i always dig the two-lead vocals on the same song thing that hughes/coverdale did. more bands need/needed to do that.

Stuff on AF that I like besides Oscar Brand: Leo Berry's Giant Organ (ok lol), Lionel Hampton, sum Cha Cha Cha records, Dukes of Dixieland, and of course you can't forget Johnny Puleo and his Harmonica Gang (as seen on SCTV's Ocean's Eleven parody). I know that I have "A Date With Eddie Cantor" but I forget if it is any good.

The Doctored for Super Stereo sound effects records are certainly classics of their own weird little niche.

The Larry Adler lp is sure to be good as well as the Satchmo jamz and the Lord Invader. There are prob some cool Jo Basile tracks out there.

The thing in this catalog I really need to hear other than the El-Bakkar is Bobby Christian's "Strings for a Space Age"

AF has really nice jackets, btw. Sweet glossy covers and durable hi-grade cardboard.

just a bunch of random stuff cobbled together in terms of "it all sounds really great" ... so boutiquey, kinda like Mississippi!

I guess it could seem random but I think it was centered around "stuff that we think dudes aged 25-39 in 1958 will like / use to show off their stereo".

right but again I think that whole concept might be a first! in terms of the concentrated *diversity* of those selections and the *marketing* on the fidelity of them ?? dunno. heck do i know -- only have the four records, like i say, but was always mildly curious about the label ...

i think i still have that larry adler album in the store. it's a great sounding album. the faux-arab stuff is good. had most of them in here at some point. most people bought them for the sexxxy covers.
