some Christian Marclay statement on the originality of my LP and consider myself blessed that I'm enlightened enough to appreciate the permeability of my physical object

how new is your needle? sometimes if I have a brand new record that skips it's cuz my needle's getting worn out (esp. if the record's really bass-y)

I think Ian was being sincere btw? who knows, lol

re: download card if I'm buying on vinyl I don't want a second copy on CD to take up shelf space, I want files for my ipod

dmr, Sunday, 13 June 2010 21:37 (sixteen years ago)

a little CD in a cardboard sleeve barely takes up a 1/8 inch of space and will mean digital files for your ipod long after your hard drive crashes

tony hayward jablowme (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 13 June 2010 21:39 (sixteen years ago)

real answer is to not buy vinyl -- can't remember if i've ever had a CD skip right out of the jewel case

ksh, Sunday, 13 June 2010 21:41 (sixteen years ago)

ian, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 15:16 (sixteen years ago)

a box! i went a little crazy. for a buck it's hard to say no. i'm going to be way more selective when i go back, i didn't even get through like a quarter of what they had there.

scott seward, Thursday, 17 June 2010 05:04 (sixteen years ago)

69, Friday, 18 June 2010 02:46 (sixteen years ago)

nice score on the Bobby Charles, Ian. what did you have to pony up for it?

Stormy Davis, Friday, 18 June 2010 04:37 (sixteen years ago)

Blitz - Voice of a Generation LP

<3

a fucking stove just fell on my foot. (Colonel Poo), Friday, 18 June 2010 06:53 (sixteen years ago)

Paid $40 for the Bobby Charles; not so bad considering.

ian, Friday, 18 June 2010 14:51 (sixteen years ago)

if any of you are swimming in money i highly recommend the friends album. it really is such a great blend of psychedelia and outjazz. 40 bucks buy it now on ebay. but who knows maybe you will get lucky like i did and find one cheaper.

scott seward, Friday, 18 June 2010 15:44 (sixteen years ago)

plus who spends 40 bucks on my say so? you'd have to be MAD!

scott seward, Friday, 18 June 2010 15:45 (sixteen years ago)

jaxon, Friday, 18 June 2010 16:28 (sixteen years ago)

I got "Ride on Time (Massive Mix)" 12-inch for £2. I've never knowingly heard it (and still haven't because my turntables are in boxes). Is this the version I'm familiar with or is it something horrible?

progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Friday, 18 June 2010 16:43 (sixteen years ago)

Also for £2 each:

- "Money" by Flying Lizards on 7-inch
- "Magic Fly" by Space on 7-inch

Thank you, Rock Bottom Records! Sorry I didn't have £99 to blow on a shitty original Jamaican pressing of King Tubby Meets the Rockers Uptown

progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Friday, 18 June 2010 16:45 (sixteen years ago)

i think the massive mix is relatively similar, maybe more housey pianos but that never hurt anyone. that song is incredible though

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Friday, 18 June 2010 19:07 (sixteen years ago)

Wire- Chairs Missing

and Calling Out Of Context, finally

I want the Parson Sound 3xlp but there's no way...

admrl, Friday, 18 June 2010 21:06 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah me too! $50 seems too much right now

The Marty Funkhouser Dance Machine (van smack), Friday, 18 June 2010 21:07 (sixteen years ago)

i would buy it on cd. it would be cheaper anyway. i got no problem buying archival/reissue stuff on cd.

scott seward, Friday, 18 June 2010 21:18 (sixteen years ago)

although 50 bucks for a 3 album box isn't that bad. um, if i could afford it now too. which i can't.

scott seward, Friday, 18 June 2010 21:19 (sixteen years ago)

it's been on CD fer years, tbh. and i don't think $50 is so bad.. that's less than $17 per record, which is not unreasonable for a new and imported item.

ian, Friday, 18 June 2010 21:22 (sixteen years ago)

It's limited to like 1000 right? I'd really like to pick it up though

The Marty Funkhouser Dance Machine (van smack), Friday, 18 June 2010 21:27 (sixteen years ago)

oh okay i don't generally buy CDs so i don't know what's out there. i would buy it on cd if i saw it somewhere for sale! i dig that stuff a bunch. kinda like THE dream band if you like psych. and yeah like i said 50 bucks ain't bad.

scott seward, Friday, 18 June 2010 21:33 (sixteen years ago)
