keep playing the steelwind album i got. amazing how much their song "smile" reminds me of richard & mimi!

sandalwood album on bell records is cracking me up. the lyrics are crazy. if anyone sees it for a dollar its worth a laff.

record dealer from springfield brought me a big fat stack of the country singles i like. well, he brought a big box and i went thru them and took what i wanted. got a stack of 150 or so. right up my alley.

scott! one of my fave 78s lately is a carlisles tune called "woman driver." it's a gas.

can't find a picture of the (presumably self-titled) swimming pool q's LP with the great big Q on the cover (which turns out not to be all that good anyway, at least on first listen) on line. this on now:

love this album so much and again i repeat i can't BELIEVE i wasn't listening to this band in the 80's. so weird. i would have loved them. oh well i can love them now. maybe i never saw their records or didn't read a good review by chuck or byron in spin? i remember the record covers though. hmmmm....

I never wrote about them in Spin, just in the Boston Phoenix and Village Voice (and maybe Creem Metal). Shovel (which I no longer own, surprise surprise, I am stupid) was my #1 LP of 1987 (or very close to it) in Pazz & Jop.

They are sooo good. Shovel's probably my fave but it's also the first one I heard and I kinda tend to work that way

Feedtime were great - I know I got Shovel on the strength of a review somewhere, which means someone was writing about them? Mike McGonigal in CI? mebbe...
