cool! i'll definitely look for his stuff. I have the Popul Vuh record that came out on IC, but I think that may be it. it didn't get into it too much but I probably haven't played it in like 10 years. Will have to pull it out again soon.

i don't think i've EVER listened to the original u.k. pressing of this album. maybe i did years ago...sounds a lot better to me than the rehashed american thing that they released after the fact. i'm not a big clash fan, but sometimes they sound good to me.

i should say that i ALWAYS like hearing the clash on the radio. i like their hits a lot.

i agree generally about lukewarm clash feelings, but i liked em better in college, and i think the US version is much better than the UK. "white man in hammersmith palais" and "complete control" and "clash city rockers" are some of my favorite clash songs.

Can't leave the early '80s now and the pathos of primitive synths

were the synths that chris & cosey used really primitive? maybe techno primitiv. hahahaha! but seriously, was their gear really old and out of date or something? i don't even know. i love how their records sound. wish i still owned them all. in the 90's nobody wanted them. you couldn't give their records away. now i want some and i never see them. but i don't get out much...

No, I guess primitive was the wrong word: they were bang up to date, or even ahead for the time. What makes it sound 'out of time' is the old fashioned pre-midi sequencing, and the dropping in of 'samples' on tape, I guess - or maybe just that I know how old it is....

This, though, IS primitive...
