were the synths that chris & cosey used really primitive? maybe techno primitiv. hahahaha! but seriously, was their gear really old and out of date or something? i don't even know. i love how their records sound. wish i still owned them all. in the 90's nobody wanted them. you couldn't give their records away. now i want some and i never see them. but i don't get out much...

No, I guess primitive was the wrong word: they were bang up to date, or even ahead for the time. What makes it sound 'out of time' is the old fashioned pre-midi sequencing, and the dropping in of 'samples' on tape, I guess - or maybe just that I know how old it is....

Chris Carter built TG and C&C synths AFAIK, which is why they have THAT sound.

weird. i dunno. cuz i'm a moderator on here i only see links. so i have to click on them to see the pictures. and whenever i click on rateyourmusic or discogs links there is never anything there.

i like to alternate. when I do marathons, that is. i like it cuz each artist kind of acts as a palate-cleanser for the other. Like, the other week when I did that ELO marathon I was alternating it with the last 6 or so Six Organs of Admittance things. big fan of the marathons in general tho. It kinda ties back into that "completism" thread. the biggest impetus towards completism for me is just the ability to sit back and listen to an artists whole run in one go. I'm thinking I might do a Doobie Bros marathon tomorrow. Everything up through 'Stampede', anyway.

first time ever hearing Thin White Rope. Not bad! bought that for a couple bucks like a year ago and just listened to it now. I dug it. Some good gtr squall. Singer kinda sounds like a gruffer McGuinn at times.

if you ever see that wayne county album i highly recommend it. its got wayne's garage punk going on, but they got david cunningham to produce it so there are lots of cool flying lizard-esque touches throughout the album.
