hey skot! u ever heard the Gagaku & Beyond album herbie mann did? i'd like to find a copy. i guess half of it, there's this japanese band Minoru Muraoka And New Dimension Group on it.

cover of jj cale's "cajun moon" on this album is soooooo great. this album has tracks with all japanese musicians on it. The Family Of Mann dudes.

god damn but Herbie Mann made a shit ton of albums.

I only have the ones with Sonny Sharrock on em.

but I have all of them. I am a Sonny completist.

I know I should probably check out 'Push Push' though, as a massive Allmans fan

herbie had the best taste in guitarists. sonny, mick taylor, albert lee, o'donel levy, larry coryell, and lots more i can't think of right now.

i've heard well over 20 albums by herbie and there are still some that i want to hear! i need a copy of wailing dervishes and some others.

i want this record!

yeah that solo is nuts. insane that Sonny was even in that band, given the demographic that Herbie appealed to, but what a band! Roy Ayers, Sonny Sharrock and Miroslav Vitous together? I love the interview with Sharrock in Motorbooty where he talks about that period and what a swell dude Herbie was.

i have one at the store. nobody ever buys them, but i put them all out. some of his records i should probably just put in the dollar bin, but i don't for some reason. i want them to get more respect.

i've been blowing my mind with 70's sergio mendes albums the last couple of weeks. so much good stuff there. and hardly anyone wants it.

we get serious herbie mann buildup here; average price is probably $4 and they just don't move. sooo many different records, too.

gotta love Coronet. Album label says its "Holiday in Hawaii" by the Hukulaukas - same exact song titles as the sleeve.

ha, pulled out another one and discovered this same record is also "Hawaiian Interlude" by Johnnie Aluani and his Orchestra on Spin-O-Rama. how many copies of this do I have?!?
