i don't know if you know this, chuck, but that starstruck soundtrack is near and dear to me. if i made a list of my fave 100 records it might even be on there. partly nostalgia and partly cuz i think its a perfect thing. i've probably played it a couple hundred times since the 80's.

Ha ha, Scott, I had no idea. And that makes...one of us. Actually was kind of disappointed by the thing, after not having played it in years and years. There's some stuff on the first side that sounds like the Divinyls (in their early Lene Lovich mode) I guess, just not nearly as rocking. Also sometimes I think it sounds like the missing link between Rocky Horror and Sleater Kinney, which might not necessarily be a good thing. Didn't dislike it, though. Maybe I'm missing something... (Mainly talking the Jo Kennedy tracks, obviously. Never seen the movie.)

yeah, i have no problem with people not feeling that record like i do. it just hits me hard for some reason. from the first time i heard those songs. and i can see what you mean with the sleater kinney thing. jo - vocally - kinda reminds me of tanya donnelly a bit at times and tanya was pre-sleater sleater. and thats no problem for me. i was a huge throwing muses fan. not a huge belly fan though aside from the first two EPs that 4ad put out. the only sleater kinney album i ever really liked was dig me out - the first one i heard - and what i liked about it was its glimmer of x ray spex and the muses in the vocals.

what do you think of the Stray Dog? I remember checking that out of my college radio station and thinking it paled in comparison the the first LP. but that was 15 years ago and i can't remember a thing about what it sounds like. still have my copy of the first LP tho

that stray dog i was listening to isn't very memorable, but the guitars are cool. it ain't no point blank debut, that's for sure.

yeah Ian, it was on my want-list for a while too (always was specifically after the 2lp versh tho), finally went the eBay route. it took FOREVER to even see a listing (although plenty of listings for the orig), but when it finally showed up I actually won it for 17 bucks. not bad. GREAT album too, basically the lost Grateful Dead album

but that live stuff is way more "rock", which surprised me
